Colour blindness in the Outernet is also treated as the cultural equivalent of face blindness. Since many of the stick figures are so minimalist reducing the colours you can distinguish greatly reduces your ability to tell people apart.

i love your work and *raises glasses* hmm.. *grabs mic* WHAT ARE YOUR FAV HEADCANNONS FOR UU
OH MY GOSH HI 👋👋👋👋
okay so I forgot who i stole this from but they had a fire fic abt egg in the end w minute. But basically the idea that spawn is the heart of the world, and the farther away from spawn you go, the more… 😈heh… unstable things get. And it's like uh. Yk how deep sea divers have decompression chambers and stuff bc the pressure under so much water is wayy different from the surface- that's basically what it's like if you go from somewhere far away (like 50k+) back to spawn. It works like this for nether and end portals as well. The farther you're out, the longer it takes to go thru nether portals, be your body needs to acclimate. That's why nether portals dont work in the farlands, cause you'd need to wait like a very long time for your body to acclimate. Most of the time, you can force your body to go thru faster at the cost of a correlating amount of nausea, but in the farlands its just too much. Like the equivalent of that one dolphin biford mishap with the divers where someone opened the door and killed all four divers be the sudden pressure change. holy yap. End portals are different be you dont walk into them like nether portals, you fall into them. No time to acclimate at all. So going from the farlands (12mil blocks out from the end spawn) is such a crazy change of "pressure" that it probably knocks most ppl out.
okay i have more sorry
There's this phenomenon of if one has enough connection to a server then one gets locked in it. As in, can't leave. It's /possible/ to break the lock(s) keeping you in, but it's like. You have to let go of something. Like if spokes in the middle of his lying evil arc and then he decides that he NEEDS to leave, then he might have to come to terms with the fact that he is a manipulative liar, but he can do better. But it's just such huge loses that most ppl dont do it. But the reason is be the server requires some form of closure to the story. This phenomenon is called "lore locks" or being lorelocked. It's generally looked down upon to leave a server youre lorelocked into bc like. Bro give the other ppl closure yk.
Nametag magic!!! If you know someone well enough, looking at their nametag evokes a feeling of that person in your head or body. The more familiar, the stronger and more recognizable the feeling is. Its usually a few characteristics of the person, then your relation/ feelings to/abt them. Also theres like mods to make this not just for friends but for everyone, but some ppl think its an invasion of privacy and dont fw it. Nametag magic when u go invis it removes your name so no one recognizes you. Longterm invis it just jumbles the emotions of your nametag and makes it real blurry. Which if friends know its you weirds em out
^kinda related to the last part but in my headcanon theres like. A fourth type of potion, where its effect is weakened heavily, but it's a lot longer term. Invis mafia and wemmbu fake identity arc and batspies all use longterm invis. The player is still slightly visible, but like, distorted, frayed at the edges. Nametag basically invisible. Most longterm invis players wear coverings too, just to help
Oh my gosh my void and notvoid headcanons. That's for another post bc l've already yapped enough. maybe ill make a hybrid hes post if anyone cares
What if Twisted Wonderland's gravity is different than Earth's?
It would add another fundamental wrongness to Twisted Wonderland -- suddenly your steps are lighter, or maybe heavier, but it's just subtle enough that you think it's all from being disoriented. The longer you're there, the more you start to realize that, no, something IS wrong. The fundamental arc of anything thrown would change! (Objects wouldn't fall at the same rate.) Imagine a Yuu who's usually good at sports, but their coordination is thrown all off because the balls keep flying further than they should be.
If the gravity was lighter:
Yuu would be faster than average! This is purely because they've built up stronger muscle from walking with heavier gravity
I imagine this could lead to some sort Azul situation where they are surprisingly strong but don't necessarily have great stamina
Higher jumps too!!
Now that your own bodyweight is lighter, it's definitely easier to do things like pull ups
Sometimes you feel like you're walking on air
A few people wonder if you're maybe part fae
Run fast? Jump high? Yeah Vargas keeps trying to recruit you to the basketball team.
