I always found it funny that so many people ship everyone with Steve, but I'm the odd one shipping everyone with Jonathan: Byergrove, Tomathan/Bagan, Jancy, Stonathan, Stoncy, 'Jargyle, Jomantha, Eddithan....
More oc octobers I neglected to upload here. These are my main characters. The original universe was based on rock and metal genres, but it's expanded to encompass basically every mundane character I've created in other cities. Get ready for some longass explanations.
80's-90's rock OCs:
PUSSYWHIP: Los Angeles. shock rock, cock rock, glam punk. Formed from the ashes of THE PENETRATORS when Vicky was kicked out for being an insane control freak. Vicky VD on backing vox and lead guitar, Angus is puppeteered as the "frontman" on rhythm guitar and vox. Eddie "Dirty Sanchez" is the deadman on bass. Skeets on drums.
THE PENETRATORS: Los Angeles. arena rock, cock rock, pop metal. Originally formed with Vicky on guitar, he was replaced with Benny and Jet after the spaghetti incident. Soon after, their sound went more radio-friendly and they found more success than Vicky's future ventures. Jizzy on Vox, Johnny on rhythm guitar. Benny "Donut" and Jet on lead and rhythm guitar. Jack on drums.
ANGELRAPER: Tampa, Florida. speed/thrash/death metal. This ill-named band was created by Tomathan when he was in high school track with Ricky and Alexi. He couldn't think of anything more sacreligious than an angel who assaults the children of god. They're still more of a garage band than a serious endeavor, but they have fun in the storage shed they call a practice room. Tommy "Angelraper" on vox and bass. Alexi "Corpsehumper" on guitar. Ricky "Pretty Ricky" "Tacofucker" (it was late and a dare ok) on drums.
90's mundane guys:
Prophet and Priest. Prophet used to be a musician in the 70's-80's. He was injured in an accident (hairspray, fire), and became very depressed and traumatized. Stopped making music. When Priest was a kid, he was Prophet's biggest fan. Now he's all grown up with a job n' shit, and he finds his favorite musician living in a dumpster next to his workplace. Homosexuality and cult-like brainwashing ensues. Nice!
2000's mundane guys:
Ollie and Basile and Liv. Boston, Brookyln, or San Francisco depending on my mood. Ollie and Liv are the same person in different bodies. Basile is their grouchy neighbor. You should know them by now. You can read more about them on my site.
Bobert and Chad. San Francisco. They go to SFSU and room together. Bobert works at Urban Outfitters, dresses as an 80's goth (he was born in the wrong decade dammit!!!) and is a creative writing major who writes erotic fanfiction as a hobby. Chad is a computer science major. They don't understand each other much, but they're good friends.
Ye Olde Dayz
Witchhunter and Witch. Somewhere in olde Germany. The witchhunter killed the witch's family. The witch reprogrammed him and repurposed his body to serve her. The witch is a necromancer whose power is drawn from her own blood, but her young body doesn't hold enough blood to revive her family into horrible undead minions yet. The witchhunter was eventually reborn as Bobert in its next life.

