Cosmere Musical Chairs: Shards of Adonalsium Edition

As requested by anon :)

[THIS LIST CONTAINS WAT SPOILERS! AND JUST SPOILERS IN GENERAL]

It's Musical Chairs! Only instead of finding a seat, you're getting stuck with a Shard at random. I'm including all known Shards (including hybrid ones) as well as all known Vessels......plus Hoid. Which means we have 17 players but only 16 Shards. Because, well, we need to have 1 extra person to make it proper Musical Chairs, right? Let's see if Hoid lucks out again! And yes, this will be genuinely randomized!

1. Devotion: Edgli (previously Cultivation)

Edgli: Hell yeah. I'm going to do WAY better with this than Aona did. Edgli: First, I'm not going to break the pact by trying to go to the same planet as someone else (which literally never works out so I don't know why Vessels keep trying it). Edgli: Next, I'm going to shower everybody with presents and affection forever. Edgli: Yup. I got this.

2. Dominion: Sazed (previously Harmony)

Sazed: ... Sazed: Uh....huh. Sazed: M-Maybe I can turn the Intent to amass power and influence and control into something...positive? Like, I'm collecting everyone into my warm embrace! Sazed: So that I can control their every move forever. Sazed: ... Sazed: Uh oh.

3. Preservation: Koravellium Avast (previously Cultivation)

Koravellium: ... Koravellium: Are you fucking kidding me.

4. Ruin: Bavadin (previously Autonomy)

Bavadin: Oh ho. Bavadin: Yeah, the world is pretty doomed. Bavadin: I'm very good at destruction.

5. Harmony: Tanavast (previously Honor)

Tanavast: Y-Yeah! Maybe this is another chance for me! Tanavast: I-I'll do it right! I won't get so frozen by the conflict between my Shard's Intent and my own personality that I muck everything up! Tanavast: Now, as a being of both Ruin and Preservation I'll, uh... I'll... Tanavast: ... Tanavast: Nope. Frozen again. Tavanast: Well, fuck me, I guess.

6. Odium: Skai (previously Dominion)

Skai: Eh, I was Dominion before. Skai: This probably won't be too hard. Skai: ... Skai: Wait, why do I suddenly have so many feelings??

7. Cultivation: Leras (previously Preservation)

Leras: NOOOOOO Leras: NOT THE FUCKING SHARD OF CHAAAAANGE

8. Honor: Ati (previously Ruin)

Ati: ... Ati: Hey. Ati: Maybe this is finally my chance to be kind...?

9. Endowment: Chan Ko Sar (previously Invention)

Chan Ko Sar: Well...nobody said what kind of gifts I have to give people, right? Chan Ko Sar: I bet everybody would LOVE to get some complicated machines!

10. Autonomy: Taravangian (previously Odium/Retribution)

Taravangian: Oh yes, very good. Very good indeed. Taravangian: I'll have the Cosmere under my thumb in, like, six months. Tops.

11. Ambition: Euridius (previously Reason)

Euridius: Ugh, really? Euridius: Yes, I have recently come to realize that hiding forever so that I can survive might not be the...absolutely best strategy. Euridius: But Ambition? Being big and bold and full of myself? Euridius: What a freakin' headache.

12. Invention: Medelantorius (previously Valor)

Medelantorius: Well, I know one thing. I'm not going to be spending my time making a bunch of useless shit. Chan Ko Sar: Unnecessary??? Medelantorious: I'm going to making weapons.

13. Valor: Hoid

Hoid: ... Hoid: ... Hoid: Well, this is awkward for a lot of reasons.

14. Reason: Aona (previously: Devotion)

Aona: I am glad that, as a healer, I was not given one of the more...violent Intents. Aona: And I will not be hiding. Aona: When the Cosmere is in peril, to act with Reason is to help those who need it. Euridius: ...Ouch.

