This au is basically taking the Dark Knight returns and stuffing the Batfamily into it.
Also an FYI I didnt know anything about Frank Miller Prior to the poll and do not support Antisemitism, Islamophobia, or bigotry of any kind.
I also have not read the dark knight returns nor do I intend to so this is going to be... something.
Anyways with that out of the way silly silly insanity time :D
Tw: Human trafficking, sort of? Murder, Death mention, Child Abuse, kidnappings. Also manslaughter. I think.
So from what I have read in this universe Bruce isn't adverse to killing?
Yeah no not in this AU. Maybe he isn't so against it in the initial few years but just... doesn't do it. Not like actively avoiding killing or anything. But in the initial few years there's really no rouges. Its just stopping street/white collar crime.
Bruce starts his crusade/Batman shit around age of 19
Then he (age 22) kidnaps Dick Grayson (age 8) from the cops. (Tim age 2, Jason 3, Cass 3, Barbara 10, Steph 2)
(Not kidding for those who also haven't read this series. He blinds the cops with bats and is just like "welcome to war, Soldier")
So Dick's 'training' is brutal. [I must make that man suffer. For i love him too much]
also this next bit is sort of inspired by this post here. So Alfred was retired. Once he heard Bruce, or the Batman in our case, had a kid he returned to Gotham to help raise the child... only for there to be no child in wayne manor... no he's only in the cave. Wtf Bruce.
Barbara Gordon goes out as Batgirl when shes 13 but isn't actually trained by Bruce or let into the cave until shes 15 (Dick 12-14, Barbara 14-16, Bruce 26, Tim 6-8, Jason 7-9, Carrie 3-5, Cass 7-9, Steph 5-7)
Anyways as Robin 'toughens' up, Bruce softens ever so slightly. To the point when Dick is 14 the Justice League forms, if called upon by them he will help... but given how brutal, how near death he leaves people, how mortal he is... its not very often they ask for his help. Very few league members meet Robin if at all. (Like i said Dick 14, Barbara 16, Bruce is 28, Tim 8, Jason 9, Carrie 5, Cassandra 9, Steph 7)
Also because of Dick, Bruce somewhat subconsciously puts in place the no-killing rule. Its unspoken but its just kind of there now.
Dick/Robin does not meet other sidekick. Dick turns 17 and almost kills Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and subsequently gets fired from Robin by Bruce. (Dick 17, Barbara 19, Bruce 31, Jason 12, Tim 11, Carrie 8, Cass 12, Steph 10)
Bruce intended to just have him take some time off. Maybe see a therapist because he's very clearly not over the death of his parents and fighting crime isn't helping him the way it totally helps Bruce. And then Dick freaks out and goes off the grid.
Bruce then finds Jason (around age of 12). Jason is allowed into the manor, and is training is significantly not as bad Dick's. But its still... not great. Jason as Robin is still pretty smiley. Jason as Robin (around age 14) still gets killed by Joker :(
(Dick 19, Barbara 21, Jason 14, Bruce 33, Tim 13, Carrie 10, Cass 14, Steph 13)
Bruce grieves really hard and Batman stops attending to the streets. The rogues that really just wanted the Vigilante's attention also fade to black.
I stick Tim's parents into the fridge. They are dead now. Bruce takes in his neighbor's kid. (Dick 21, Barbara 23, Bruce 35, Tim 15, Carrie 12, Cass 16, Steph 14)
Almost Five years after Jason dies Batman is back on the scene to help another Vigilante: Spoiler. And Almost immediately Tim shows up in the Batcave and is just like "im your man in the chair now" and Bruce sighs "I dont have a good track record-" "Didn't ask :)" (Dick 23, Barbara 25, Bruce 37, Tim 17, Carrie 14, Cass 18, Steph 16)
And then Carrie Kelley similarly forces herself into the role of robin. And Bruce then trains the both how to fight. (Yk incase the cave is invaded. Self defense really in Tim's case.)
The rogues who disappeared when Batman did also reappear. Namely the Joker.
Barbara is paralyzed. She becomes Oracle. (I forgot to mention this but Tim's code name is 'All seeing Eye' or 'Eye' for short.)
