Tulsa *is trending on the news*
Me: Oh yeah someone probably got shot that’s not new.
*It was the police*
Me: I....dammit. I’m not a fan of TPD so I don’t doubt foul play.
and then I call my mum to ask her about groceries. and then she talks to me about how her day is going. and then she lets slip that she’s been mourning with his siblings because apparently we’re related by marriage and I’ve actually met them all before but my horrid memory won’t let me remember any of that so this just got more personal than it was before.
It’s already enough of a problem that I’ve had enough bad run ins with TPD. Generally speaking when stuff like this crops up I give the cops a break because they’re just trying to do their jobs. But I have first hand knowledge that TPD is corrupt. Like, as much as I tried to hold out judgement until I watched the video, I simply do not trust TPD. And after watching the video, and having family that works in emergency services to also give me what else was jacked up about the protocol that wasn’t followed...
There’s no way this wasn’t malicious. Terence was a scary looking man, no doubt, he had an eye that didn’t work. And he was big and black and a guy. We get warned about looking scary as kids (which is gross, but yknow whatever).. Problem is, being scary isn’t a good reason to shoot somebody.
Not tot mention he was tased before being shot. He was already incapacitated, unarmed, and the video shows he was following procedure.
I’m not gonna pretend like I have a personal connection to Terence, because I already admitted that if I ever did I don’t remember it at all. But I will say given the evidence, this shooting wasn’t justified. I will say the fact that I know TPD is overly aggressive in their tactics first hand is factoring into this.
Oh, and even if they didn’t plant the PCP, which to be honest they probably did, they didn’t know he had it until after shooting him. It’s irrelevant to the case, for anyone who’s going to say “well he was a criminal! He deserved it!” He was unarmed He was following protocol. They let him bleed out despite that not being protocol. So yknow.
whatever.
Sometimes I think about stuff I wished I would have talked about more back when the Frozen fandom was still kicking. Like how I personally consider Kristoff emotionally constipated, as in he feels things and he feels them really strongly and truthfully but when it comes to showing them to people he gets visibly uncomfortable. I consider him someone who can very easily identify a feeling in somebody else, even if they're trying to hide it, and he has this natural nack for it, but when it comes to himself feelings are scary. He's afraid to feel em on the outside. He DEFINITELY feels them kn the inside. Instead of making him cold, though, it just makes him awkward. Generally speaking he is very logical, but who is to say logic and feelings don't mingle? He also has this level of playfulness to him, like he's the most practical person in the movie but his sense of humour is also very deliberate and apparent. It's a piece of charm he has, to never say a joke directly but always be hinting at one, always dangling something in front of you and loving watching you mull over exactly what he means. I guess I'm saying I wish I could have found a way to talk about Kristoff more. He's great.
So I Google “short commercial monologue”
And Google always sends me
“COMMERCIALS FOR WOMEN” “COMMERCIALS FOR MEN”
and I’m always like… “Listen, I understand gendered marketing exists and is affective. I understand certain voices are more suited for selling certain products, because that is your target audience. However…. most of these are actually pretty damn neutral and a neutral section for auditions should exist. I would appreciate not being bombarded with "this is for men, that’s for women" when that’s not what I searched for. My first Google result should be just a list of commercials, categorized maybe in subfolders of male and female, but why is that the main search?
IT’S JACKED UP HOW MANY PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY SEARCH FOR "FOR MALE” AND “FOR FEMALE” IN THESE SITUATIONS"
