Jessica having jealous thoughts perfectly aligns with Edward regarding high school years as “insecure adolescent years,” and instead of saying she feigns friendship or acting like Jessica is fake or shallow, the scenes where she thinks one thing and says something kinder should be regarded as Jessica not letting her insecurities or jealousy get in the way of being kind.

Being kind is hard sometimes. Kind people can have mean, jealous, or insecure thoughts. You are not somehow less kind. If anything, Jessica should have moments where she thinks after those initial thoughts, “No, that’s mean. Give Bella a chance.”

By doing so, it shows Jessica is mature and trying to be kind to Bella, but instead, such scenes are written in a way that comes across as SMeyer wanting us to think Jessica is fake when talking to Bella, when really she’s probably just trying to be nice to the new girl regardless of her own thoughts.

just putting it out there

i 100% understand why some people don’t like alice as a character BUT i actually really do and always have. she meant a lot to me when i was in the first round of my twilight phase and has always been a big comfort to me. so please please please don’t add anti-alice comments to my work/writing that features her. everyone is entitled to their opinion but i’m respectfully asking that you post those opinions in spaces that are not attached to the things that i create and share with you all !!
