Past: Six of Wands. This is a card about celebrating a period of victory and success. It’s also important to acknowledge that this card reminds us this success wouldn’t have been possible without support- the figures in the background and the horse the figure rides on remind us of the importance of support systems, and how they help us reach our goals. So that being said, here is my unpopular opinion as a Jammer: whatever you feel about PN, she’s been around as long as she has because she is actually a supportive presence in some way. When I read on her I get a light, nice energy. I think I’d like her if I knew her. I get why Sam does too. I didn’t hate my time reading on her, but I hate all the conversations surrounding her. I digress. Leading up to this trip, there was success, community, and celebrations.

Present: Three of Cups. I love this card. This was an early contender for the name of this blog. The three of cups is a card about joy, friendship, support, celebrations, and, yes, love. How couldn’t it be? They’re in a beautiful place. They’re together. A period of hard work and stress has passed. They’re enjoying some much needed relaxation. It seems they actually are enjoying one another’s company, despite some of my earlier card draws for them. That being said…

Future: Nothing gold can stay. For the future I drew The Moon, Reversed. In a relationship, the moon reversed symbolizes cracks in the foundation. There’s a fundamental issue here that hasn’t been addressed in all this time the relationship has been growing. One, or both of them, is in denial about it. This is what’s interfering with the relationship truly deepening. If they can work through this problem together, then they can move forward and advance to the next level of their relationship. But the problem may be that the relationship was formed on a fundamental misunderstanding that one or both is unwilling or unable to address.

Then I read on Jam for the fuck of it.

Past: The Devil. At this point you all are tired of hearing my “Devil isn’t bad card, represents many things” spiel so I won’t type all of that here. I do think it stands for dependence specifically here. I think it’s a nod to the quick, “codependent” relationship they formed in the past.

Present: Knight of Cups. They… still feel deeply for each other. Despite everything. This card suggests they’re deep in their feelings right now. The knight of cups can symbolize a connection that has the potential to deepen over time, if nurtured well.

Future: Two of Cups, Reversed. There are outside forces that are pulling their attention in different directions. They’ll have to decide if they can make time and space for one another. This bond is deep, one of a kind, significant- but it needs to be nurtured to survive.

My clarifying card was the two of wands, crossed. This is a card about making decisions, and planning carefully for the future. Again, Jam will have to decide what direction they both want to go, and how they fit in to one another’s lives.

I have recently embraced astrology and tarot.

At first, it scared me because I thought I was seeing signs or something bad was going to happen. </3

After reflection, I think that I use them as a tool to bring my thoughts and emotions to the forefront. I tend to think logically and neglect my intuition and feelings.

So, I am going to start journaling about my horoscope and daily tarot readings (I think I will make a post every week or two unless you guys like this)

Today would have been my Great Grandma Evelyn's birthday. I named my daughter after her. I am thinking of her today. <3

I like this because, yes, life is about dreaming, hoping, and working for better, for more. I am always thinking about how I can get the things, the people, the recognition that I want.

Reflection:

I do often doubt myself. I think that I must work and work and work until something is absolutely pristine before I ever show it to anyone.

This is why I am in my head so much, I think. I don't share my opinions or ideas unless I believe doing so will impress someone or get me recognition.

This month

"This month, you have to focus on how to find meaning when you feel trapped."

Reflection:

I am always searching for meaning. I think that’s why I got back into astrology, especially after a hard Christmastime, the new year came and I was incredibly hungover and anxious about the state of my life.

Then, my birthday was in early January, and I realized I'm nearly 25. I do feel trapped in my life at times, but the thing is, I enjoy the reliability of staying in my comfort zone. I am currently trying to force myself out of my comfort zone without being impulsive.

When I feel trapped in a bad situation, I tend to flee. I am working on remaining positive through hard times.

Reflection:

This makes me think about how I always measure myself in comparison to others. I don’t think I really know what my own personality is. I think I have learned to mask so well that I just mirror whoever I am with.

I was always taught that money is important to have and that I have to get a degree, a good job, get married, and have kids. You know, conformity. I am working on placing my personal connections and enjoyment of life before the material things in life. I want to measure my life by the people around me, not meaningless numbers that symbolize how well I am doing in life (bank account balances, salaries, material possessions). I have also dealt with poverty and homelessness, so having a safety net of money is essential for me.

A Midnight Spread for Tired Clarity

I came up with this spread last night sitting in bed at 3am, utterly exhausted but something in me still wanting to pull some cards. I've been struggling with mild-to-moderate akathisia (a sort of hyper-restlessness on steroids) and have had trouble sleeping recently. This spread helped my mind calm and finally try to rest.

The Midnight Clarity Spread.

Purpose: When it's late at night, you're exhausted, but you still want to do a reading for some reason. Too tired for full ritual, too full and busy for sleep.

Layout: A standard three-card spread in a horizontal line, left-to-right. Plus an optional extra 4th card to the right of the 3rd.

Card 1: What's Echoing? This is the thing that's still reverberating in your body or mind. A note that lingers. A symbolic frequency that you haven't shaken off yet. It could be a conversation, a fear, a belief, a wish, a yearning, a wound, or just a noise.

Card 2: What's Leaving? This is what your system is trying to release -- it's done with you, even if you're not done with it. A symbolic pattern that doesn't want to stretch into tomorrow and ride onward with you. It's the ghost you keep around by accident.

Card 3: What's Mine to Keep? What part of today is truly yours -- what can you take away cupped to your chest? What felt clear, aligned, meaningful, real, or like it truly belongs to you? It can be just a small thing. This is your thread into tomorrow -- it's what you can carry forward.

(Optional) Card 4: What Should I Dream On? Let your subconscious play with this card while you rest. Ruminate on it, especially if you've been actively ruminating on a plethora of other things (you know who you are!). Let it guide you into the rest of the night. If it's constructive, try to embody it, even just mentally. If it's scary, dream on why that is -- and what that fear brings up in you.

The three card spread I pulled today while meditating on something I can do to safeguard my children's lives. WOOO doggy.

I have been convinced for years that moving back home to be with my Kanaka Maoli community has been the key to my children's safety; it is a HUGE point of contention between me and my husband. It's not that he doesn't want to move, it's just the finances are FUCKED. He still has to physically go into the office multiple days a week for this job he absolutely loves and he is our single source of income, hooray!

Anyway, what the fuck.

THE CHARIOT: The triumphant crow, soaring through the stormy sky with fearlessness and strength, rides a chariot of thunderous clouds to victory. The Chariot is a sign to go forward with confidence, and your well-executed plan will be a success. It asks that you summon your power to fly above the barriers and soar through obstacles. The crow who rides victoriously on the chariot has learned to harness his aggression, extracting only the positive energy required to finish the task.

DEATH: The Crow has let go and has made peace with the change that must take place for her life to move forward in a positive direction. Her death is symbolic of transformation and comes with a warning that unless you are willing to allow the part of you to die that is holding you back, the pain or discomfort you feel in the future will be genuine. This card marks a profound change is coming, one that has the possibility of creating a positive outcome, that is of course if you can allow the change to happen without fear of the unknown.

QUEEN OF CUPS: On her throne surrounded by the ocean’s bounty, the serene queen stares out into the water where she connects with her subconscious mind and receives messages from her higher self. The cup in front of her is covered with feathers and represents her inner thoughts. The Queen of Cups denotes loving, intuitive energy that may be found in an older woman in your life during a time that you seek healing. This energy may also manifest in yourself during times of need and self-love. The Queen of Cup brings a gift of compassion and emotional connectedness that may be directed toward you or that you will direct to another in need.
