People comment on being able to know what T’Pol’s feeling even though she’s Vulcan. And it’s often complimentary, but often complainy. And I’m like, I could tell what Tuvok was feeling too, couldn’t you? You know when he’s annoyed or sentimental or holding back the desire to choke a bitch. That’s the entire challenge of playing a Vulcan, letting people know what’s going on inside without being too expressive.
Tuvok had already gone through his rebellious younger phases. His parents threw him out of the house and made him go to special vulcan monk school because he rejected the entire suppressing emotions thing. Later he quit Starfleet because he didn’t like humans. We meet him after all of this, after he was older and wiser and settled with a wife and kids. And Tuvok is the only full Vulcan main cast member of a series we’d seen up to that point. But go on about how overly emotional T’Pol is and how Vulcans don’t be like that.
