Nightwraith... Thoughts....
They're gonna be a cryptic asshole... But they're MY cryptic asshole.
As a lowk "f you" to the Mornwings, they walk on only their hind legs, using their front set of wings to support them.. (not that any of the Mornwings would see. But maybe it's like. Just to them. In the back of their mind... Proof they're shouldn't have been thrown out.)
So!!
Bit of history.
Their mother was an upper-class Mornwing, who met her father -- a Moonwing -- on a diplomatic trip to the Moonwing kingdom. Think Arctic and Foeslayer except they never had a proper relationship, and it only lasted as long as the Mornwing delegates stay in the Moon kingdom. Perhaps maybe even this was a bit of adultery. Perhaps its mother had a mate back in the Mornwing kingdom.... Yes.
A piece of her knew the dragonet inside her egg was a hybrid. And another part chose to ignore that. To pretend her calculations were wrong.. that she fell pregnant with the egg before or after that damned trip. Or perhaps this was the sun's punishment for her sins. So when her dragonet was handed to her - a beautiful, rose-gold coloured thing. A perfect mornwing. She was beyond relieved.
Little did she know that egg held twins. That one was tossed aside as it hatched ashen grey with an awful red line down its side. That her perfect little dragonet had hatched the day prior. The day of the bloodmoon.
Yet bore no mark of it -- to the matron's relief. At least one hatchling of the clutch was normal.
But Nightwraith's mother would still receive her punishment.
Like her sibling cast aside, Nightwraith's sister too began to sprout fur and a second set of wings. And so her mother's traitorous secret was revealed. Twenty three years later. (She was a VERY late bloomer leave her be)
And the rose gold dragonet thought perfect was run out of her home. Her perfect life. Her whole world shattering around her. She went from dining with nobles and royalty to being chased from her city as bones for limbs not yet fully formed pierced through her pristine scales. And flies until she can't any more, finding herself on the edge of the black sand messa. Bleeding. Exhausted. Betrayed by her tribe. By her mother.
For none other than Nightwraith to find her.

I will. Make Rosegold's post metamorphosis design. Later. Probably. Her secondary wings are gonna be waayyyyy smaller than Wraith's tho :D
In my mind Mornwings just have a shiny metallic strip of scaled down their side I'm sorry that's just what happened I fear. Headcanons' your tribe.
Maybe..... I might have Rose think if she bought information back about not ONLY the existence of the black sand mesa mornwings but also the location and the inner workings, she'd be forgiven for her mother's sins. She'd be let back in... (You won't you fool they'll just KILL YOU BEFORE YOU GET THE CHANCE)

So here's wip
Mornwing/Moonwing hybrid!
Hatched under a full lunar eclipse because I told you I had to get the g/m/ary sue character out of the way first ok? Ok. The fur on their neck and their second set of wings didn't come in until they were eight (thanks to the Moonwing genes!), but due to hybridism, rather than forming a chrysalis, the fur and extra set of wings just kinda. Emerged from the. The fur wasn't so bad... The wings were Torture. Imagine gaining a whole nother set of arms in three weeks. Like they just.. grow out of you. Bones and all.
Anyway! They're also blind, but due to their aura sense can "see" dragons around them. It gets very difficult to tell the living from the dead...
The wings are just. Inspired by nightwraiths from avatar. That is all. They're just very inspired by nightwraiths as a whole. Actually. I guess I might call them Nightwraith. Tee hee's evily. Anyway I hope this isn't too. Far.
I fear I've been cooking a little too long and I maybe reached insanity ok goodnight.

the first of many. ramblings below
They live in small groups of 15-30 dergs. These groups are differentiated by colours and traits (the deeper/brighter the colour the more attractive the worm. Prominent traits are favoured as well).
there’s around 10 groups in one area. They’re quite small so this is “sustainable” without any farming.
“Sustainable” because it’s not really. Fat (and the ability to keep it) is extremely endearing.
There’s really no set hierarchy. Nobody really cares if you have a mate outside of your group, as long as you look the same ish and the dragonet won’t have any problems.
Interacting with scavs will 100% get you killed.
Tails are often cropped as a tradition once the dragon is of age. This is to make the worm less easy to catch (tails are usually very long otherwise and also a tripping hazard).

