personally I HC taako as nonbinary and I agree that, while he is highly fashionable, it's... really p gross that people only headcanon taako as this hyperfemme person, when he's not. He's just a dude that wears skirts sometimes. On top of that, the whole masculinization of Lup also feels super bad and like, fetishy. I love looking for new fanart of the twins but hot damn is it hard to seperate the wheat from the chaff.

also we need more taakos and lups of color and fat/chubby twins.

i mean thats a big reason why i dont reblog a whole lotta TAZ art lmao - and yeah, i still draw taako in a skirt sometimes, its really more the portrayed attitude

Hey Vesper, I was wondering if I could have your opinion on something. I identify as demiboy/demiboyfluid and I would like to use the word boi. However, someone told me that was cultural appropriation for black people and I doubt want to be a part of that, and Google is giving me no help. Help?

while what i’m about to say should by no means be taken as anything more than just one person’s opinion, i do feel fairly confident saying that “boi”– specifically spelled b-o-i, used in reference to a specific flavor of queer gender and / or sexual identity– does have origins within queer black & [afro-]latinx communities where it was and is used along other identities / terms such as “AG” / “aggressive”, “stud”, “bulldagger” and “masculine of center.” that said, the term has long since been absorbed into the larger queer communities (and indeed, even beyond the queer community)– to the point of becoming yet another thing that is commonly attributed to the queer (but especially gay) community at large, without any recognition given to its historical ties to queer black & [afro-]latinx culture.

i have seen it argued many a time on Tumblr that the term was created by POC and as such, white people should not use it for themselves. to be honest, i find such arguments annoying because of the questionable usage of “POC” and continual lack of acknowledgement of the specific group(s) of people from which the identity / term arose. crediting the term to the broad, socioeconomic group of people that is “POC” in general is halfassed acknowledgement of cultural appropriation at best, imho.

having said all that, i don’t have it in me to cite sources for anything that i’ve said above, as i’m sure many would have me do, nor do i care to “weigh in” on either side of the argument regarding who can and cannot use “boi,” as it makes me uncomfortable to voice my opinion when that opinion is likely to be received or treated a certain way because of my blackness and queerness…..

whatever decision you come to, i’m afraid you will have to come to it without an explicitly stated opinion about it from me.

there are plenty but all carnivorous insects/arachnids  are kind of hard to tame, considering they might eat your other livestock. keeping them well fed and calm with plenty of space to themselves is very important. while there are a few on the island, there are actually more spider handlers on the mainland since spiders were originally domesticated by Hares and most of the tame ones went with them when they left. spider handling for both hares and rabbits is usually only learned from family elders who tend to keep their secrets close since the silk is so valuable and to be honest, giant free range spiders are not ideally safe pets. they’re not really quick to make owning them a cool fad.

domesticated spiders are valuable for their silk and protection. there are a few breeds of jumping spider bred for companionship and simple problem solving tasks. wolf spiders known as loyal protectors (in the Downtrodden world, the wolves were actually named after the wolf spiders instead of the other way around). and there are orb weavers who are basically treated like sheep and harvested for their silk.

fun fact: spiders are one of the only Downtrodden critters that were intentionally bred bigger.

Honestly? I think was mad as hell. Of course, there’d be the hurt and confusion and guilt, but I think he was mostly rip-snorting pissed. 

Like, if they had shown up a few months after their supposed deaths, I could see him being more accepting and forgiving them (with probably a lot of crying). At that point, I don’t think their death’s (Reaper’s and 76′s) would have had time to sink in completely. Especially not with the “their bodies weren’t recovered” part. He would prob be willing to accept it as part of the SEP weirdness and just be grateful that they were alive. 

But we’re talking literal years, here. That’s WAY past the point of accepting someone as being well and truly dead.When he finds out they’re alive, after he got over the initial disbelief (which might take… a few days, tbqh. Like, if my dad showed up at my college graduation or something I’d just think I finally lost my marbles and started hallucinating, so I assume it’d be similar for Jesse) (This could also include the popular hc that using Deadeye too often can cause hallucinations because i love causing myself pain :)) I bet he’d be royally fucking furious. And hurt! Especially re: Gabe, because like… Gabe taught Jesse so much and really believed he could do good in the world and was probably the best role model Jesse could get, and suddenly he’s back from the dead (barely) and killing old agents and shit??? What the fuck?? what the fu

And they never thought to tell him? Jack, I’m sure he would understand, because I can’t see them being super close. But Gabriel? Hot damn, that’ll be a whole other host of issues to unpack wrt abandonment and self-loathing. 

I think he would be pretty resentful. In the time they were “dead” he had a lot of opportunities to really grow as a person outside of their influence, so when they came back I’m certain he didn’t welcome them with open arms (even if he had wanted to). I feel like it would take a long time for things to be even remotely similar to the way they were before, especially with Gabe.
