มิถุนายน 2560: เกโกะ Toshikana, เกโกะ Toshimana (โอกิยะ Komaya), เกโกะ Tanefumi (โอกิยะ Takayoshi), เกโกะ Fukusuzu (โอกิยะ Ishihatsu), และเกโกะ Kofuku (โอกิยะ Shigemori) จากเขต Miyagawacho ถ่ายรูปหลังเวทีในงาน Miyako no Nigiwai

Miyako no Nigiwai (都の賑い) คืองานแสดงการร่ายรำโดยมีไมโกะเกโกะจากทั้ง 5 เขตเกอิชาในเกียวโตเข้าร่วม เพื่อแสดงถึงความรัก สามัคคี และพร้อมจะสนับสนุนกันและกันของทุกเขต โดยงานนี้จัดขึ้นในสองสุดสัปดาห์สุดท้ายของเดือนมิถุนายน มีการแสดงสองชุดสุดท้ายคือการร่ายรำในเพลง Kyou Kouta (京小唄) และ Gion Kouta (祇園小唄) ซึ่งราคาบัตรเข้าชมนั้นจะสูงกว่างานร่ายรำ (をどり : Odori) ทั่วไป

Weekend Update 14/8

Not too much happens during the summer, so it’s hard to summarize very little news (hence there was no update last week). But, we have news this week! Karyukai News -Mikako (実佳子) of Nishimura (西村) in Gion Kobu will be having her erikae on October 24th. She’ll be performing while wearing yakko shimada during Onshūkai on October 3rd and 6th and will then switch to sakkō on October 11th. Blog News -What’s In a Book? Part 25 looked at Nihongami No Sekai: Nihongami No Yuikata (日本髪の世界日本髪の結い方編) - The World of Japanese Traditional Hairstyles: How To Set Japanese Hairstyles by Tetsuo Ishihara 石原哲男 -The Random Fact of The Week looked at Meister and Mai and Nejiri Mottoi. -Mylo’s Pick of The Week took a look at Katsuna (勝奈) of Daimonji (大文字) in Kamishichiken and Tanefumi (田ね文) of Takayoshi (高よし) in Miyagawa Cho. -There were many, many questions asked this week! Thank you for sending them in and for the great conversations that they started ^o^!