15. Retribution: Rayse (previously Odium)

Rayse: THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE

16. Left out--received no Shard: Ula Da (previously Ambition)

Ula Da: What?!? Ula Da: I don't GET one?! Ula Da: OH COME ON Edgli: ...Some people would view that as a mercy. Ula Da: Yeah, STUPID people. Edgli: ... Edgli: And people wondered why I was glad you were dead.

Does anyone else think that the reason Hoid chooses to be so directly involved with the whole Rosharan affair, is that he specifically refused to take up the Shard of Odium, and therefore leaving it to be taken by Rayse, a man he despised, ignorant or uncaring of the consequences? The letter from Endowment in the Oathbringer epigraphs seems to imply (well, directly state, but who's to say how trustworty a source she is) that he didn't just choose to sit out on deification, but instead actively refused it.

Our poor jester might act so directly against Odium out of guilt over what Rayse did to Aona, Skai, Uli Da and eventually, Tanavast, thinking he could have prevented it if he had only taken it up himself.

Shard Roller Disco: Threnody Ambition doing an ambitious pose. Uli Da hasn't been a character so far, thanks to Rayse. The hint on Coppermind that Brandon compared Ambition to Mono Black in Magic The Gathering turned out to be very helpful in to getting a better idea about this obscure character. She would have been an interesting force to encounter…

Brandon has stated before that one of the Shards we don't know yet has an intent similar to Wisdom or Prudence, and he said that before revealing Virtuosity. The one that's missing could also be the Survival Shard. Ref 1; Ref 2

Uli-da, the vessel of Shard Ambition, died, and this was the response from another Shard:

"As for Uli Da, it was obvious from the outset that she was going to be a problem. Good riddance." -from Oathbringer chapter 40, emphasis added.

Sadeas, the very power-hungry highprince, died, and this was the response from people around him:

Palona: "Well! I guess that's one problem solved!"

Navani: "Perhaps this is for the best."

Sebarial: "I agree with Palona. Good riddance."

The shards we know, and their names, statuses, etc.

Ambition - Uli Da, she was splintered by Odium. Her splinters haven't been specifically named, though it is likely they remain on Threnody and have something to do with Shades.

Autonomy - Bavadin, she is alive, and has many avatars. She resides in the Taldain system, if not on Taldain itself. Her power takes the form of Sandmastery.

Cultivation - We don’t know her name, though Hoid calls her Slammer. She is alive and resides on Roshar. Her power also takes the form of spren, and the Nightwatcher.

Devotion - Aona, she was splintered by Odium. Her splinters remain on Sel in the form of Seons. Het power also takes the form of the Dor.

Dominion - Skai, he was splintered by Odium. His splinters remain on Sel in the form of Skaze. His power also takes the form of the Dor.

Endowment - Edgli, she is alive, and resides on Nathalis. Her power takes the form of Biochromatic Breath, and Biochroma in general.

Harmony- Sazed, he is alive, and resides on Scadrial.  Sazed holds two shards, Ruin and Preservation.  Fun fact: Sazed is not the original holder of the powers of Harmony, and was not present during the shattering.

Honor - Tanavast, he was splintered by Odium. His splinters remain on Roshar in the form of spren, though not all spren hold his power. Fun facts: Tanavast and Slammer were lovers before the shattering. Tanavast also once bought Hoid a drink.

Odium - Rayse, he is alive, and resides on Braize, which is a planet in the Rosharan system. He has shattered at least four of the other 15, and is considered to be the most dangerous shard. His power also takes the form of voidspren, and the unmade.  Fun facts: Rayse was a bad man even before the shattering. He and Hoid were once friends.

Preservation - Leras, he is dead, though his power has not been splintered and resides on Scadrial.  His power takes the form of Allomancy and Feruchemy, and the metal Lerasium bears his name.

Ruin - Ati, he is dead, though his power has not been splintered and resides on Scadrial. His power takes the form of Hemalurgy, and the metal Atium bears his name. Fun fact: Ati was a kind and generous man before the shattering.

There are six other shards which we do not know of.