Ace says you should join because then you can finally work on your miserable catching and throwing
Good luck 👍 maybe you could join Deuce in Track and Field to stop their pestering! Jack would happy to have you there, too
When Floyd hears you might be joining you best bet he drags you to practice at LEAST once
But hey, given your now above average speed, it's not too hard to run away!
Only problem is that, unless you continue to work out the muscles, they'll atrophy and you'll fall back to being pretty average
In the meantime, you're not used to your own strength, and you may or may not have to explain to Vargas why a window is broken and the basketball is mysteriously gone
Ortho might be the one to figure out you experienced a change in gravity and would be absolutely FASCINATED
If the gravity was heavier:
Walking becomes HARD. You feel like you're hiking everywhere. Walking around campus is initially a pain; you get winded sooner than everyone else
Definitely mistaken for being a merfolk at least once -- you seem unsteady on land
This ofc reminds the merfolk of their first few times walking on land, and a few offer encouragement or suggest you take a walk together somewhere just to help you get used to it
It's a little embarrassing to be asked -- it only highlights how insecure you feel here -- but so much about the world is new that you decide to take someone up on the offer
Unfortunately(?)
That person is Azul
Of course he can help you adjust! The best way to do that is through practice. You know, there's an opening at the Mostro Lounge for a waiter
don't ask about the hours
Wooo! a job!! money!!!
And sure, carrying around trays of food and drink while adjusting to sudden added weight is difficult, but it pushes you and you learn to adapt fast
Overall, you learn more about Twisted Wonderland! Going back to the basics pointed out how many small ways the worlds differ
Which is great, because some guests at the Lounge (Rook and Lilia, to be exact) tip extra if you share stories
It might also help you find a way home!

🧠 the Games (arenas, Mentorship, banquets, idk)
Most of the arenas are built by avoxes and barely anyone in the Districts are involved in making them. Earlier games also used to be in more urban arenas like left behind structures and cities. Most of the games around the time of the 74th Games will take place in the outdoors
👑 a Victor (Games/arena-vibes)
Her arena was a dessert and managed to fair better than the other careers by actually being more resourceful about her supplies. Relatively short games lasting only 5-6 days
♥️♣️ Royalty AU Headcanons ♠️♦️
Hello tumblr! It's been a hot while, but I've returned with a real nice treat for ya! That treat being around 3,500 words of headcanons for
✨W o r l d b u i l d i n g ✨
Now, I know, neonross, the creator and rightful owner of this lovely, lovely AU has already done some worldbuilding and in no way am I trying to disrespect that or anything! Their word obviously comes first!
I just thought it would be fun to come up with some worldbuilding headcanons for the four kingdoms. ^^; So yeah, this entirely for funsies and only my personal take on this, so keep that in mind please.
Now, please enjoy!
Im bored, heres some Stardew World building headcanons under that cut
- the Ferngill Republic is culturally Pescetarian, which means its harder to find red meat and poultry as an offering. its possible, just not all that common! Eating meat is sorta seen as an alternative diet, usually done for medical or aesthetic purposes.
- The Santa equivalent is known as "Father North Star", and legends claim hes one of the last of the elves remaining alive.
- The Egg Festival, Spirits Eve, and Feast of the Winter Star are pretty ubiquitous across the republic, while the Flower Dance and Stardew Valley Fair are more regional to the Valley. The rest are generally pretty localized to Pelican town and the folks interested in those activities specifically
-The Mermaid pendant tradition came from the first inhabitants of the valley, who came off the gem sea and settled there. Generally the pendant would be something one of the hopeful lovers would hunt for themselves, however the sea snails that produce the shells necessary are severely endangered now, making acquiring real, fresh pendants extremely difficult and Extremely Illegal. Most are heirloom items from past family members.
- Junimos are a type of fey from their own equivalent of the fey wilds, while the crop fairy and the fairy box fairies are Pixies native to the normal world.
- Stardew Valley, but more specifically Pelican town and Cinder Sap are extremely magical areas known as a cross roads. Generally theyre guarded by 3 mages: A wizard for the Metanatural (ie spirits and extra planer beings like fey creatures), a witch for the supernatural (ie monsters and void spirits), and a druid for the paranatural (ie the talking animals and more magical plants). While a Crossroads can function with 1 skilled guardian, 2 or 3 is preferred.
