As someone who owns alot of cats do you play favorites? And do they have like sibling or parent dynamics?
Short answer: they all fucking hate each other and love me
Sunny: the first cat we got. He is in my bed 90% of the time, my parents call him my boy and my son. He's like 7 years old and hates everyone else. He will piss on my moms clothes then lay on my side and purr. He used to cuddle with our second cat but now she is only allowed close if he is sleepy and she doesn't touch him. Strangers get hissed at. The kittens get growled at. Sunny doesn't like anyone.
Shadow: queen shit. She's a badass, takes no shit. Used to absolutely dominate when she and Sunny play fought. Our second cat but a few months older than him. She's super fluffy and loves pets but only family is allowed to touch her because it's really easy to create static in her fur, which shocks her. She also hates our younger cats. She used to be my brothers favorite but has moved on to hanging out in my room since he moved out.
Casper: unlike normal cats, this dumbass is not tamed. He is domesticated like a dog. He's also the only one who's figured out how to open cabinets, and continues to try and open doors (he only fails because we have doorknobs) he's absolutely massive and strong as hell with the longest claws, but he's like. Baby. There's no thoughts behind his eyes, he wants nothing but pets. Technically he's an adult like Sunny and Shadow (he's like. 2?) But he sure doesn't act like it. He doesn't actually hate anyone (I don't think he knows how) however he does like chasing Shadow and... sneaking up on Sunnny and using his teeth to pull out his fur??? Maybe it's some kind of boy-cat thing. I dunno, I've only seen him to it once but im not omnipresent. His purr is so low that you can't really hear it, it's more of a rumble, which is funny cuz he's got the highest voice pitch. He is referred to as my second son and my big boy as he also loves me.
Lili: she loves our dog Winter. She is also our most talkative (Casper doesn't really talk he just. Yells. Lili responds to us) she's a lover, will run to you for pets if you call her name or wiggle your fingers at her. Lili doesn't really have a person I don't think, she spends most of her time laying down on the floor and watching us all from the hallway.
Mocha: our first forever kitten. We got her after our Husky Kaya, who likes to chase them around and put her mouth on them. It's more advantageous for her to be small, so she isn't growing. She loves Casper, regularly falling asleep curled against him. If Casper is asleep in the sink, solid chance Mocha will plop on top of him. He often starts playing with her which is concerning because he's like 4x her muscle mass and 3x longer claws.
Cocoa: Mocha's sister. Seriously they're from the same litter. I always put Cocoa last because Mocha is a long-hair but Cocoa is short-haired and thus even smaller. Cocoa loves Lili, and tends to be near her. Lili doesn't care either way.
Honorable mention: Josie was a fat old Calico bitch who hated everyone. However she slept near my dad every night and allowed him to cuddle her. She was scared of loud noises so I'd often hold her close every new years and she'd shake against me. I could feel her flinch every time a firework went off. Once the fireworks stopped and she'd calmed down, she would start yelling at me and hissing to be let go. R.I.P you cranky asshole
It's not that I play favorites, it's that my cats have their preffered people and places to be. Sunny likes my bed. Shadow likes my closet, and no one else is allowed in there cuz they can't behave. Casper likes to lean on my legs. Lili likes the body pillow I kept on my floor for Josie (had arthritis is her legs). Cocoa also likes the body pillow. Mocha likes to lean on me, but both Mocha and Cocoa are cuddlers who will plop on my chest or lap and purr for hours.