However Joker eventually Kidnaps Carrie Kelley and makes it look like he fed her to Killer Croc. But- after making it look like shes dead he disappears. Carrie makes her way back to the batcave. (Dick 25, Barbara 27, Bruce 39, Tim 19, Carrie 16, Cassandra 20, Steph 19)
They then get Cassandra :D
Uhoh Dick's back! Not an amazing time to be Carrie Kelly. While the family is busy in their civilian lives, Carrie is kidnapped by Dick aka Joker (II) and over 24 hours after being nabbed by Dick, he brings her back to the cave while the others are out. He manages to get Bruce back to the cave, alone. Maybe with Tim as a witness/second Hostage.
Dick gets pushed off of the walkways of the batcave into the cavern below. (Dick 26, Barbara 28, Bruce 40, Tim 20, Carrie 17, Cass 21, Kate 31, Steph 19)
A couple of weeks later Rogues start using Joker venom and other things the Joker would keep up his sleeve. Batwoman, Kate Kane, joins the war on crime.
Carrie starts living with Selina Kyle due to her and Tim having to hear about the abuse Dick was put through to make him a soldier in Batman's War.
Later Talia meets up with Bruce to introduce and reintroduce Damian Wayne and Jason Todd
(Barbara 28, Bruce 41, Tim 21, Jason 21, Carrie 18, Cass 22, Kate 32, Steph 20, Damian 10).
Damian isn't allowed to join the crusade. He only doesn't run away because Jason has decided to stay with the family and he likes being around Jason. Damian does train and spar with the family though.
Eventually they get a lead on the person supplying the rouges with Joker's shit and more recently, Robots capable of fighting (think Slade bots from teen titans but joker themed). The name is The Courts Jester. From there they find the court of Owls, which has been all but decimated. Only one Talon missing among the corpses of the Talons; William Cobb.
They come to the conclusion that William Cobb is the Court Jester. And then for a month the things the rouges are supplied with are corn themed.
And then Bruce kills a man. He didnt mean to. It was supposed to be a robot. They had all been robots in the past. In the robot was a small time villain or member of the mob. Its not entirely important. It just shocks most of the family. After that its still usually Robots. However they have to be careful, sometimes there are people under all the gears. (Bruce 45, Barbara 32, Tim, 25, Jason 26, Cass 26, Steph 24, Kate 36, Damian 14, Duke 21, Carrie 22)
Damian is eventually let into the field.
Duke is here! ... uh eventually... his parents are Jokerized by the penguin. However a year later Lexcorp develops an antidote :) totally out of nowhere :))
Also Dick's insanity in this au was also inspired by a post or fic or something but once again I can't find it. Once I do it will be here. But basically dont mix Electrum, Mirakuru, and Lazarus pit :) (especially with horrible mental health)
--now i draw before I write up pt 2 gosh darn it--
Why People Don't Like Ozzy (and why they do like other characters)
Every fandom has its favourites, and that of KG2 isn't exempt– just look at all the content of Penny, Ted, Nugget and Felix lol. But if there's one character that Kindergarten fans don't often think or care about, it's Ozzy.
At first glance, it seems obvious why. He's pretty whiny and a big downer, instantly dislikes the protag, and doesn't really have any shown positive qualities. He talks constantly about his allergies and asthma, obsesses over his routine, is willing to strangle Protag without a second thought, and the player is actively encouraged to kill him in Ted's mission.
But really, Ozzy's just, well. A five-year-old. Out of the KG cast, he's the one who acts most his age: he's rude at times, very focused on himself, and sulks about his favourite toy being broken– and those are all traits you'd expect from a kindergartener. He's surrounded by more emotionally compelling and mature characters, making him seem babyish in comparison.
His fears about his asthma and allergies are honestly valid, considering that the world in which he lives contains people constantly trying to off each other. He knows he's not well-liked, that his science teacher would (and does) use his corpse as a cadaver, that he could literally die from either of these things being set off.
Leading on from that, is his apathy regarding killing the protag really that surprising? He, like all the other students, knows what happens when people are sent to the principal's office or Danner gets out his laser gun. It wouldn't be surprising if he's just accepted death as part of his routine by then, unbothered by and desensitised to it just like the other kids.
