The promo for the new season seems to have reawakened some truly unreasonable takes on Armand’s changed age and ethnicity and why it’s ”a problem”. This absolutely exists on tumblr, but I personally see it more frequently on other platforms.
I’m not even going to go into how fucked up I think it is, because I hope the people following me know my stance on that, but I am going to comment on the fact that recently, I seem to stumble upon more of this regarding Armand than regarding Louis (or Claudia for that matter, though the latter might be because she has been less visible in promo for this season, so people have less posts about her to comment on).
Please note that I’m NOT minimising the racism against Jacob Anderson — that is also a despicable thing. I’m not in the business of comparing or ranking racist or ageist oppression. I’m just making the observation that social media have given me personally the impression that the crap seems to be more particularly aimed towards the changing of Armand than ever right now. Is this just algorithms messing with me or have you noticed this, too?
Sad Fledgling With Train and Grandvamp
New style again, but I had to, because doodles in the cute-little-guys style is canon to the fic that inspired it— @ariaste ’s The Palimpsest of Daniel Molloy which everyone should start reading immediately. (Okay, maybe first drink up Daniel Molloy’s Incredible Showstopping World-Famous Model Train Extravaganza for Children and Easily-Awed Vampires (Please Knock). I cannot stress enough how necessary it is that you do this).
(Are they chibis? I know nothing about that style and the qualifying characteristics.)
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT "The floor slants slightly to the North" FROM EPISODE 5 MEANS
NEARLY ONE-AND-A-HALF YEARS LATER
IT'S BEEN ON MY MIND NEARLY EVERY DAY
AND FINALLY CAME TO ME REWATCHING IT TODAY
Armand is commenting on the disturbed foundation of the room, exposed by the trail of Daniel's blood
In Gothic Horror, the setting is ALWAYS a reflection of the character's interior lives.
So Armand commenting on the slanted foundation is actually just hyperfocising on the fact that HIS AND LOUIS' RELATIONSHIP'S STABILITY IS UNEVEN AND UNBALANCED. So Armand repeating it, and that they must fix it before they sell it, is him saying that THEY HAVE TO REVIEW THEIR FOUNDATION before they can "sell" it to someone else.
And the disturbance reappears when Daniel enters one of Armand’s and Louis’ homes for the second time, in Dubai.
”The building sways a bit, but that is according to its design.”
And there Daniel is, making his hosts aware of the groan they’ve become deaf to.
This is one of the things I think this show does so well — it keeps the gothic horror very present even at times when the visuals are far from what one would associate with the genre.
One of my sixteen WIPs of this man.
I think this one will be a watercolour/pastel style, but getting a hang of all the different brushes and how different saturations, blends, and flows work with each one is hell. And yeah, it’s new (to me) software, regrettably.
Wow! I love drawing! Drawing is so much fun! I- hey wait. Wait thats Armand. I drew Armand again.
I have…*counting*… eight WIPs of him — eight digital ones. I also have eight plus on paper/canvas.
That is sixteen WIPs for the same character. At least.
Send help. This is not normal.
I personally think that Lestat should focus on being very grateful to Armand for not presenting him to the world as Pantalone. He could have, but he didn’t.
(There is a lot to say about Lestat being written as a fantastic clown character — with a lot of Lelio characteristics baked in — but I really think Armand’s kindness should be the key takeaway from this situation.)
”Beloved, I have acquired an island. Let us leave Lestat to his nonsense and drown some smugglers, Daniel — we will hunt them down by means of jetski. They probably have great cocaine, my love.”

Guys, I’m so proud of this — my first digital drawing! It took so long to finish— probably 35 hours or so — because I had to learn every feature of the software as I went. I fucked up many, many times, but here it is, finally!
It feels weird to ask, but I would be so happy if you would reblog this if you like it, because I really want people to see it!
(There’s a short description of my first experience with digital below the cut if anyone is interested.)
Even happier with this one now after the trailer release. He’s watching over his fledgling.
After that drop, I am so excited to hear more of Sam Reid’s singing! His voice shifts so smoothly between those wide open sounds far back and the more forward placed rock/pop style.
And A+ for the choice of song for the trailer! I had never thought about how much of a Lestat song it is.
People have been talking about Armand’s post partum depression. I, personally, have been waiting for his post partum psychosis. Apparently, it’s here.

Wip of baby vamp minion. First drawing I’ve ever made entirely digitally, so I decided to do it with liner brush, eyedropper, and bucket because that felt simple. It is, in fact, not simple. Everything is difficult with this digital thing.
Traced the eye and nose placements + the approximate hairline around the forehead, but now I regret not just tracing everything because the shape and size of those stupid shadows and highlights are a bitch to get right. Also— the bucket accidentally changing the colour of the outlines because of a microscopic gap somewhere will be the death of me.

Hello beautiful people!
You can now do something nice by getting yourselves some neat, very affordable Assad/Armand prints and stickers by a bunch of tumblr artists (including some by your’s truly).

Borrowed some stuff and started playing around with digital drawing yesterday.
😃 Software has improved so much since that time I tried digital ten years ago
😖 It’s been ten years
😃 All the options…
😖 …are driving me nuts
😃 Pen which doesn’t get used up all the time and can adjust for slight shakiness
😖 Pen which I can not choose the shape or length of, nor can I hold it anyway I like
😃 Drawing in layers
😖 Trying to remember to name said layers properly
😃 I find new, useful functions all the time…
😖 …but after 45 minutes of trying one out, I find another tool that does the same thing but better and quicker
😃 I love learning new things
😖 I hate learning the basics
Excuse me, but those neon orange eyes and the bloody, jagged edge of the throat… Is that supposed to be Armand’s head that Daniel severs again and again by throwing bowling balls down the lane?
