When I’m leaving town for a few days the prep checklist goes something like this: -finish work -use up stuff in the fridge -do laundry -pack And right now I’ve pretty much completed step two thanks to passing stuff off to friends, and making this “Everything But the Kitchen Sink”-style soup! In my IG stories (and now the “IP Soup!” Highlight), I show you how easy it is to whip up a tasty soup to freeze for later. Though you can definitely enjoy it right away, too!😉 Plus, another #lowwaste tip of mine. Turkish Kuru Fasülye with pilau rice . White beans in a tomato based sauce .We enjoyed this last night! I love this dish because the whole family devours it in minutes 😁 it’s super healthy and cheap too , it’s a winner all round .🤩 I’ve changed the pilau slightly this time and I’ve added some şehriye pasta too . Ingredients 250 gms of dried haricot or similar beans. 2 onions finely chopped . 1 tablespoon of tomato purée. 1 carrot – sliced. 20 mls olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. 1 teaspoon of paprika. Rice Turkish baldo rice is the best. 1 small handful of şehriye pasta 1 cup of rice soaked in hot water for two hours. 1 and a half cups of boiling salted water. 1 tablespoon of butter or vegan butter. Method Soak white haricot or similar beans overnight in salted water remember to change the water two or three times if possible . Simmer for 30 minutes then rinse . Fry the onion in the olive oil untill translucent and add the tomato purée and cook for a further minute or two. Add the carrot and then place all the ingredients together in a slow cooker , cover with hot water and cook for six hours . Or cook in a normal saucepan untill the beans are soft , 2 - 3hours approximately. Or in a pressure cooker as instructions recommend. Rice Melt butter in a wide pan , add the water when it bubbles add the pasta and sauté gently untill a deep golden brown , then add the rice turn down to medium cover and cook untill water is absorbed. Check to see if cooked if not add a small amount of boiling water and check again . Going Vegan (again). If you never tried it, I would suggest you do it for maybe a month or two. I lost 21 pounds in 2 months without exercising. I just simply changed what I ate.