He has problems with change, as little kids often do, and it's entirely reasonable that he's so upset about his friends getting "transferred". He just lost everyone he cared about seemingly because of the new kids, so his immediate response is to dislike them. He has a right to be worried and angry about Madison & co disappearing, most likely having seen plenty of people die in his school, but there's nothing he can do but take it out on Protag. Heck, if the player gives him the battery, he's even willing to give him a chance at friendship, saying that maybe the new kids aren't all bad and asking if Kid wants to play with him.
So why do people not like Ozzy, but find favourites in other characters? Take Felix, for example (on whom this fandom is typically divided into 2 extremes: loving and despising). He kills his brother remorselessly, is willing to further disable a paralysed child, cares only for himself and constantly belittles everyone around him.
But Felix is also a really fun character. His motives are great to explore, his relationship with Ted equally so, his manner of speaking is wonderful and he has some really good lines (e.g. "the real treasure is the friends we buried alive along the way"). He's so pompous that it's funny, he's always a blast to watch, and there's a lot of potential for angst for him.
Ozzy only murders one person, but that's the player. He's an obstacle, not meant to be liked. Felix murders his twin, but there's a whole lot to read into with that. He's a likeable character with an enjoyable story, and he typically comes with ball-of-sunshine Ted.
Ted is easy to like. People are sympathetic towards him because of Cain's Not Able and his seemingly horrible father. He's nice to Felix and feels had about killing Ozzy. His only motives are pleasing his brother, showing his loyalty and desperation to prove himself and be loved.
But he does kill Ozzy, or at least get Protag to do so for him, and plans the whole thing out independantly despite Felix saying that he would take care of it. He's not as dumb as Felix makes him out to be, can be cold-blooded and strategic when necessary, sticks to his plan no matter who it hurts (e.g. Carla with the gum, Ozzy himself) all in the name of showing he's capable. Ted isn't as innocent as people like to pretend, but he is more considerate than plenty the other characters.
Characters like Cindy and Buggs make Penny & Ted look like angels, and the big personalities everyone else possesses make Ozzy seem pretty boring. He's not particularly compelling, we're not supposed to like him, his only major plot point is that Ted wants the player to kill him, and he only ever shows concern for himself and characters whose only personalities are being experiments.
Even then, he refuses to hug Madison after she comes out of the lab, telling her to take a bath and calling her gross. We know what Madison has been through as the Protag so we feel bad for her, but looking at the situation through Ozzy's eyes is entirely different.
She's covered in something that looks disgusting and he's trying to get on him, and Ozzy hates getting dirty. All he's been told is that it's from the principal's secret lab, which only makes it seem more unhygienic. He's fully aware of the rules in science and labs at school, reminding Danner multiple times, and his mom has clearly enforced these before.
Again, he's five, so his lack of a filter isn't entirely his fault. He doesn't possess the emotional maturity to see that might upset her, he's just glad that she's back and scared of her touching him with her goo. He doesn't know she was kidnapped, he doesn't know what the goo is, he doesn't know why she didn't reach out if she was at school the whole time. He suggests something he sees as perfectly reasonable, and moves on with his life.
One of Ozzy's main characteristics is that he's a germophobe. Getting mad at him for that would be like getting mad at Ted for his arachnaphobia–even if Ozzy's ruder and more blunt about his fear.
Overall, people don't like Ozzy mostly because they don't find him interesting. He's not endearing or sweet, isn't shown as a nice character, and doesn't really have any spotlight moments like Felix or Penny. Nugget, too, is liked because of how new and unpredictable he is as a character, as well as some of his more emotional moments– all of which Ozzy lacks.
