Post traumatic stress disorder.
If you’re Struggling with posttraumatic stress disorder I promise you there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I got over my post traumatic stress disorder mostly without medication which was really difficult. It’s hard to describe the process of get better; especially with the demands of the world, it can be difficult to take the time to heal. I really learned that sitting with it to the point of beating a dead horse help me overcome it. By intensifying and descalating the pain of the struggle, I was able to regain some control. learning how to keep your mind silent is key. the only way to keep the mind silent is to feel. Breathing, pinching yourself, walking, allowing your mind to wander. many times I did not allow any emotion to go unrecognized or unexpressed. you can feel very alone because others really can’t help you with such a deep wound. You can feel emotionlessly numb, sadly you almost have to take a complete break from the world as hard as that may be, I removed all external influences. I remember my nervous system being so shocked that when I went to bed my body tangled with rage and I literally had pain in my brain to the point where sleeping never seem to come and sleeping was my only relief. Like bridling a hell horse, no matter how much it kicks, screams; you always have to keep that rope in your hand, and as the horses flames dies downs, it becomes easier to ride.
Now recalling, I pictured in my mind who I used to be prior to the event, breathing into that self image helped a lot in recovering my sense of well-being. As a person who’s dealt with trauma before, I was kind of able to sit outside myself while my body was able to recover. I guess it’s really about learning to cycle things within and keep things moving, so as not to stay internally. Self imaging, body sensation, mind silence and physical rehabilitation, and a bit of medication; is the cycling system I used to regain well-being. I felt like I had to learn how to walk again and you pretty much have to learn how to walk again, learn to use the body helps becoming comfortable in your skin. Gaining physical ability back helps the body gets stronger the mind will reflect that and it’ll bounce in between each other. on some level the mind and the body separate because your brain triggers a survival mechanism to remove yourself from such a tragic feeling. ultimately I didn’t wanna rely on pharmaceuticals for the rest of my life, I was on them for about, I don’t know 4 months maybe less. Cry when you want to, be mad when you want to, be alone when you need to and never forget your breathing, While developing a cycling system to to fight stagnation. This is something that has to be done not for months, perhaps years until you get better.
I’ve noticed that people tend to want an instant gratification solution or figure they could do something for a few months but really in most cases, it has to be done continuously and become a part of you ultimately.
