Last official work from home day today! Although, with the state of the world perhaps I'll be able to get a few more remote work days than originally negotiated!
It's fascinating to me how much has changed in the last three days. When I left work on Wednesday everything was normal with a bit of heightened awareness and precaution. By Thursday morning everything felt like it was different in my neck of the woods. UVA announced it was moving to online only which caused an avalanche effect of everyone following suit. Every email that came in was about an upcoming event being postponed, a notice from the governor declaring a state of emergency, or our state partner creating a mandatory work from home policy effective immediately and so on.
My work has grounded all travel and all planned events in the next two weeks have been cancelled. I keep waiting to get notified that we’re moving to working remotely but the way my boss is talking it doesn’t sound like that’s happening - but who knows! Things keep changing every hour.
For the time being, I’ve already had a luxurious start to the day. I’ve been up since 4:30 a.m. since I went to bed at 8:30 p.m., then got up at 12:30 a.m. to pump and feed erp, then up again at 4:30 a.m. to rinse and repeat and decided to just stay up since I’ve been having trouble getting back to sleep lately. I picked out an album, did my yoga (which I haven’t done in over a week), made myself french press coffee and breakfast and enjoying this rainy day at home.
And hooray it’s Friday! Looking forward to staying in this weekend spending time with Kevin and erp before the uncharted territory of next week begins.
Stay safe out there, friends.
