people are dogging on minor yumeshippers for shiping themselves with adult characters, and somehow thats the minors fault because "this character would NEVER date a minor" (i saw this statement with a leon kennedy yumeshipper so idk)

I get the feeling some people don't know what anti-contact means. Literally saw someone yesterday say "ALL paraphiles deserve to die, pro-contact or anti-contact I don't care" and I just. Do you understand that you're advocating for the death of people over thoughts and feelings? You are advocating for KILLING people. Over "THOUGHT CRIMES." That's so crazy to me.

I'll never forget an anti-contact paraphile on Reddit who made a post about how they were trying to get help from a therapist and guess what the therapist did? They reported them to the police despite the fact that the person suffering from a paraphile didn't hurt anyone and the therapist didn't believe them and the investigators found no evidence of a crime, but the investigators refused to close the case. Which caused him to be evicted from his apartment and ostracized by his job and family.

And he eventually ended his life over it.

This is why stigmatizing paraphiles is harmful. We should get paraphiles help, coping mechanisms, and healthy outlets.

why have pride in something that would be rape if acted on in real life no matter what? like, gay adults can very much sexually consent. children and animals do not have the understanding to. I understand neutrality, but saying you're proud for fantasizing about rape sure is a choice

Well, I'm proud of surviving. I'm proud of my self control. I'm proud I don't hurt people or animals. I'm proud I understand consent better than some non-paraphiles who treat children and animals like property. I'm proud of the art I make. I'm proud of the ways I've found to express myself that are healthy and don't harm other people. I'm proud of my compassion for other paraphiles. I'm proud of weathering the immense shame, disgust, stigma, and guilt that comes with being a paraphile. I'm proud to be me. In the same way I am proud to have personality disorders, I am proud to be a paraphile. In the same way I love psychotic pride flags, I love anti-contact paraphile pride/awareness flags. In the same way I mourn my queer siblings lost to suicide and violence, I mourn my paraphile siblings. I'm proud to be an anti-contact, non-offending paraphile. I will not perform shame or self-hatred for you. I deserve better. We all do. I am proud of surviving. I am proud of who I am. You cannot and will not take that away from me. Maybe in a perfect universe, paramisia is taken as serious as other forms of discrimination are and paraphiles don’t have to deal with the constant backlash and predator allegations

The fact that paraphiles have to hide their attractions from those they love because they know their loved ones will abandon and shame them is disappointing, and we need to stop normalizing that shit. I’m tired of people claiming to be woke and progressive while not taking any chances to listen to the para community just because we happen to have paraphilias the public finds “icky.” Perhaps they would stop acting like this the day they learn that not everyone acts on their attraction (in the case of “harmful” ones) and that we should still be treated as equal despite what we’re into, but until then we’ll have to deal with the constant demonization of paraphilias

Also want to add, can people PLEASE stop assuming that all paraphiles have a paraphiliac disorder. A paraphilia can only be classified as a disorder if the paraphilia causes distress in the paraphile (or if the paraphile has actually acted on it in the case of some paraphilias) but many paraphiles do not feel distress due to their paraphilias. I’ve found that my distress often comes from paramisia instead of my paraphilias!
