YESSS this is my perfect excuse to lay out the groundswork for this AU 🥹🥹
A/N: Sooo this is kind of a really rough layout cuz I didn't flesh out a lot of things, it's just the concept..otherwise the post would've been wayyy too long. Also the yandere elements I didn't get to go too in depth with but I could always make a separate post for it. I also left a lot of stuff vague
You're a broke college student looking for a way to make some extra cash and during one of your online searches you come across a very simple ad for a babysitter. It wasn't all glammed up like most of the others, very straight to the point. The details included watching over a pair of six-year old twins during the daytime on weekends, though the timings could be flexible if necessary.
The pay is what really caught your eye though. That much for a simple babysitting gig on the weekend? You're surprised no one has taken this offer up sooner. Plus, a flexible schedule? It's like the job was made for you!
Tholindis ends up being the first one between the couple that you meet, maintaining a very polite and warm demeanor as she welcomes you inside their modest home. It's a pleasant first impression, you think, even the children— a twin boy and girl— are darlings. You have a feeling you might end up liking this little part-time more than you originally thought.
You meet Rerir later the day, after he's returned from his work. Unfortunately Tholindis was temporarily out of the house so the first meeting was slightly awkward on your end, but at least he was given a heads up previously so he was somewhat familiar with you. Though you'd be lying if you said he wasn't a little bit intimidating even if he isn't trying to be.
You work the agreed weekend watches for while and truly do enjoy yourself. The twins are easy to work with and cooperative with any limits you're advised to enforce by their parents. They seem to like you a lot as well, generally speaking. And it's pretty heartwarming how excited they get whenever you happen to be supervising them for the day. Tholindis had once joked that you're like a second mother to them, and you had simply laughed it off.
But maybe it wasn't entirely a joke.
From Rerir and Tholindis's perspective, they were never expecting anything out of this. They just wanted someone who could look after their children while they were at work. Someone they could trust and you just happened to fill that role very well. It was even mildly amusing to see how fond the little ones grew of you.
Even when you weren't around, they'd occasionally ask things like 'when's the nice lady coming back to play again?' The twins seemed to actively crave your presence. But at first Rerir and Tholindis didn't give it too much thought, children are just like that, aren't they?
Tholindis would've been the first one to bring it up though. On a day they both were home, but you had still come over to watch the children anyway as per the latter's insistent request. The two of them watched you engage with the young ones in the living area from the kitchen. She was the first to speak up, mentioning how sweet you were.
And Rerir had to agree, they had gotten lucky with someone like you. You didn't make much fuss about schedules, were kind and patient to the children, trustworthy around their belongings and never once tried to steal anything. True, it was basic decency but sometimes such is difficult to come by nowadays.
Tholindis nodded, sipping some tea as she brought up how much the twins liked you. They've never gotten attached to anyone like that before. Anyone that wasn't their parents, that is. Rerir suspected that maybe there was just something pure about you that they were drawn to, though it was simply speculation.
Conversations like that would only get more common, as the topic of you seemed to surface a lot in idle talk. Tholindis seemed to think you were a cute little thing, still so shy and skittish around the two even after working with them all this time. During the times when either one of them happened to be around and struck up a small chat, you'd barely hold it before making some sort of excuse to check up on the children. Tholindis thought it was adorable, even mentioning it to Rerir at some point.
He simply nodded along with his wife's comment. While he may not necessarily describe your behavior as 'cute', it is somewhat amusing to see if not slightly puzzling as to why you're so... avoidant. Nonetheless it makes them slightly curious about you.
But curiosity can be dangerous.
When they offered you extra pay if you could manage a few extra days during the week, you simply viewed it as a sort of 'promotion'. One which you happily took, figuring you could squeeze in a few hours here and there.
The twins were delighted to see more of you and by extension, pleasing their parents with the fact they could have someone they're so fond of be able to look after them more. But while they wouldn't admit it out loud, Rerir and Tholindis were quietly happy to see more of you too.
