This week I will not give up. Food for thought: (reply below if you’re inclined!) what is the worst that could happen if i take action on my goals? what tasks do i need to do this week to move towards my goals?
This week's intention is: I will work hard while knowing that I am valuable regardless of the outcome. How hard do you think this is going to be for you? What is the first thing you thought when you read this weeks intention? What do you think of this weeks intention AFTER reading my 2 cents below? Around the holidays there is always so much work to do. Wether it be physical, mental or emotional. We need to keep in mind the spirit of the season and that goes double when it comes to ourselves. Remember that the enemy of done is perfect and that regardless of the outcome it was the effort and thought that counts. Remember that giving when you're low on energy / spoons is even more valuable.
This week's intention is:This week I will accept life as it is in the moment. I'm reading the book "the Power of Now" (Link: https://amzn.to/3woCC4b) and in it the author talks about how the past and the future dont exist because we can only experience the now (the present moment) . He goes on to explain how we rarely stay in the NOW because so many are feeling and thinking about either the past or the future. And if we stop regretting or lamenting the past and stop being anxious over all the potential futures it leaves us more able to deal with the immediate things in front of us, the now. So this week try to make sure to see life for as it is in that specific moment and accept it.
This week's intention is: This week I will respond first and then react. " Responding, while technically a reaction, takes into consideration the desired outcome of the interaction. Reacting is emotional, responding is emotional intelligence. A reaction may result in a positive or negative outcome whereas a response is engineered to produce a positive or negative outcome. " ~ https://kgdiversity.com/ How often do you react vs respond? Does the paragraph above help you understand the difference between the two? Do you think responding first will help you? (and if you impliment this this week, remember we love stories! so share if you're comfortable!) Extra reading: https://melissaeisler.com/respond-vs-react-how-to-keep-your-cool-in-times-of-stress/
Weekly intention: Follow the bliss
10/10/21 This week I will… follow the bliss.
Joseph Campbell notably said that he always advises his students to follow their bliss. And what that meant was that you should go where you are driven to go where your body and soul is telling you to go.
Now, to me, that doesn’t necessarily mean that to only do exactly what you want ever because of course, we have responsibilities and people we want to take care of in our lives. And sometimes the things that we might do in order to get through our day today may not necessarily be the most fun thing we’ve ever done. But if we are doing them with our goals, the thing we aim for that makes us happy, if we keep those in mind the things that are our driving force then we can follow our bliss.
Maybe it’s going grocery shopping so that you can have the drink or snack that makes you happy at home. Going shopping isn’t always fun especially if it’s for necessities but if we include the thing that makes us happy, which for me at the moment is coconut milk, then when I get home from doing the grocery shopping I will get to have the thing that makes me happy; Coconut milk. Exercises for your mindset??? 😧I’m just trying to hit these squats Crys! Yes squats are great. I love them too. 😂 However, your health efforts for the week will always start and end with your mindset around it. ⬇️⬇️Here’s a great exercise to help you set intentions for the week that are in alignment with your goals: ⬇️⬇️ 1️⃣ This week I will... 🖌Finish the sentence by writing 1-3 actions you will take this week to get closer to your health and wellness goals. They could be as simple as: 📌”drink 8 bottled waters each day. One every two hours.” 📌Or, “do three YouTube workouts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7pm.” 📌 Or, “swap out my Pepsi for @Zevia.” 2️⃣ This week I won’t... 🖌 Finish this sentence by reflecting on what you need to do differently. What did you do last week that you don’t want to repeat? What’s a habit that’s counterproductive to your goals? Example of this could be: 📌 “I won’t stay up until 3am watching Netflix when I have to log in for work at 9am. I need 8-10hrs of sleep!” 📌 “Neglect myself by making everyone else’s priorities more valuable than my own. I will say NO!” Let me know in the comments if you give the exercise a try! ⬇️ Did it give you any clarity? There’s Power In Looking Silly And Not Caring That You Do.
by Kendra
This week’s intention: Act Silly.
Truer words have never been spoken. Acting silly, being silly – very hard things to do if you are shy, self conscious or a little nervous to put yourself out there – BUT – if you do, the rewards can be great.
I find being around babies and children really seems reduce people’s inhibitions and you find those you think are more conservative making funny noises, dressing up, making faces, dancing around, just being silly and having fun to make the child laugh. It’s a great moment to watch.
Its hard not to take ourselves seriously these days and to find a moment for smiles, laughter and play can increase your endorphins which in turn relieves stress and helps alleviate depression and anxiety. Laughing is a great way to keep the doctor away!
This week as you set your intention, let it be one of lightness. Let the moments of joy and happiness whisk you away into the land of silly. Play. Sing. Dance. Giggle. Find silliness in the day with those you love. I promise, you will be rewarded.
