Human thought transcribed (highly relatable)
It’s often said that one should title their work after they have completed it. There’s logic behind this suggestion; how can an author, filmmaker, painter settle on a fittingly representative label when the work has not yet transpired. Because art, being art, changes with its creator, it evolves as ideas blossom and ends up becoming something unexpected, however, consequently all the more revealing. Starting something with a title would be like naming a newborn without knowing who that person was. Oh wait, no, that’s common practice. I could go off on a half a dozen tangents from here. I could write a paragraph or so about this concept of art’s tendency to branch out and evolve as it’s created, or I could develop the thought relating to the error in premature title-ing. But either path would be an act of distraction, a diversion from the fact that I have no clue what I’m talking about. This collection of words that you’re reading has no encompassing theme or motivation (other than a variation of boredom). However, and to contradict what I’ve just admitted, I’m here to tell you this is of no significance, and should not cause grief to anybody in a similar position. I can assure you of this, and my confidence is vested in the supreme power of the Title itself. Have you ever created something so short-sighted, naive, petty or pretentious that you’ve decided not to show it off? Ever decided not to post that thought-provoking insight to Tumblr, or thought twice about sending that Facebook post, because your perspective might miss some... perspective? Well don’t flippin worry! Because it doesn’t matter two flying fucks what you post, however ridden or free of the aforementioned ailments it is. Nobody cares what you wrote, painted of filmed. Nobody cares about your demystifying and penetrating critique on whatever saturated topic captures your fleeting attention. I don’t think this is overly cynical either, it’s just a good bet, hedged on probabilities. Although there’s no need to explain myself as the Title will have already decided your reaction. It’s the only thing that matters, it tells the audience or the consumer, how to feel and how to make judgment. That is, assuming it’s used properly. You gotta cater to the audience ya see, pamper em up, give em what they expect/want. It’s a case of sacrifice for gain, or compromise as the relationship counsellors call it. Don’t be mislead, that’s what this is. A relationship between you and those who receive whatever you’ve made. And those receiving never agree with what each other want. If you have some indy, hippie, teen-aimed title then thats who you’ll connect with, at the loss of those who don’t click with such notions. And vice-versa. It’s all a bit anticlimactic, I feel like I’d built this up enough to make a more profound statement or something. But no I guess that’s it. All that’s left is to find a title great enough to compete with the greatest. What a laugh, here I am paying no heed to my own preaching. Just like me to leave the hardest task till last. This whole text is just one big ol’ bit of procrastination. If I knew better I’d probably just title this rant Procrastination. Actually all caps: PROCRASTINATION. Or even better, P R O C R A S T I N A T I O N. But this wouldn’t get me anywhere, the only way anybody will pay attention to this, will be convinced it has insight, is with a rip-snorter of a title.
I’m completely incapable of this however, as are so many.
this has been such a waste of time its good becasue i wanna sleep but cant becaseu i stayed up till three lat night god this is such a generic thing to do, and it jus tgets more generic as i continue typing nything on this generic platform
