Wahhoo
Image accessed at Wookiepedia here
[The wahhoo is unusual for a newspaper hoax, in that the paper that performed it, the Reno Weekly Gazette, actually went to the well a couple of times. It also mentions that feature beloved in fearsome critters, that the legs on one side are longer than the legs on the other, because it always goes around hills in the same direction.]
Wahhoo CR 4 NE Magical Beast This vile creature looks something like a wolf and something like a boar, with a muscular snout over a fanged and tusked maw.
A wahhoo is a strange feral creature with a dim, malign intelligence. They are common near the sites of mass graves and other necromantic hot-spots, and frequently have glowing red eyes, rotting wounds that never heal and other signs of supernatural evil afflicting their bodies. Wahhoos are predators that feed eagerly on the living, carrion or undead creatures, and they can devour undead creatures without negative consequences.
Wahhoos are much despised by the living and the dead alike, and ghouls will go out of their way to exterminate wahhoos whenever possible. Most wahhoos live in rugged terrain such as cliffs, caves or errant boulders and range to lower ground at night in search of prey. They are just as capable of living alone as in groups, and packs of wahhoos typically form whenever resources are especially common. These packs function on a dominance hierarchy enforced by violence. Fatal confrontations are not unheard of, and the loser is promptly devoured by the winner.
Wahhoos range in size as wolves do, but tend towards lean and compact builds. Their fur is typically dark gray to black with white flecks.
