Watch my TEDx talk to learn how to shift your mindset, find your inner strength, and overcome your past by embracing the lesson of the chicken wing - the ability to re-sauce yourself! It will have you laughing, thinking, and craving a good chicken wing! How will you re-sauce yourself?
Our minds aren’t distracted. Our minds crave distractions.
MY @taylorswift INSPIRED TED TALK IS
FINALLY
HERE 😭😭😭
I’m amazed that it premiered the same weekend as Miss Americana because they BOTH speak to how we support ambitious young women
I am so happy to got to speak about Taylor and fearlesssness on one of the biggest stages in the world, and share my story and advice on how we can better support ambitious young women.
Fearlessness is not the absence of fear. Sometimes, girls are bombarded with messages like "chase your dreams" but if we are so focused and

“We are finite beings within infinity, and if we are alive to this, it sharpens our appreciation of the fact that we exist.”
The main question of this talk is, “What’s wrong with dying?”
It’s not often how I think about it, because I understand death is a necessity. Life requires life. Life continues through the death of other life. Even as a vegetarian, I need plant life to live. My cats, obligate carnivores, need creatures to die so they are sustained.
Life needs life.
So what is wrong with dying?
I can think of many personal, selfish things that make dying “wrong”, but I understand that my desires are at fault. Wanting to go on forever does not make it right, or even a good. Not in the scheme of things. Yes, I will be inconvenienced by death, and yes, I desire to go on endlessly (unlike the woman in the Ted Talk, I think I’d be okay being Sisyphus)...but I am aware that all that she says is true.
So let’s ask “what’s wrong with dying?”
Let’s look at it logically. Let’s consider how dying inconveniences us, and do what we can to mitigate that inconvenience as much as possible.
We are just the ones who are different from today’s society. Our problem is “executive functioning.” Because we weren’t created for the way the world works today.
But in the good old days, people with ADHD were more well nourished than others. We are the hunting and gathering badasses. We were the protectors, the ones who could be distracted from the every day..

And by the way... you don’t have to be physically hyper to have ADHD. That is more prominent in boys with ADHD. I HAVE WHATS CALLED “inattentive ADHD” which presents more dominantly in females, which means my mind is never quiet and always running from one thing to the next. We also have the ability to hyper focus and perfect anything we are sincerely interested in until we don’t want to anymore. I’ve ALWAYS been the quiet one who tested amazing in school. 4+ years ahead in every subject.. yet I never finished and most of the time never passed because “executive function”
Deadlines. Time management. 9-5 schedule.
Things that were never important to me because I was onto something else.
I knew the stuff, I just didn’t fit the form.
I have the “daydreamer” presentation.
I was made for the earth and humankind. Not society.
