I've mainly got 2 questions
When writing Harlequin, how can someone describe his behavior when he's sad?/upset?guilty?
(I mean, as in how do you often make him seem emotional yet himself)
2- Is stoker open about his human relationship with monsters, or does he just keep it under the table?
How to write Harlequin being sad/upset/guilty while STILL being in-character? Make it that he basically shuts down. When Harlequin is sad, he is QUIET.
That alone is strange behavior for him and would alert those around him that something is wrong. Harlequin can lash out, even BEGGING for a fight if he's upset or guilty. I wouldn't be surprised if he literally went up to Pierrot and stabbed him JUST so that Pierrot would punch him in the face. Harlequin might even let Pierrot beat him up because he believes he deserves it.
The end of the second chapter of my jalapeño fic as well as the third chapter explore this well, I think.
2.) SO. ALSO A GREAT QUESTION.
Stoker, when he's single, doesn't draw attention to that---he knows other monsters would be wary of him at best or think of him as an abomination at worst. Some monsters get curious about his necklace to which he shrugs off, implying that they're from his 'victims' so that they'll stop pestering him.
Stoker only talks about his affairs with humans to monsters he deems trustworthy or similar to him (hence why he tells Pierrot almost right away). Plus, The TrainMan is ''''''strangely'''''' loved by humans throughout for some heroic deed or two he did. Because of this, most monsters steer clear of him since, to them, he might be claiming territory with ever store/establishment he enters.
But yeah---TLDR; he mostly keeps it under the table, but because of his good reputation with humans and that he often has a human lover, most monsters steer clear of him---assuming he's pulling an elaborate feeding scheme.