This has been on my mind for a little while, and it's been fun to put it into words! Thanks for getting this far into my little ramble, and I'd love it if you shared your thoughts!! Discussing things like this with people is always nice :D
“please, may i order a cherry scented letter to lord kamisato ayato with the gift being a wedding ring? alongside the decoration of arbutus to match his taste. you have my gratitude!”
notes: ayato is the yandere! tysm again <3
♡♡♡
thank you for ordering! one cherry scented letter with the arbutus flower as decoration and a wedding ring as a gift for the esteemed head of the kamisato clan.
letter from roue: UWAA! my first genshin related ask! i hope i got the kamisato head as in character as possible for the yandere au, but first and foremost, i hope you enjoy your order!
kamisato ayato, the first child and only son of the kamisato clan, the head of one of the most influential inazuman noble clans, and the yashiro commisioner.
he was never one to blindly fall in love, or hold such.. strong feelings for someone in his entire life.
of course, that's where you came in, his childhood friend and lover.
you and your family were immigrants from shneznaya, searching for a better life, and became the kamisato clan's servants.
you were around ayato's age, a fellow peer, so you became his assistant and later in life, his right hand person whenever he needed someone to take over some affairs while he was out.
of course, ayato paid no attention or mind to you, as you were a simple servant assigned to him in his eyes at the time. oh how ayato wished for the younger him to wake up and realise you were much more than that.
he only started to acknowledge you was when you taste tested the food for poison and ended up being on the brink of death for almost the entire week.
from then on, the two of you became close, and later in life, thoma joining in.
ayato's crush was small when he started to notice the little things about you, such as the way you'd complete your tasks or the little habits you had.
his seemingly small crush turned into somewhat of an... obsession, if you will, when he lost both of his parents.
both he and ayaka were at the darkest parts of their life, their mother kayo passed away from an illness and their father passed away from his declining health because of the pressure from the court.
and when ayato thought he should take care of everything, you took the lead. you were probably one of the fastest people to get over the loss of the now-deceased clan head and matriarch.
you were the one that put in a new order as the closest person to the new head of the kamisato clan. you were the one that helped the kamisato children to finish grieving and gave them a new purpose.
ayato realised that, without you, he would have had an extremely hard time. and he's thankful for your help. he really is!
it's just that these pesky feelings might hurt you now that he's clan head. if he made you his fiancee, there would be people bound to try and harm you,
KAMISATO AYATO'S REACTION.+
when ayato had learned that you had sent him a letter today, it was extremely hard to conceal his smile from showing.
he missed you, he misses your voice and body, the way your smile made you look simply ethereal by just looking at your lover, him.
oh how he wishes to just snatch you away back to the kamisato household! but then again, you had business in sumeru to finish, "i have to retrieve something i had ordered from someone there.", those were the words he vividly remembered before you left for the wretched nation.
carefully taking the closed letter as if it was a fragile antique, he decided smell the letter first.
cherry scented as always, it was always your favorite smell to scent before sending it to him. oh how he wishes to have you with him right now!
after taking the letter out of the envelope and reading it, he finally decided to see what was in the small box, the gift that you ordered, just for him! 💕
inside the small box was a beautiful golden ring with a oval-shaped sapphire completing the look.
you sent him a wedding ring.
ayato's face started to quickly heat up, his heart beating erratically. you want to marry him? oh, he's so excited!
his excitement couldn't be contained anymore, not after what you gave him! he just HAS to send you a letter back as fast as possible, telling you to come back to inazuma, to him, as quickly as you could.
since you're going to stay with him for the rest of your life, you wouldn't mind being cooped up in the household for the rest of your life, no?
ah, how he loves you so much, since you decided to claim him first, he'll make the world see that the two of you belong to each other. 'til death does the two of you part
but this time, not even death could seperate you from him.

It had been over a year.
It was never meant to go this far. Ronin hadn’t meant for it to, he’d been so sure it wouldn’t, he’d always been so sure that the ninja would find the kid. He’d been so sure that it would be over in a matter of days.
The guilt had been eating him alive for a long time. He could admit that.
He’d just never thought...
Ugh. It had been so long, the ninja would be so angry… but he couldn’t let it continue. He needed to take responsibility for once in his life; he needed to help them.
He needed to track his client.
The very idea of the man left a foul taste in Ronin’s mouth (which said a lot when he was… him), but he wasn’t about to let that deter him.
This had gone on for long enough, it was time it came to an end.
———
When someone came knocking on their front door, Kai was the only one unoccupied enough to answer it. The others were still rushing around, trying to prepare for a big mission the police had called them in for. Even Lloyd had gotten up, and Kai was… proud of him.
