i think in the same way you have to remove threats of suicide from your internal vocabulary for the sake of your mental wellbeing you should also remove threats of murder from your external vocabulary for the sake of your capacity to interact with other people. especially threats to entire demographics i'm sick of reading 'kill all [group]' like thats in any way a normal thing to say.

i say this, as a white trans man to other white tme trans people: clinging to cis white womanhood is not going to save us.

what i mean by this is: many of us (and i include myself in this fully) have to unlearn this notion that we are always the most vulnerable people in the room, and that people, especially marginalized people, should trust us implicitly, because we couldn't hurt them even if we wanted to. this is just not true.

when we get angry at those in our community affected by transmisogyny, racism, antiblackness, etc. for wanting their own spaces, or not implicitly trusting us, we are feeding into systems of white supremacy and patriarchy. you have internalized the rules of an unfair society and you are trying to reproduce them.

i could say that this is going to be extremely harmful to us in the long run, and that is true, but the most important point here is that we are already causing harm to others.

stop calling trans women "terfs". stop brushing off racism as "infighting".

Heya all.

I've seen a lot of shit going on with tumblr recently and have decided to throw my hat in the ring. I often see the nuance in situations and have a few takes on what's going on that I haven't seen expressed really anywhere?

Occasionally I've been seeing posts about Transmisogyny and Transandrophobia/transmisandry sliding across my dash. For the most part, they've seemed to simply garner solidarity for those falling under the affect of those two blights. This, I believe is perfectly okay, and at the time I didn't think much of it. Humans as a species have come up with words to define situations and struggles that they face, and new words to define new groups of struggle is well within anyone's rights to create, and often quite helpful to those dealing with it!

However, every once in a while I would come across a post that claimed it was transmisogynistic for trans men to say they they suffered from Transandrophobia, or vise versa. This is where my criticisms lie. The minimizing or diminishing of another's struggles is a terrible thing, it makes their struggles seem lesser while also pushing people away from your own cause.

Just because someone is going through more than you/"worse" things than you does not mean their struggles are less valid than yours. We are in this shit together, and all our rights and lives are being threatened. Arguing that our brothers and sisters in arms aren't "valid" because they don't have "x problem" is only a distraction from our fight against those that wish to eradicate us. I truly feel the conversation needs to shift from "what group has it worse" (helps nobody, encourages putting others down) to "what groups needs help first. cool! let's help everyone but give special attention to those at the highest risk" (now focuses on AIDING others, encourages collective action).

Also! To the people who say transmisandry isn't real because men can't be oppressed, while men are not typically oppressed*, The idea of *blank*-ny is both a discussion of oppression AND prejudice. The entire existence of radical feminism is a pretty solid indicator that people can be prejudiced towards men. because of this, we can confirm misandry does in fact exist. so this by extension means that Transmisandry also does in fact exist. EVEN IF Misandry didn't exist, there are people that do not see trans men as men, and have prejudices towards trans men. therefore, transmisandry would still be real.

*everyone is hurt by the patriarchy. men are policed and forced into their roles just as much as everyone else. Often more visibly too. If the group that is supposed to "hold strong" and be the "better ones" starts showing qualities of those deemed "lesser" it tends to stand out more. there's a reason why femboys are so much more stigmatized than tomboys.

Final thing! While I do think the terms Transmisogyny and Transandrophobia are great for categorizing types of harm, the terms TME (Transmisogyny Exempt) and TMA (Transmisogyny Affected), which are used to categorize how people are effected by specifically Transmisogyny, are great IN THEORY, but in practice fall apart very easily. As a binary with 2 possible states, it fails at 3 very important points, the third being more a failing of systems around it.

1. it fails to account for the fact that EVERYONE is effected by Transmisogyny to some degree. the policing of transfem bodies affects trans women the most (by nature of being "Transmisogyny"), but it also affects trans men, NB people, cis people, everyone. Remember when a transmasc, who was forced to use the women's bathrooms, got the cops called on him anyway cause everyone thought he was a trans woman? Or cis women consistently getting hassled in bathrooms for having too many "masculine" features? (sorry for bathroom examples just the first 2 that came to mind) Both are examples of people's prejudice against trans women, but are against people who aren't transfem.

2. It largely fails at addressing shades of grey. even in a world in which trans men and cis people weren't affected by Transmisogyny, it still fails to account for nonbinary people. it struggles to deal with the nuance of the human experience as a whole.

3. it fails to have a Transandrophobia counterpart (to my knowledge), which EVERYONE is also effected by. Also an apology, I cannot think of an example off the top of my head but there are examples. really sucks that an example of Transmisandry is their hyper-invisibility in the news and media. anywayyyyyyy those are my takes on this shit, i got a few other takes i might air out tomorrow but rn i gotta sleep it is 5 in the morning right now i spent like 3 hours writing this :P

I think I understand why suggestrogen (ISFF) is acting the way she does.

Her recent statements, more or less starting with the "excluding pedophiles is like doing an LGB without the T" post, were calculated. She's not Dumb. She knew exactly what kind of shitstorm that statement would cause.

In an attempt to regain her former follower base that was lost when her other account was banned, she just said the most controversial thing she could think of, knowing she would be defended by other transfems and trans women because what she said is kinda sorta technically BARELY "correct" if you completely ignore the consensus on what the word pedophile means.

Pedophile is generally understood as a description for people attracted to children, AND/or actively predating on children or searching for CSAM. She knows this.

But to her, lolicons and non-offending "MAPs" already being called pedophiles by some people is enough to just say outright that 'pedophiles should not be kicked out'.

She has stated that many, or the majority of people reacting negatively to her post comparing Pedophile-exclusoon to the LGB without the T thing, are TERFs, as if that would help her with anything. But she knew exactly what people her shitty post would attract. She wanted TERFs to come to that post so she could play the victim.

She can now present herself as a poor fragile trans woman being pedojacketed for no reason, distracting people from her previous bigotry and TOS-breaking actions like telling people to kill themselves, all while growing her influence.

She's using people's outrage over CSA for her own clout and to hide her other crimes.

and i dont mean not speaking about your experiance and naming it, you should speak about your experiance and name it how you want it, even inventing new words to better describe one's life is really great

i just dont understand "i am 'specific opression' affected and people who arent exactly like me never experianced that kind of opression" when people that ARENT exactly like you might look at the specific opression you listed and go "ive experiance this, i feel this and resonate with this but im not exactly like that person"

and when they actually do speak about that experiance suddenly they are evil because YOU dont agree that they've been affected by this, thus they cant be "specifc opression affected" and besides it was a stray bullet, not meant for them, accident, well they arent affected the way you are affected and oh they will name it something else? thats bad too, because how dare someone speak about their experiance and name it how they want to name it to better express themselfs

im not asking whats the point of speaking about your experiance or naming it, im asking why would you rather identify with an opression you face rather than who you ARE

and then to top it all, from what ive seen, many make posts wishing trans people de-transitioning or death - thats just horrifying
