Because I Have Too Much Time

Once upon a time there was nothing. Not a single twinkling light in the sky, not even the moon had come to be… but then- then there was Castiel, he blinked into the universe out of seemingly nothing.

He surveyed the emptiness around him and was greatly disheartened. He took it upon himself to craft stars, plucking them from his very soul and cresting the dark landscape before him, but that wasn’t enough.

Castiel decided that he needed to make something grand, something so bright it could light up the world in which he was brought into, but he didn’t yet have the power to do so, and so he sat and longed for the day he could create something so monumental, something to finally make him truly happy.

In his time of waiting, Castiel named the stars, every last shimmering jewl in the sky. Some of which he shifted and aligned with others forming constellations which he then also named.

And then one day… one day things were different and his stars began to fade, and the sky turned a lighter colour, one he almost couldn’t describe. It was like nothing he had ever seen before, reds and pinks smearing across his dark canvas before the sky turned lighter and lighter.

He was at a loss for what was happening.

“Hello.” A strange new voice piped up from behind the god of night.

He turned slowly, nervously meeting the stranger’s eyes. “Hello-” Castiel spoke up, voice nothing more than a soft tremor as he looked over this new being.

His eyes were the brightest green that the god had ever viewed before, but that wasn’t the half of it. This new god was covered in soft glowing freckles that reminded Castiel so fondly of his stars, and then there was his smile. It was the warmest thing in existence, easily melting Castiel’s heart and causing his skin to glow slightly from how shy he was.

“I’m Dean. Who’re you?” The green eyed man inquired kindly, that warm smile still gracing his tan face.

“My name is Castiel.” He responded diligently, offering a gentle smile of his own. He could feel his whole aura tingling with excitement over this new being, looking over the things this other god had created already.

It was… in the only word he could use to describe it, amazing. The colours, the warmth, the big ball of glowing light high up in the sky practically smiling at them. Simply amazing.

The two talked for the whole day, never growing bored of each other, until of course Dean grew tired, the sky returning to it’s red and orangey pink hues and slowly fading into the darkest blues when he finally fell asleep, curled up.

And so with supposedly replenished energy, Castiel attempted to create something new for his night sky, but again it didn’t work.

This routine went on for weeks, perhaps longer as time was still a very loose concept in the beginning. The two would spend time together and then Dean or Castiel would fall asleep, leaving the other to their daily tasks.

It wasn’t until one evening, right in the time where Castiel would arise from his starry bed that Dean appeared before him.

“Castiel, over the time I have grown to know you, i have developed a fondness for you. Every day my sun shines brighter and soars ever higher in the sky when I think that I’ll be able to see you again when my day is over, even if only for a moment. I realize that I want to share my existence with you Cas, and I only hope that you could feel the same towards me…”

Castiel, overcome by a warm feeling his his chest, began to glow brighter than ever before. He took Dean’s hands in his, hoping the sunset could be held at bay as long as possible so he could speak his heart to the sun kissed god.

He cleared his throat and matched eyes with the other. “Dean, I do share your feelings, although I fear that I can not vocalize them the way that you have, so for you I will prove my affections by crafting a star so big and bright that the whole of the earth, and the creatures upon it will know of my shared affections. If you could wake up early enough tomorrow, than perhaps you might catch a glimpse of my gift to you.” Castiel spoke swiftly, watching the tired sun spot’s eyes grow heavy, but fill with adoration.

“I will try my hardest, Castiel. See you in the morrow.” Dean pressed a chaste kiss to the black haired beauty’s cheek and headed off to bed with a small smile.

That night, Castiel plucked his very heart from his chest and pressed a kiss to it, infusing some of his power and instantly causing the heart to grow in size, illuminating the whole of the night sky, his stars shining brightly with it as he sent it to sit in it’s rightful place.

He had created the moon.