Day 9 is here! I'm actually gonna take a small-ish break from the drags a bit bcs im gonna be drawing critters now, but this won't mean part 4 is gonna come out. If just mean imma focus more on my hollow knight side but still maintaining the MO: Astray-esqe characters. (Mainly bcs I did make them into creepy crawlies before but that was long ago)
Anyways some stuff: This guy (Harper) is based on a bull & that goddam zombie flower from MO: Astray- (Yeh I'm thinking Harper should be a bull now bcs ngl cows are pretty chill & ig he's chill + I'm kinda deciding to making Sirius into a Darwin's fox which IS a type of wolf so that's why)

Canon Tribes
Skywings have the special ability to grow & shed feathers during the more colder seasons of the sky kingdom. Also on occasion the firescales can become another color other than orange.
Seawings can spit out a foamy water which is black in nature & REALLY SMELLY! Also they can camouflage like octopi do.
Rainwings can make their frills look like a frilled lizards & have ABNORMALLY LONG TOUNGUES! (For catching bugs of course :) )
Mudwings who are the big wings of their troop are referred to as "Hippos" (in the militant sense) due to them being bigger & stronger than the average mudwing (bcs Hippos are frikin demons irl). (Also Mudwings can use their shed as a form of clay)
Icewings can us their shedded off spikes as a form of weaponry. Also their breath can heal burn based wounds. (But ONLY burn based wounds)

My Tribes:
Dwellerwings can role up into balls & roll into ppl like a pill bug
Mothwings have frost silk but when born on a full moon (similar to nightwings) they gain a silk known as moon silk, which has a strange cold burning feeling but has a slight glow. Also based on the environment they are in effects their fur coats.
Gaiawings sometimes can change the color of their scales, but not fur. (Also so can their colored wing tips)
Blumopuses can spit out a sticky mucus which may be sweet but REALLY STICKY! This is the same slime that is found on their paws.
Techwings can actually use their electricity to conduct machines & well... temporally resurrect someone. (Although better to use cpr when u can't get to a hospital in one of the sub cities of Spark City) (I forgor the name help)
Mistwings can melt into the water & even different types of gases. They're the only known dragons to be immune to ANY known Gases that exist.

Okay this is actually a really weird post but I wanted to go over it: What if Tui made a third continent, if so, what are the most likely fan tribes she would go for?
-A tribe with Feathers would probably be a pretty high up choice. Maybe they have something to do with controlling the air? The reason I think hypothetically this tribe could exist is because honestly, air isn’t really a covered element by the currently existing tribes. I mean Skywings are close but they breath fire, the only relation to air they have is they are really good at flying. I also feel like Tui could do something interesting with the tribe structure and abilities of the dragons, I feel like if they did exist they would be either very wealthy and royal or more so like the Mudwings where they have some sort of unique family structure and live in villages. Honestly, if Tui were to name them I feel Featherwings would be a bit on the nose but also…. Leafwings are named Leafwings because their wings are leaves so BEKDJDISJJD
-Rocks/Crystals. This is another pretty uncovered category. Seawings are water and the ocean, Mudwings and mud and swamps, Skywings are fire and flying really good, Sandwings are desert and sun, Nightwings are nightime and stars, Icewings are Ice… and ice, Rainwings are rainforest and chameleons, Silkwings are silk and butterflies, Hivewings are bees and bugs, and Leafwings are trees and greenery. This is how I usually think of each tribe and Rocks/Crystals aren’t really… covered by this? I even have my own fan tribe like this. I feel like realistically this is one of the most likely next steps Tui could take. And I imagine they could live in tunnels or mountainous regions.
-Lightning/Clouds/Thunder, also a very untapped category in terms of Wings of Fire. Although I feel it’s difficult to make their abilities without making them as OP as the Icewings are ( seriously Icewings are over powered nobody but animus dragons and Firescales really hold a candle, I mean maybe Leafspeak but ehhh not really. ) I feel like if this tribe were to be added to the series they might be called Stormwings or Thunderwings. I also feel they’d be portrayed as aggressive, kind of similar to the Skywings.
I think this is all that the series would realistically add if there was a hypothetical third continent, although there’s some other untapped categories like Space, deep underground, etc. those don’t seem within the fantasy realms of Wings of Fire in my personal opinion. I want to clarify though, this list is solely HYPOTHETICAL SPECULATION. There is literally a 1% chance Tui will make a third continent in my opinion, I don’t want more canon tribes honestly. It would be nice but I prefer the tribes we have already and keeping it at 10 seems to be a good move. This also does not mean you can’t create fan tribes outside of these categories or even inside these categories ( I have done both, if I was saying otherwise I would be a hypocrite!!! ) these are just my own thoughts and ideas, do whatever the hell you want and be creative!
