I’ve finally drawn every version of Elina :,D Not gonna lie, you can’t really tell from the angle I chose but I did redesign her rainbow transformation a bit because I…. don’t really like how it looks in the movie. I put the redesign concept sketch under the cut if you’d like to look at it :]

Anyways. Time to find a new Barbie movie to fixate on and draw fanart for

The redesign isn’t anything crazy tbh. I mostly tried to mesh her first and second fairy form together and incorporate some rainbow elements. I wanted to keep her peony flower motif and also maintain that pink is still her main color. I also tried to avoid giving her wings too much of a butterfly shape (since she’s a flower fairy and not a butterfly fairy) but err idk how successful I was with that.

Again you can’t tell by the composition I chose in the piece but I gave her one flower to represent each color of the rainbow/each guardian of Fairytopia :]

i’m gradually working my way through every elina design at this point considering the rainbow one is the only one i haven’t drawn yet :,) i’d love to try to draw a fairytopia trilogy cover design too one day but I haven’t figured out a composition that I like so far so we’ll see!

Also I realized I accidentally participated in Mermay by drawing this so. Happy mermay!!!

My favorite activity is to randomly disappear and then come back with something ridiculous. ANYWAYS! I doodled my magical girl ocs in a Winx Club AU! You can find the “intro” post for these characters here! :]

For this AU I imagine that Briar would serve as the “new girl” audience surrogate character while the other three all somewhat know each other. Jane and Charlotte still have their little rivalry going on and Vilhelmina is that one oomf who’s just happy to be there but definitely has something else going on behind the scenes. No idea what the Big Bad threat would be in this scenario but I guess it could also just be a story of them integrating Briar into the world and solving various magical issues :D and nothing bad ever happens.

Originally I wanted to draw these characters in a madoka magica AU but that takes way more planning and whatnot so we’ll see if I ever get there…

Off the top of my head though, I’d say Jane/Ostara would be a Royal given how much she likes to follow (and reinforce) the rules, and Briar Rose would be a Royal who gradually becomes a Rebel as she learns more about the system (kind of like Briar in the show. I guess it was meant to be). Charlotte/Arachne is rebellious by nature and Yrsa/Vilhelmina’s entire storyline revolves around trying to change how the timeline pans out so they would both definitely be Rebels (though I’d argue Vilhelmina is unable to escape her “destiny”. Doomed by the narrative and allat). I have no idea what fairytales they’d be based on, but Briar Rose is already based on Sleeping Beauty, so it would have to be incorporated in some way. Charlotte is somewhat inspired by the story of Arachne, so I would probably lean into that for her (and there is also a Charlotte’s Web reference here), but I have no clue what I’d assign the other two yet. Jane feels like she’d be a character who seems good but is actually a villain, and Vilhelmina seems like a villain but is (arguably) good. In my delusional mind

And Roxy too if that’s okay. listen I know she’s not an official winx club member and I know she’s a little controversial as a character but I still wanted to draw her >_< As you can tell the redesign is not much of a redesign really, I just tried to make Roxy’s believix design align more with the winx club’s basic transformations. If I were to do a more proper redesign I’d definitely tweak the colors a lot so she could stand out more, her colors are unfortunately a little too close to Tecna’s imo

Ok this one is probably my biggest deviation from the original. I’m not 100% happy with the outcome so if I ever drew Tecna again I’d definitely adjust some things like the color blocking for the top and the overall shape of the pants. I tried to borrow a few things from Enchantix and mesh it with her original transformation while doing my best to maintain her overall sci fi vibe since I do think that the mix of fantasy and science fiction and fashion was its original appeal :] i guess my controversial tecna take is that i actually really like her original design for the wings (hence why i used them)

i know i’m lowkey jumping the winx order here but I wanted to draw Aisha first sorry. not much changed because the OG was cooking as usual (ignoring the likely AI generated reboot design). I tried to lean a little bit into a mermaid inspired aesthetic by adding pearls as her hair detail accessory, but I probably could’ve pushed it further (though i’m not necessarily a fan of how Aisha went from being the fairy of waves to the fairy of straight up water) (case in point the reboot) (so I’d want to find ways to still balance it)

In my mind Aisha is a lot more reclusive and takes her duties very seriously, so if I were to rewrite Winx i’d use her as a foil to Stella. They’re both princesses but one of them is very extroverted and sociable while the other is serious and reclusive and I feel like there’s room for an interesting dynamic there :]

If you think this redesign looks familiar yes i did in fact just take inspiration straight from Sophia’s Musa cosplay from Katseye but it was so good how could i not ☝️ I was pretty torn on the hair length though. I actually do really love the short pigtails on Musa that might be my winx hot take idk but with the glove and all I felt like the overall color blocking benefited from longer pigtails 😔

Speaking of colors, I tried to lean into a bit of a holographic color scheme for Musa. I know Techna is the technology fairy but i really associate Musa with those holographic colors you see on the back of CDs and those overly saturated arcade games so I wanted to take inspiration from that :]
