Lot # 828 : THE DARK CRYSTAL (1982) - Mystics SFX Enchantment Bowl - Sold on Propstore.com

"A Mystic's SFX enchantment bowl from Jim Henson's fantasy film The Dark Crystal. On his deathbed, Mystic Master UrSu (Brian Muehl) used his enchantment bowl to reveal to the Gelfling Jen (performed by Jim Henson, Kathryn Mullen, Kiran Shah & voiced by Stephen Garlick) his destiny of "healing" the Dark Crystal by finding the lost shard. As UrSu reveals the prophecy, an illusion of the shard and the home of Ogra materialise out of the bowl. To create this illusion for the close up shots, the shard and Ogra's home were lowered into the liquid, which filled the bowl, and then played in reverse in post production.

The Mystic's enchantment bowl is made of fibreglass, painted brown with a textured grain to imitate wood. It features spiral carvings around the exterior, three curved handles, three holes, and a thin spout protruding from the base. There are some glue remnants and areas of scuffing on the paintwork from production use and age.

Do you think the main reason why SkekMal distanced himself from UrVa because via Skekgra-Urgoh asking for unity, he would be re-traumatised like what happened during the Great-Division?

Where are Aughra and Raunip in the human au? The skesis are in control so she's not in the castle, but is it like in canon that she projected her consciousness into space and Raunip is just out and about somewhere? Or are the circumstances different? Are they still avatars/nature spirits or just people? I love your art and au, and everytime I see your posts on my dash I smile. 🤘Rock on🤘

Augrah may appear like any old crude human... and she is. She is as old as earth herself. And it was not the skeksis that turn the humans agaisnt her. No, they did that on their own.

When the twice 9 crash landed on earth, she knew of their pressence and mean to investigate. It took decades of traveling around the world but she finds 2 groups of strange humans. Urrus and skeksis.

As of right now, she's up in her obseratory, her eyes to the stars since the 1600s century. We'll see her again in the 80s.

Raunip is much the same as in the comics. Half human and half...Alien? God?. He’s that one guy yelling about aliens and lizard people... No one believes him. Watch him pop out of nowhere and starts hitting Skeksil with broom screaming “BE GONE LIZARD!”. 

It only made him look bad among the humans.

My part of an Art Trade with my Discord pal @mystics-and-chill ! This is UrFon her UrRu OC! I love his design so much, mainly his floppy ears (yes! UrRus have them!) and shy behaviour so it was a pleasure to draw him. I took some liberties with his clothes and the improvised prayer/walking stick. Also, when I started drawing him, it was raining a lot outside so the inspiration came fast!

Hello Thralings! 

As you can see, there’s no Thra-Athon this year (There’s plans for next year, celebrating the movie’s 40th anniversary!) 

But we made a partnership with an event celebrating the second anniversary of Age of Resistance! It will take place during all the anniversary’s week. So artists and writers, stay tuned, the announcement will be later in the day.