What would start out as extra days during the week would inevitably turn into a full schedule (once you could manage it of course). And then into the two of them subtly trying to find ways to convince you to stick around more often. Offering for you to have dinner with them, to help them out with something, trying to prolong conversations before you leave.
They just enjoy your company...that's all.
You tend to agree most of the time out of politeness. Though it does get to a point where you realize you're basically spending all your freetime at the house of the couple you merely babysit for outside of your classes on campus. Your dorm is basically collecting dust considering you only seem to sleep in it. Not really 'live'.
At one point you do consider the possibility of quitting, you've made a substantial amount since you've started this 'gig' though it doesn't really feel like one anymore. But by now you've gotten to know them so well you feel a little bad to just...go. And the children! You couldn't bare to imagine their heartbroken expressions if they were told you'd never be coming back.
So you continued with this sort of routine you made for yourself.
Though, maybe one day, just maybe the front door to that couple's home won't open when you try to leave again.
Okayyy sooo I was curious about the rest of what you wrote for Rerir... Rerir finally got out of the moon gate (of course he will, he has a weekly boss for nod krai anywayy) met with you. Let's say you have feelings for him too...How would that be??, 💞

Surprise, surprise, another random idea for a Furina!MC au. God, this is a really strange idea, but I had to share it!
Yeah, so, if ya'll have played through the new update, where we get to see Rerir's backstory... and his girlfriend, Tholindis.
The idea I'm going for is when Tholindis falls through that portal, she ends up in modern day Fontaine (Be it a couple or so months before the arrival of the Traveler) where Furina!MC finds her and takes her in as an assistant when a panicked Tholindis lies about having amnesia and having nowhere to go...
Long story short... Tholindis grows attached to Furina!MC. VERY attached. And once the prophecy passes, she and Furina!MC leave Fontaine for Nod Krai as a way to get away from bad memories... only, Tholindis wasn't prepared to run into her old lover, or well... what was left of him...
Basically, what I'm trying to get at... Tholindis x Furina!MC x Rerir? Maybe even possible Yandere Tholindis/Rerir x Furina!MC? Thoughts?
Does Columbina- well, future columbina I guess- often deliver fenrir's messages? Who are they for? Is it for future us and fenrir can't leave the moon usually? Or is it for tholindis? I know they're both in the moon space together, but I do also remember that moon space being very good at keeping them apart, is that still happening or can columbina influence the space enough for fenrir and tholindis to meet?

You pull a screen and start to type out your message to Columbina when it vibrates, making you startle and click a button on accident
“It worked!” Columbina's face appears pleased “You taught me how to use your screen in my time space- so I'm glad you knew what to do in a sudden situation. I saw the little icon pop up on the screen you gifted me and decided to call instead”
you breathe out a relieved sigh and lean into Rerirs side, who squints down at it so, so confused. So while she is on screen, you both ask your questions
“There's only one exit to the moon's reflection.” She answers plainly “but many entrances, the thing is - the entrance is constantly moving forward.”
Her face drops a little “It's connected to Teyvat’s dominant authority, currently residing in Celestia.”
“As for Tholindis. You gave me her ring yourself after grabbing it from Flin's lantern where it appeared.” You look at her surprised “You already knew where I was headed when the doctor had come for me. The whole of the court was there when you’d revealed my ‘death’. Everyone still believed what you'd said when you reacted so harshly to that update but… they still worked to find me regardless.”
“Rerir can't open portals, no.” she perks back up a slight smug smile on her face “hes not a god, he is an abyssal altered human- though with your bond running through him i suppose he could be considered a demi-god like the others now. I deliver the messages most of the time since I visit for training with the Archons and you.”
she shifts in place and leans against her backrest.
“I suppose I could farm those creatures from the leylines but that would just feed me more light, my issues are knowing how to use it” she sighs “You and I are learning together at the moment, and you have spent a lot of materials to ascend me. you mentioned something about having to wait until I was available to guide, which fell after I became the Lunar Authority.”
“I… don't have the ability to do all that just yet I think, and it takes so long to walk back and forth 500 years to where Tholindis sits and where the exit is so I have to limit the amount of messages I'm ferrying.” She looks slightly guilty at the admission.
