There’s parts of us who want to hold onto the good memories and see our abuser as the comforting figure they pretended to be, but it’s undoubtedly frustrating knowing that the person they looked up to in life was not the person they needed to be around

Sometimes it feels like the only way someone would ever understand what happened to me is if they experienced it. We’ve always struggled with putting our abuse into words and it’s lead to a lot of problems. Even with our therapist, sometimes it feels like she doesn’t truly understand the severity of what happened.