He really was. He was so happy that Lloyd was finally trying to participate in missions again, but it also felt like a sort of finality. Like the universe was telling them that it was over.
The idea that Cole was lost to them forever made Kai somewhat ill.
Still, he swung the door open, surprised to find Ronin on the other side. Even more surprising, he looked… off. Not like his usual, shady self. Something was wrong.
But Kai didn’t have time for that right now. This mission was important, and Ronin could wait.
“Can I come in?” he asked before Kai could tell him to go away.
“No,” Kai said, beginning to shut the door in his face. Instead, the older man just pushed past him, entering their home with no regard for what Kai had just said. What the hell?
“Sorry,” Ronin said, almost legitimately sounding apologetic. “But it’s urgent. And trust me: you’re gonna want to hear this.”
“We don’t have time,” Kai insisted, “you need to come back later.”
Ronin only made his way further inside, and begrudgingly, Kai followed.
Before long, they’d gathered all of his siblings (no, not all of them. It hadn’t been all of them for a long time) together.
“You’re going to have to be quick,” Zane said, glancing at the clock.
“Okay,” Ronin said, beginning to pace. “Before you react, you’ve got to just… hear me out, okay? You’re going to be mad.”
“Are you in legal trouble again?” Jay groaned. “We can’t help you out with that right now.”
“No. Well… sort of. In a way.” Ronin sighed, clearing his throat uncomfortably. “The thing is… for what might be the first time in my life, I can say with full sincerity that I’ve done something bad and actually feel bad about doing it.”
Nya narrowed her eyes. “Which would be…?”
“I know where Cole is.”
In the ensuing silence, you could have easily heard a pin drop. Everyone absolutely froze as they processed what he’d just said. He knew where Cole was. He’d found him!
“And… how is this a bad thing?” Zane asked, suspicious.
“I sort of… gave him up…” Ronin explained weakly.
And Kai? Well, Kai didn’t know if Ronin kept talking after that. All he knew was that his vision instantly went absolutely red. All he knew was that he was suddenly gripping his sword, that he was advancing on the thief with the sharp end first.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Kai yelled, thrusting the blade in his direction threateningly.
“Now, hold on, I’ll even tell you where he is for free!” Ronin cried, backing away nervously.
Ronin was responsible for all of it. He’d watched as they’d fallen apart, for a year, for what, a quick buck? Kai was going to kill that man! He was going to make him regret the very day he’d been fucking born!
“You say that as if we would have given you a choice,” Nya said.
“I’m sorry!” he shouted. “I thought—”
“Shut up.”
Somehow, Lloyd’s deathly quiet order worked, and the room went still.
“Shut the hell up, Ronin. We don’t want your empty apologies. You’re going to tell us where our missing brother is,” he said, eyes flashing red, “and then get out.”
Ronin nodded, hands shaking slightly as he pulled a slip of paper with an address on it out of his pocket and handed it silently to Zane.
Nya grabbed the man roughly by the arm, forcibly leading him out of the room and to the front door.
“We’re letting you off easy,” she growled, “but I swear, if I ever see your lousy face again, I will kill you. And you can bet that goes for the rest of my family too.”
“Nya…” Ronin attempted, “I’m sorry—”
“Save it. Now get. Out.”
And whether it was the guilt or the fear for his own life, Nya didn’t know, but he left. For good.
When she came back to her family, they were all crowded around Zane, who was studying the paper Ronin had given him. If Nya had to guess, she’d assume he was using his GPS system.
“It’s far away,” he finally said, breaking the silence. “And, someone needs to help the police. Their current situation is dire.”
“We can’t just leave Cole!” Jay shouted immediately.
“I didn’t say that. I think the best solution is to split into two groups. One to retrieve Cole, and one to fulfill our duty to the city.”
They looked between each other, silently trying to decide who was best fit for what. Of course, they all wanted to be the first to see their missing brother, but it just wasn’t possible.
“I’m saving Cole,” Jay finally said, his voice firm. “I’m his best friend. I’m not letting him go another second without us.”
“I’m going too,” Lloyd said. His siblings looked at him in surprise, and he sighed. “I’ve spent so long being useless,” he explained, glaring at the floor. “I need to do something. I need to help him.”
