And suddenly, you feel him again. In the back of your mind [joy joy joy of all joys-] and you feel warm for the first time in decades. And the wonderful thing? It STAYS for HOURS. Your T’hy’la, back from death, THERE again-

And then he’s gone, as if it were a dream. Your mind is empty and cold again [and hurts so SO badly-]

I've been reading a Star Trek Book called Prophecy and Change. It's an anthology of short stories that take place between episodes of DS9. So I've been reading as I go through the show and I've been flipping to the pages that introduce each story so that I know when I can read the next story.

This is the last story in the book.

Now when I saw this I was like "What's The Dream Box?". And after a bit of research, it seems to be another name for The Nexus. You know? The Nexus? The two-man show Andrew Robinson wrote and performed with Siddig at conventions that was never recorded and only recently (like as of six-ish years ago) has had a transcript findable on the internet. This book was released in 2003. How often was The Nexus/The Dream Box performed? How prevalent was it in the fandom in the early 2000's? What was it like live (because it is a trip whole reading it)?

Absolutely insane that The Nexus is implied to be required reading for this story. Andrew J. Robinson you mad lad.

really specific thought about garak living through the plague on cardassia post dominion war. him administering vaccinations in person, all day every day. him spending time in clinics and doctors offices and makeshift hospitals. him smelling antiseptics and disinfectants and thinking of julian because garak can smell him everywhere around him all the time. but julian's never there.