“Time is easy to alter within Teyvat but not on the moon's reflection, and the moon's reflection only exists within the borders of Teyvat..” She counts on her fingers “2 years later from when you currently are, so my access is limited in the past, however I can make a temporary exit past that point in time, not before.“
“That also affects us sending messages back in time. Anything I take back will eventually forget. My name Hyposelenia doesn't exist at that point in time so they slowly forget about it,, Items i bring back disappear, they forget me…” her shoulders bunch “So ensure Rerir stays within your Serenitea pot realm, or else he may disappear too if he gets cut from your bond and strays too far.”
Lowkey what we think about modern AU rerindis (retirement & tholindis) as a milf + dilf couple who have children and they're BOTH yandere for you, their young and polite babysitter.
Like they want you to become the newest addition to their family while you only see the babysitting as a side gig for extra cash (even though the children are sweethearts)
And lowkey there COULD be stepcest elements when they make you call them mommy and daddy while they fuck your brains out... Hmmm..
circling back to this post to reimagine it with the idea of blemishes on your skin where your soulmate touches you first. except mg!reader has two different sized handprints. one large deep purple handprint on her throat and smaller light green ones covering her eyes.
the first time mg!reader meets her soulmate rerir he’s choking her on the battle field as she’s protecting her sister columbina and the traveler, lifting her into the air. it fizzles in her soul as his hand melts into her skin and rerir drops her in shock, clutching at his arm like the acknowledgment will dissipate into nothingness.
when mg!reader meets tholindis it’s in the moon gate. tholindis recognizes her from some weird memory puddle thingamabobs that showed her rerir’s memories. so she covers mg!reader’s eyes and asks “guess who?” and gasps in shock when the green handprints over mg!reader’s eyes flash brightly and fade away like a dying star.
Pass along messages? For who fenrir? Is it for tholindis? Last I remember while you were both in the same space you couldn't really meet there, some moon domain fuckery, though since columbina is the true lunar goddess there could/has she changed that rule so you can meet? Is it a message for back in the timeline? And if so for who back there? Us?

“Mostly to Tholindis- you’re right when you say we can't meet each other” he carts his fingers through his hair before looking up at you, grip tightening on the image in his hands "She's just a human… She was never mean to exist on the moon.”
he pats the seat next to him for you to sit beside him as he speaks “She doesn't have the same constitution that I, Hyposelenia or Luna has- and she's been residing in that timeless space a lot longer than the three of us, She cant leave from her spot and i can only reside in the general vacinty of Hyposelenias' in and out portal or else i'll become like her myself, our bind is what keeps us both alive there”
“She hasn't told me how her powers work - Hyposelenia, that is, I'm sure she'll tell you if you ask though” he looks back down and lifts it to show you
“Another thanks is in order too.” he holds out his hand where two rings sit
“This is Tholindis and I's promise ring” he thumbs the odd rose gold ring. It's not a wedding band, not even a ring
“She tore it off of her clothing that was left behind, and handed it to Hyposelenia, from then on when the moon goddess had the time, she or Luonatar would ferry them.” he looks fondly turning over the polaroid to show you the light writing on it back
“We're only friends now. It's a mutual arrangement, but we still have lived our lives together...” he admits “future you had met her once and she gained consciousness for a little bit, you also send letters as well. your lingering energy seems to awaken her sometimes, we exhanged letters and agreed we'd both want to be a part of your court.”
he moves his hand and the image to his stomach, a hug without crushing it
“She’s slowly healing, so it's very far and in between that the letters happen. but the fact we even have that chance- that's all thanks to you - she has a ring too, the one that binds us, it keeps her soul tether byt because shes located so far away from where the portal sits, it doesnt flow to her as it doe me. Hyposelenia delivered the ring to her, how she got it… Well again, im personally not privy to it” he grunts out the last part.
"Don't get it wrong, we're not friends either. she holds a grudge, and i did hurt her friends and you when my heart…” his voice drifts off pained. "Sorry, im not comfortable admitting my sins to you..."