Nya nodded in understanding. “We’ll help the police, then,” she said softly. “Hug Cole extra tight for me, will you?”
Lloyd smiled sadly. “I will.”
“We’ve got to go,” Zane said, heading for the door. “Lloyd, Jay… good luck.”
“Thanks,” Jay replied, his entire body shaking with adrenaline. As the rest of his family hurried out, he locked eyes with his youngest brother.
Hey, yeah, so I’ve missed a whole bunch of post a wip saturdays and as compensation, I present, along with today’s qeued post, my wip fort knox. Enjoy and please don’t hurt me.

"You confess to the murders?"
"Oh, I'd hardly call it murder. Murder implies a fight in my opinion. They went easily."

Peter was a defiant little one, that was for certain. He was like a chihuahua. Annoying little shit who would nip at your ankles and demand a hug later and it was getting old. Erik lived with him in an apartment in Harlem, but it was more along the lines of him living alone. Peter was never there and when he was he was always busy.
*“Not right now, Erik, I have homework” or “I have to work on my suit” “I have lunch with Brad and Eugene.”* Brad and Eugene went to Peter’s college, NYU, he’d only actually met them once or twice. He new nothing about them. All he knew was that Peter spent too much time with them.

Alr, uh, since as of right now, slugterra is winning the poll, and Shadowslugger is the au you guys want information on. Here are some of the tidbits I wrote down.
A slug-slinging competition is help every year, I think that's Canon but whatever.
Kord, Trixie, and Pronto meet at the competition (this completion takes place when Eli is fifteen). None of them made it to the final round, but they made friends.
Kord, Trixie, and Pronto become a little adventuring group, and about 9 months later, they stumble into the place where Will is (I think it was called corrupted caverns idk) they bring him with and he kinda joins their group making the Shane gang once Will has recovered Energy from being in the corrupted caverns. Eventually, three months later, Will Shane is ready to return to protecting the caverns, and he enters the competition to get his name out there to inspire hope. No one really believes that he is who he is until halfway through the competition. Burpy is also with Will. He kind of starts off like Eli did in the series, with only Burpy at his side.
And now to Eli's party of the story.
When Will was sent to the corrupted caverns, Eli was two. Eli's guardian, at this time, I might just say the guardian is Eli's cousin, brings Eli to slugterra to search for Will after he misses the time to visit. A resulting confrontation with Dr Blakk's men results in at least one more missing member of the family. The cousin isn't important, so they might just not re surface, but the important thing is that Eli is captured by Dr Blakk's men.
Eli escapes his capture with a member of the Shadow clan, who had been there longer than Eli. When this happens, Eli is about five.
He is raised by the Shadow clan, but he knows some Human-like slugterrans. He does have a rather close friendship with a human named Anthony

Koshiro’s father had once told him that when you first saw someone meant to be a pet, your pet, you would know. Koshiro hadn’t quite known what to think about it at the time, but had stored it away in his mind for years.
Until now.
As he was looking at the earth ninja, he just knew. Looking into those eyes, those beautiful, perfect eyes, he could practically see it now. He was meant to be Koshiro’s pet.
If only he wasn’t surrounded by people who had such power. It wouldn’t stop him, of course, but it would make it all so much more difficult. But he would have him. Oh, he would have him.
The soon-to-be former earth ninja was close to perfect already. Koshiro could hardly wait to see what he would be like once he truly and completely belonged to him. Oh, how gorgeous he would look with a pretty little collar around his neck…
Koshiro couldn’t keep the grin off his face as he thought of it. He’d always imagined what it would be like to have a pet, but it had always been more of an abstract idea. But now, knowing who his pet would be? He was practically shaking with excitement.
He could see it so clearly in his mind: his pet, fully trained, curled up in Koshiro’s lap by the fire while Koshiro pet him. He would make a small, happy noise, knowing he wouldn’t be allowed to talk by then, but wanting to express his joy nonetheless.
Yes, his future pet would be so much happier in Koshiro’s loving care.
Sure, at first he would no doubt fight and refuse and be very, very bad, but he wasn’t logical enough to see what his life was supposed to be. He would think, at the beginning, that the abuse he suffered every day at the hands of the world was good for him, desirable, even.