It's also about Jonathan himself-Jonathan is just a very under appreciated, loveable, adorable little gumdrop that deserves all the love and appreciation in the world [that usually doesn't get it] and he is a character that I can't get enough of.
I really appreciate his character how hes the moral compass that chooses love over power everytime and stays true to himself. How he just wants to take care of everyone else and does everything in his power to make sure those he loves happy and well cared for.
How he is proud to be a freak even when most of Hawkins tells him its not acceptable. How he thinks for himself and doesn't think how people tell him to-like Hawkins is homophobic, but not Jonathan, he thinks what makes you different makes you beautiful and special. Hes really accepting of people who are considered the freaks and weirdos/he thinks for himself and appreciates what makes them so unique. How he grew up in a place like Hawkins where people think being unique is some type of sin, but Jonathan thinks that is the greatest thing about someone.
How he leads everyone he comes in contact with to be the best version of themselves and thats canon [Will, Steve, Nancy, ext ext]. Hes really wise for his age and has been through the most awful things in life and yet all that pain and suffering just made him kinder/more loving and he leads all the lost people down the right path in life.
How he could have been like his dad and chose to continue the cycle of abuse, but instead did everything in his power to not be like Lonnie/overcame his own trauma built himself up everything he accomplished there he did that on his own. He chose to be the exact opposite of Lonnie and made it his personal mission in life to protect Will to love him to devote his life to making sure Will always happy, well cared for, and remind Will constantly that is loved and Will is the most important person to him in the world that he would do anything for.
He also loves the weirdos that aren't appreciated in a place like Hawkins. He is such a rare find in Hawkins and has this completely different mindset to a lot of the people there so those people that don't get the love and respect they deserve either-Jonathan fixes that and makes it his mission in life to show them they matter more than anyone.
The ships are usually this hurt/comfort love fest that has a lot of drama and depressing elements to it that turns into some sort of love fest where Jonathan completely adores the other person and they adore him just as much. It's always this emotional rollercoaster with almost every ship. You could be feeling sad and sorry for Jonathan in one chapter and then happy crying in the next when that someone shows Jonathan that he has no clue how loved and appreciated he really is. Almost every Jonathan ship if not all of them always are a rollercoaster of emotions. It makes those ships really compelling and leaves you thirsty for more.
Oh I know exactly why for me but it would take too long to write out each dynamic of every Jonathan ship/why its so complex and compelling and why it works so well even though they're all different and I'm not sure that people care to read that super long post.
Another big thing for me is its because Jonathan is the perfect submissive [and a mouthy sarcastic smart mouth] so he makes every story fun and adds an element of humor and he is such a complex character that his story just fits with a lot of people and you always have a million different directions to take the story in because of their dynamic. He has a lot of chemistry with people too.
He also invites this whirlwind of emotional ups and downs into every single ship because of his past/his abuse/his trauma and how hes overcome it and how he still needs help overcoming the rest of it [the self loathing/feeling worthless]-there are so many headcanons/stories with him that have so much depth and are so emotional. It makes you feel sad because of what hes gone through, but then happy and appreciative of whoever hes with that makes him feel special and shows him the love and appreciation he always deserved but never got until now. And there are funny moments when he is being a sarcastic/sass mouth especially in the case of Stonathan because Steve can handle Jonathan's sass because hes been for years and he has to deal with it from the kids too [most of who were raised by Jonathan].
And whether intentional or not, the things they say or do to him and how they react to him in canon comes off as flirting with him and/or that person definitely having a thing for him [like Steve, Tommy, and Argyle for example] and there is a lot of potential in every Jonathan ship that has never been explored to its full potential.
Then there are the ships that are so fluff filled and sweet like Jargyle, Eddithan, even Stonathan in plenty of cases]. And the Hurt/Comfort ships that Jonathan feels like hes worthless and doesn't matter because hes been told that all his life and then his significant other shows him why that mindset is completely wrong and Jonathan is the most important person in the world to them and a lot of other people[mainly the kids/their group].
Also, I could go into a lot more detail why each ship hinges on why Jonathan is essential to making it great, but that goes hand in hand with the post I referred to above that it would be too long no one would want to read it. It's a lot of information.
Also Jonathan deserves all the love in the world, never gets it, but he does in these ships and that warms my heart. He is adorable and its nice to see him so loved and appreciated by these characters especially since the ships usually include these characters loving Jonathan for exactly who he is and appreciating/valuing him so much and loving his weirdness and showing him why he is so special and important, even though hes been told all his life [by nobodies who don't matter] that the opposite is true.
I also love all the throuple/moresome potential. You merge two ships together or three of these ships together ext and its a whole new ship with a whole new dynamic that is just as exciting.

Ok this is getting ridiculous. We need to settle on a ship name already for all of them. It's like we're spending more time settling on a ship name then we are making content for said ship and its gotten out of hand now.

The thing is-there is already a ship name for Tomathan and Jommy because of other ships from other fandoms.
So I think Hyers would be the best one to use? All in favor? Yes? Ok…

Now its come to my attention that Byergrove has FOUR different ship options for this fandom alone [and probably more I don't even want to think about that] …and this is exactly why I hate using last names for ships. It just makes everything so confusing for everyone.
I just am sick of looking for Billy x Jonathan content and then have a hard time finding any of that.
So maybe instead of Byergrove we actually use their first names or some other different arrangement:
Bonathan would work but again there are so many different things in that tag already so not a good option also it can get confused easily with someone shipping Barb and Jonathan [not that that ship exists that I know of, but it might so I'm trying not to use that one]
Jonbill is another option but I really hate this one.

I want a ship name that when I look for the content for the ship I find nothing there but stuff for Billy x Jonathan.
I would like to keep Byergrove, its a good name, but it clearly isn't working because I come across a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with Billy/Jonathan at all on every site.
or should we just keep Byergrove and add something to the end of it to specify its strictly Jonathan x Billy? Like the tag could be Byergrove [BHxJB]
Idk I like the ship name Byergrove and I'm really attached to it, but when I go to find it, its hard to find much Billy x Jonathan content all at which defeats the purpose.
