Reverse!Robins Damian finding out Steph’s about to go into foster care because her mother’s going to rehab, and being like, “I know someone who’d be willing to look after you, so you don’t have to compromise your identity or training.”
And baby!Steph’s all like, “Really?! Oh thank go—I mean, if you think that’s best, Teach. I trust you.”
Damian warns her it might take a couple weeks, since they have to do this by the book & file all the paperwork and stuff. Then he goes home, plans how to pitch this so that Bruce will absolutely not say no, only to throw open the doors to the dining room like, “Father! We are fostering my apprentice!”
Duke freezes, fork halfway to his mouth (he thought he was prepared when he saw Damian coming down the hall, but he was not.) Cass looks at Duke & Bruce’s faces, and nearly falls off her chair laughing. Bruce stares at his son, wondering “How long has Damian been hiding Spoiler in the manor, and why didn’t Alfred tell me?”
(Damian was fully prepared & equipped to argue his case to his family, and managed it in a matter of hours. He was less prepared for Steph’s reaction when she found out the “someone” he was talking about was Bruce Wayne and the foster home she’s supposed to move into is Wayne Manor.)