He was thrown into life-endangering battles more often than not, every day getting beaten and bruised. It was a noble thing to do, Koshiro supposed, but children shouldn’t have been sticking their noses into such business, and a pet certainly shouldn’t have been. And yet he was, and his acquaintances had the audacity to treat him like they treated the rest of them.
Someone as beautiful, as perfect, as that deserved to be all but worshipped if he couldn’t be the one doing the worshipping. Yes, he would be much happier with Koshiro.
Koshiro would happily spend a thousand years in hell if it meant just one day with his future pet.
He would do whatever it took to tame him, to claim him, to make him his.
“Mine,” Koshiro whispered, loving the way the word felt on his tongue. “He’ll be mine.”

Cole wasn’t one to be paranoid. He was observant, he liked to think, but not to the point of giving himself ridiculous anxiety over nothing. Until recently.
It was just… a feeling. He couldn’t quite pinpoint it, but something was making him uneasy. He had no idea what it was, and that almost made it worse.
Everything was… normal, currently. They had no big villains to face, no horrible apocalypses to stop, and no people to save (unless the few side jobs they took up counted as saving people, but it wasn’t much, just helping out with minor emergencies, really). Still, Cole couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
In public, he felt like he was being… watched. It shouldn’t have been concerning, because, being a bit of a celebrity, he was always being watched. There were fans everywhere, no matter where he went, and he and the others were used to it by now.
So why was he so bothered?
There was no reason to be. He was definitely being watched, and sure, if he were a normal civilian, that would have been creepy. But he wasn’t! So why was he so unsettled?
It was probably just his social anxiety seeping through. He’d managed to get a hold on it, but stuff like that never fully went away. That’s all it was, right?
Yeah, definitely. There was no reason to be worried. No reason at all.

Koshiro wasn’t particularly thrilled to be in the city this weekend. Day of the Departed meant everyone was out and about, and he hated large crowds. The sidewalks were flooded and the traffic was awful, and he wanted to crawl out of his skin.
He’d always seen the holiday as way over-commercialized, anyway. There was no need for all the pointless things stores tried to sell. Day of the Departed was supposed to be about honoring your ancestors, not about whatever stores were saying to sell things these days. Sure, there was nothing wrong with a little candy, but everything else? Stores may have just been screaming that they didn’t really care. And somehow, people just ate it right up.
This was why life was so much better in more rural areas, and he was very much looking forward to getting home.
From somewhere up ahead, a commotion stirred up. People were gasping, and a gap was being made; was someone seriously trying to go against the flow of people-traffic right now? Could they not at least get on the outer edges of the sidewalk, rather than cut through the very middle?
Something WHAMMED into him and he fell, quite painfully, to the ground. For the First Master’s sake, did people even try to watch where they were going anymore?
“I am so sorry!”
Wait.
“Are you okay?”
That voice.
He knew that voice.
He’d know that voice anywhere.
“Great going, you killed him!”
Ugh, he’d know that voice anywhere, too.
He opened his eyes, squinting against the harshness of the sun and ignoring whatever was being said about “knocking someone over won’t kill them, Jay.”
And there, above him, the sun shining over him and presenting him like the angel he was, was Cole. His Cole.
And, unfortunately, the other brats.
“Oh, good, you’re okay.” Cole extended his hand, and Koshiro took it. His smile was soft, his eyes were as radiant as the glow the sun was giving him, and Koshiro could have melted on the spot. Because finally, finally, he got to see him, to really see him, face to face. And this might have been the closest he’d ever been to speechless.
“I’m alright,” he said, dusting himself off and forcing those thoughts back. He wanted so badly to do anything more, but if he didn’t present himself as perfectly generic, it could throw a huge wrench in his plans. “I really have to get going.”
“Yeah, us too,” Kai said, followed by Cole’s polite call of,
“Stay safe!”
Fuck. That beautiful voice.
He stared after him long after he’d gone. His mind was running wild with ideas and images. That boy was going to be his, no matter how long it took. The process of getting him would be hard, and without a doubt, training him would be even harder. But he would learn to love him.
