"On Repeat" Tag Game

@sarandipitywrites thanks for tagging me!! Most of these are songs I listen to on repeat for hours at a time because they're auditory stims for me, or ones I cry with to get thru trauma flashbacks, but a few are also writing related lol.

My 10 songs are:

Is sharing your Spotify wrapped still a thing? Sharing anyway because I have Important Thoughts under the cut.

I knew Ateez would knock Stray Kids off the top spot because they’re my ult group as of 2024. However, TXT came in third and now I’m wondering if I’m a moa, even though I want to resist with every bone in my body. Ever since I saw a vid of a middle-aged woman sat on a pavement wailing because she missed a Yeonjun sighting, it’s given me the major ick to even consider myself part of the fandom. I’m a woman with a disposable income and refuse to succumb to the same fate. I want no part of it. I rebuke you TXT! You’ll be famous on my playlists but that’s all.

Having two HYBE groups in my top 2 songs is bullshit. The algo is clearly paid off. There’s no way Magnetic was being played to that extent – I noticed it, along with Déjà vu, was being pushed via automated playing.

I really thought Skz would be my forever ult so I don’t even know how Ateez overtook them in my heart but by golly they did. If I go through the members individually:

Honjoong: the prettiest rapper in kpop. The shape of his eyes is beautiful and I love his sharp nose and wavy lined lips. As an idol he always understands the assignment whether it’s hitting a pose at a concert for atiny to obsess over or being flirtatious or doing aeygo. I think he’s super talented and his jealous scorpio ass has me on strings.

Seonghwa: he’s not my bias but I can’t take my eyes off him.  The Wake Up concert footage was an awakening, I tell you. Introduction fairy unlocked.

Yunho: my bias everybody. He’s so tall and handsome as hell. I know he can serve the college boyfriend, take home to mama type but he’s also cagey about his true self and I just know there’s something more mysterious in there. I believe every read of him that has him down as a dom. Pin me down by my wrists, Yunho. I’ve been a bad girl.

Mingi: the duality of looking like a fuckboi and having a princess personality. His journey as an idol seems to have been difficult but he has a confidence in him that shines. I feel like Atinys’ love powers him up, like when you see him at concert send offs he is so energised by the crowd. He’s such a soft-hearted sweetie. I feel like it’s in his nature to be very giving. For me, he’s the real boyfriend type of Ateez.

San: first impression was this guy seems very mature. In fact they all do but San seems like a grown man, you know? Especially when they go for the corporate-teez look (which personally I don’t like! Suits don’t do it for me unless it looks cunty). When I took the time to study his face, I realised how beautiful he is and I loooooooove his smile, it’s so warm. His body flexibility and that back… oof. He’s a wrecker of my sanity.

Wooyoung: a brat and a menace and I love that. He adds a lot to the group dynamic with his personality. I don’t wanna diminish his face card but he looks so much better with longer hair. Maybe I’m Howl’s Moving Castle – biased but I love that style on him and I hope he keeps it for a long time. No more bowl cuts!

Yeosang: Confession time: MMA Awards opened up my eyes to what a great dancer Yeosang is. He was giving main dancer that night, which is high praise indeed considering the level of dance skill in Ateez. I’d like to see more of a spotlight on him because I feel like whenever he’s given the opportunity he always delivers.

Jongho: vocal powerhouse and baby bear.

So my bias line right now is: yunho, mingi, san and wooyoung. I realise I haven’t talked much about the music but priorities! I gotta talk biases first! I’ve listened to Ateez’s back catalogue pretty evenly so I get why there wasn’t one song that stood out among the rest to get into my top 5. However, my favourites are Inception and Turbulence. For a “noise music” band, they have some pretty melodic tunes.

I got plenty to say on the ships (which I enjoy in all its variations) but will I need to act surprised if they come out? Puh-lease. Honeybun, I see fan service and wholesome friendships and a desire to slake the thirst of a permanently dehydrated fandom.
