Alex Stern and Daniel Taber Arlington the Fifth have not only stolen my heart but have me writing fanfiction for the first time in literal years. So excuse me while I chew on Ninth House and Hell Bent until the third book comes out.

Darlington said: "I have appetites", finally reading the beginning of chapter 37 and understanding what these appetites are:
hey yall, in the time i was gone, i got into so many books and fandoms!!
first off - loved The Night Circus (im currently writing a musical based on it, very hamilton coded)
next i tried caraval, not a big fan, didnt relate with any of the characters... BUT, i did read Once Upon A Broken Heart and im obsessed!!
i reread soc and cruel prince for the 30000th time.
next i read Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House (excellent, deep, loved how alex isn't the typical YA heroine) and Hell Bent (started as boring but i LOVED the second half, especially all the scenes with darlington, my gentleman) . Leigh is already my fav author sooo...
briefly, i was into kpop demon hunters, the songs are catchy, ok? like i didnt even watch the movie before obsessing over free, but eventually gave in and watched it.
aside from all that, i got back into theatre kid mode and rewatched hamilton atleast 40 times in the summer. i used to be a theatre kid 4 yrs ago and then i became a swiftie and that completely overpowered my life until now lol.
Oh and, im in the final season of modern family, obv i love it so so much.
im waiting for the snl season 51 premiere too!
and showgirl is coming in 2 days!!! but i have my exams. when it gets released i'll be in school, writing my english mid-terms. so yea, it sucks.
Happy Hell Bent eve!
Scooby and the gang are finally back! Celebrating with a new freestanding papercraft of the ever-moody Alex and golden-boy Darlington! 🎉
I was flabbergasted and honored to be one of the randoms who receive the 10 chapter sample (featured here) courtesy of Flatiron Books. It was a delicacy of an appetizer, but I'm excited for the entrée, garnished with the amazing narration by Lauren Fortgang!
Hot take: Darlington x Stern x Dawes ??? Bardugo said there'd be romance and they all fit so well. Is it unusual to think maybe this could work? They're the dream team
✩🐇🔥Review:
The much anticipated sequel to “Ninth House” is well worth the wait!
For the first time, beloved characters that made brief appearances in the first novel like Mercy Zhao and Tripp Helmuth play much larger roles in “Hell Bent.” Though brief, Bardugo writes flashbacks from the perspectives of Tripp, Turner, and Dawes, allowing the reader to gain much needed insight into the root of their character motivations and fears.
Like the previous novel, Alex’s point-of-view shifts between her past life in California and her present one in New Haven, allowing for even more revelations about how she came to be the unapologetic badass we know and love.
Not only do we learn more about the ghosts from her past that have come back to haunt her, but we discover the extent of Alex’s power as a wheelwalker. Being the only one of her kind to survive Daisy Fanning Whitlock, Bardugo establishes that there are still abilities unknown to Alex that she possesses. With Darlington trapped in Hell, Alex tests the bounds of her magic to ensure his safe return and learns that she is not limited to amplifying her strength with the dead.
Darlington also comes into otherworldly power as a result of his time in hell. For the first time, readers are able to see his character exist in the present timeline after his rescue. Chapters written from his viewpoint reveal his internal struggle: reconciling who he once was with who the demon he became in hell. His every interaction with Alex made my heart race and it likely will not rest until they finally act on what they feel for one another.
There is a lot at stake for Galaxy Stern. I cannot wait to see her raise hell in the books to come!

I find Daniel Sharman not lanky enough but I could see someone with the overall aesthetic of him playing Darlington
But at the same time, I find him too clean cut.
Or maybe even Rudy pankow
Edit: came back because I find myself wanting to explain. I think both would look great in the light academia, sophisticated scholarly aesthetic that kind of jumps into our heads when we think of darlington. RUDY especially because his hair has this over grown look without coming off hippie-ish. I can see darlington being lazy with those details of himself due to his studies and research but when he leaves black elm he takes care to adhere to dressing into a certain aesthetic if that makes sense.
