Morning Run Views
It's not much, but it was my first run since last week’s race. I took a full week off - no running but I did do some cycling - and added a recovery plan from Mcmillan Running. Today, that meant 2 miles, and I threw in 8 x 100 strides on the turf after that just because I felt like it. This little 2-week plan should get me back into the swing of things. The key goal right now is to stay healthy so I can start a buildup in late July or early August for a fall half. In the meantime, some maintenance running and maybe the occasional short race just to keep things interesting.
It's extraordinary that I'm doing this at all, doubly so after being injured for so long. Why not be proud of running 1k, 2k, 3k when I spent the better part of a year running 0k?
Why not?
Been running a lil more to train for a half in early July!! Doing longer runs !! Here’s some pics of life lately !! Going to be better about posting my runs!! I did 7 miles on Monday which is one of my longest runs on a long time (like a year or two!!!) !!!!
pancake tuesday / after a spring-like run / a reorganized bathroom cabinet
I spent today doing small but satisfying house tasks in between periods of lounging, and it was lovely! I got a lot done, in the end.
The first week of my 5k program was excellent. I bailed on part of the long run today—you can’t tell in the picture, but my feet were soaking wet. The pathways are in their ankle-deep-icy-salty-water stage and it is not super pleasant. But it was significantly above freezing and sunny while I was out there! So overall, a huge win. Spring, baby! It’s coming!
I’ve still been eating takeout like it’s my last week on earth (insert dark humour about the war and its potential consequences for NATO countries, lol/yikes 🥲). I did, however, manage to make some decadent pancakes last Tuesday. Easter, like spring, is coming! Holding both grief and excitement in my heart these days. Which is appropriate for Easter, come to think of it.
So apparently I can just go out and run 10k now after not running for weeks? The winter did things to my base fitness, clearly 🤣 I thought running here was boring after moving here from the amazing trails of the peak district, and tbh it still is now but... the weather is nice, the views are nice and I think I can deal with it for a little while. :D felt good to be out anyway.
Feeling so super good about my first race back since November 2016! Runners Knee definitely took me out for a while, but I’m back and haven’t missed a beat.
The Charlottesville 10-Miler was a dream. People cheering at every single point during the race, hills on hills on challenging hills (the last mile was basically an uphill battle), and so many smiles from all directions.

We’re back in the game, y’all! What a great morning. Crisp Saturday mornings have got to be the reason that running exists.
Indy Mini W13D3 - STRENGTH 3x2 miles
Got out of my training early today, and it was beautiful out! I had researched beforehand and found a city park nearby, so I headed over to get my run on! The park was really nice! It had a nice path running through it and was pretty and scenic. I was really happy I found it :)
This workout felt pretty good though! My legs felt heavier than normal though. But I did my best to keep pushing and I think I did pretty well! My best trick when my legs get tired is to remember to lead with my chest. If I envision my chest having that good form forward lean, it helps keep my momentum moving forward.
By the final repeat mile my legs were d.e.a.d. and I was happy to be done! This workout was tough, but I know it was a beneficial one and my legs will be stronger because of it :)
I also liked this sign, because I definitely was speeding the first time I went by it haha ;)
Happy hump day! The week is almost over!
