Talking over food

Recently the party was just in their camp for a bit. We were ignoring the artificer as sparks, smoke, and some offensive speech was coming from her tent and we were not going to bother her. The rest of us were eating one thing or another and the thief asked the lot of us What we were eating and or typically ate as he has kinda become the group cook. So to no surprise the eidolon and paladin immediately answered meat. (have never seen the thief deflate that quickly) He asked if there was anything more specific like types, cooking methods, or sides. The paladin is a farm boy so he said that his portion of the food storage on the wagon was mostly filled with preserved meats, fruits, and vegetables and whatever he could keep and get relatively fresh. He mentioned that as long as it is not rancid he will be fine eating most anything. The thief says he is partial to fish and other sea foods as he grew up in port towns on the coast, so he keeps a small stock of cooking stuffs, booze, and his cleaning and fishing gear because its only worth cooking if it was swimming that day. He also mentioned that he really likes salmon though when out of season its kinda hard to get. 

There was a long pause as I assume the thief was thinking then he asked the summoner.

 “If your eidolon hunts whatever it eats and the last of the 4 food storage bins is full of rations where do you store your and / or what do you use as food?”

(basically stating that they had just dumped the porpoise hork flavored rations in to the summoners bin without thinking about it) Caught off guard buy this we had to think of something quick, but after another longer pause he elaborated.

Thief - “because your other Bin has your alchemy/ medical supplies and spare clothes at the bottom, and the one with the locks and false bottom with a hidden compartment has your under pants, notes, maps, spell books, a pouch of gemstones, your finer clothes and what seems to be another black cover notebook written in full drow with a combination of invisible, red and, black ink, and your last bin has your products and is hidden under the floor.”

Summoner- “What in the hell are you doing going through my things again”

Thief- “Don’t change the subject until you Give me a proper answer. Have you been eating eating drifters again? Are we going to have to sift through the job board for missing persons posters?”

Summoner- “Stop reading my journal and stop going through my things.”

Thief- now point a knife at us. “still waiting for the answer.” 

Paladin- “He has a point as I have yet to see you eat anything... well anything that was not suppose to be on the whole toxic/ poisonous to normal people, and I am now wanting to know what you do consider food.”

Eidolon- “You will be surprised.”

Thief- “So will you tell us?”

Our eidolon just belched and stared at us as his response.

At this point The summoner just admitted to not keeping any kind of food stock saved up as it was just extra things to carry, and that most of how he was raised was biased on the idea that there is food everywhere and If you are starving you are not trying hard enough and you fail at living, and admitting that he onle really eats once every few days. What fallowed next was alot of yelling  and the summoner getting hit repeatedly with a ladle while being called dumb. 

Thief- “know-wonder you are the shortest and smallest guy here.”

We were going to protest but.

Thief- “Paladin, eidolon, and you are almost the same height as me but only match my frame with almost 7 layers of clothes on.”

We were then scolded for a while about eating properly and told if we are not present at all meals and seen eating, He will get the paladin involved and thought the thief and summoner hitting each other is like catching  wind the paladin has found his holds hit more reliably and that once established the summoner has 0 options to get out of it aka force feeding.
