Remembering freezepops in summer
On Essential Oils…
’Sup, witches.
Since apparently it needs to be said—as the so-called wellness industry continues to expand and appropriate resources, folk wisdom, and indigenous traditions that frequently overlap into witchy circles—I'm here to remind you…
DO NOT INGEST essential oils.
ALL the credible scientific research and folk wisdom that prove essential oils beneficial as PSYCHOLOGICAL and MAGICKAL tools are from AROMATHERAPY and TOPICAL applications to the skin in small, diluted doses.
There are many many ways to safely use and enjoy essential oils as potent magickal ingredients and powerful meditative aides. Spray them, steam them, rub them, heat them. DO NOT DRINK THEM.
Many essential oils are TOXIC in certain preparations, concentrations, and doses. Remember your body processes substances differently when taken INTERNALLY rather than TOPICALLY—meaning the chemicals and nutrients in what you ingest are absorbed into your BLOOD STREAM through the digestive process.
Continuous ingestion of essential oils builds what is called a THERAPEUTIC LEVEL of chemicals in your system that can cause anything from short term ALLERGIC REACTIONS to permanent NEURAL DAMAGE.
Note that ANY essential oil taken internally—no matter how seemingly benign—can cause PAINFUL or even DEADLY allergic reactions if ingested over time.
Read that again.
Listen, even if you're not allergic to an essential oil BEFORE ingesting it continuously, you will likely DEVELOP an allergic reaction that can swiftly become PERMANENT or even LIFE THREATENING.
Do you really want to risk your health like becoming SEVERELY ALLERGIC to Basil, Lemongrass, Tea Tree, Lavender, or Eucalyptus for the rest of your life?
ANY book, spell, product, wellness regimen, or person instructing you to INGEST essential oils—either directly by dropper or as daily infusions in food or drink—is a DANGEROUS and INEXPERT source of information and should be disregarded, discarded, and avoided.
Dassit.
If you come across a source or meet anyone recommending non-FDA-approved essential oils be taken internally—even if you respect them…even if they've been correct on other matters related to health and magick…even if you truly believe they they have the best of intentions—please THINK FOR YOURSELF. Do your own research. Find broader sources. Listen to expert advice.
If you think you're honoring your body, your gods, your ancestors, your spirit, or amplifying your magick by doing something EVERY SINGLE EXPERT—biologists, doctors, nutritionists, aromatherapists, knowledgeable practioners, folk traditions on the use of sacred herbs and oils—says is DANGEROUS…nah fam.
Seriously, no. I love you. But no.
🌒 Signs I’ve always been a Witch 🌘
In college I would walk from my dorm to a local cemetery to meditate under a large stone cross and listen and reflect on the dead
In high school I added chamomile to the family vegetable garden and grew and brewed my own tea
Throughout elementary and middle school the majority of my play was outside. We didn’t have cable and only got two channels. I built natural shelters to “live” in outside. Always featured wreaths of gathered plants and rock formations.
In middles school I found a wooden box and kept my most precious collection of rocks in it and placed it in a hollow tree overnight because I imagined leaving them alone in the woods would make them special somehow
Wherever I’ve lived, I’ve always found certain trees that I thought of a individuals and feel drawn to spend time with. In my current city, I have several trees I visit regularly for different purposes.
I’ve always had a deep bond with animals. I’ve bottlefed/cared for many injured woodland creatures including baby skunks, a flying squirrel, a fawn, and a hummingbird.
My three favorite animals are cats, rats, and bats.
For my fifth birthday I begged for a Snow White cake but I only wanted the witch on it. Not the princess or the dwarves.
I’ve always collected interesting bottles, leaves, sticks, rocks, etc.
I’ve always felt safe outside, nighttime in the Forest is something I seek out.
Gotta dress professional but want witchy symbols?
Pandora is releasing more nature inspired jewelry (fall 2019). Not to say the jewelry itself is intended for witch craft, I do think they make excellent substitutes though.
KEYS! Keys are sacred to Hecate, Greek Goddess of Witchcraft, Magic, Midnight, Etc. Lots and lots of keys at Pandora and nobody suspects a thing. For extra witchy get three keys, as three is a sacred number to Hecate.
One of my favorites is the Cowrie Shell bead (often mislabeled coffee bean bead). Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Cowrie Shell has it's roots in Africa, often symbolizing feminine energy.
Wheat symbology is being used in pandora jewelry.

Pandora Jewelry can be expensive, I merely suggest it as an option for closeted witches in professional settings. Imma say it tho:
Witches working in a professional setting are Valid
Witches that don't wear jewelry are Valid
Witches that do wear jewelry are Valid
Don't let anyone tell you how to do your craft
it's friday the 13th, a full moon, and i found a dead monarch butterfly in front of my house.