- Grandpa was the latest druid for the valley, and his death was a pretty large blow to the Valley because he was the only one who was stable for a long time
- The wizards focus on the physical realm meant he eschewed keeping the physical barrier between the valley and the land of the junimos stable, hence why a bunch are stuck in the valley
- this is why the junimos arent fond of the Wizard, hes why theyre stuck in the first place.
- The witches rage is also why so many void spirits are hostile outright, shes stopped protecting them from both dangerous humans are deadly monsters in her rage and left them to fend for themselves.
- The majority of Void spirits aren't hostile either, they just dont trust humans after years of bad blood between them, humans, and Dwarves. Krobus is unusual for his friendliness, not his hospitality. Most void spirits simply hide from humans.
- Dust sprites are to void spirits as mice and rats are to humans.
- Mr. Qi is ginger islands guardian. He generally does a better job of it than the wizard and witch in the valley.
- regular old snakes are pretty rare in the valley, but strangely common in the desert.
- most of the skeletons bones aren't human, theyre either calcium deposits or animal and monster bones cobbled together with human bones.
-Being able to perceive magical beings is a rare skill that can either be honed or naturally had. The farmer can innately see a lot of nonsense since their grandpa was the valleys druid, while Emily has honed her ability to perceive super and paranatural events through meditation.
- Jas can see fairies, but no one believes her because shes so young.
- Generally speaking, colorful hair is a sign of magical ability, either learned or innate. Magical ability can be suppressed, either consciously or subconsciously, or it can atrophy though a lack of use.
- Most people in Pelican town have at least a minor amount of magical ability or malady, rarely anything major or life changing, just off putting or handy.
Feel free to share yours, id love to hear more!
I saw you had a post where you thought abt Dathomirian culture and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on how specifically Dathomirian queer culture manifests. I'd like to come up with things myself but I don't actually know a lot in general abt Dathomir yet, so I want other opinions. I've got two ideas tho
-Dathomirian queer ppl call each other "family" like some queer ppl did in our world
-Trans men might like earn their horns thru hunting and using animal bones and stuff as their horns? Idk like I said I don't know much
Good question! I haven't actually thought that much about queer culture in Dathomir despite having a gay nightbrother oc,,
I think the calling each other family thing probably wouldn't work very well since they already treat their clan as family and call each other brother and sister even without blood relation, but I love the idea of trans nightbrothers earning their horns! Dathomirians as a whole seem to be pretty open to body modifications, with tattoos being so natural in their culture, so hunting animals to use their bones or teeth or something to produce "prosthetic" horns sounds very fitting. It could be a whole thing for both trans and cis nightbrothers, using the extra horns as a way to show off their strength. plus it opens up the possibility of nightbrothers implanting horns in whimsical shapes such as smiley faces, stars or penises
I think as a people composed of multiple isolated communities, there's probably not a uniform queer culture across the planet. But also as people who tend to live in single-sex communities they are likely far more queer on average than what we see in the rest of the galaxy, like how cowboys were famously queer. They supposedly spend most of their lives around the same gender, so it wouldn't be unusual for that to be the gender they express attraction to more often. Though, much like how cowboys have been "reinterpreted" as a symbol of straight white masculinity, there's probably also a popular misconstruction of their culture as extremely straight, and/or extremely celibate. The "Nightsisters rule over Nightbrothers" reading of their culture is very obviously meant to show them as a reverse-sexist society, making the nightsisters a sort of "girl power" icon — they are strong independent women who can pick any man they want (implying that they do want men), which is like saying cowboys are strong fearless men who woo every damsel that crosses their path. which. sure, cowboys did have sex with women. sure, nightsisters do have sex with men. but more often than not they will be around other nightsisters, so they will more often than not have relationships with women (even if they're not really gay).
but I am not usamerican and my brain has the consistency of molten ice cream, so my knowledge of american cowboy culture is. basically just that. (the brazilian cowboy culture is quite different, especially considering there's like three distinct cowboy "sub"cultures, each with their different history, territory, and associations) So that's as far as I can take the cowboy comparison, but cowboys can be a pretty good source of inspiration I think. maybe look into that?
A quick look into medieval monasteries (another famously gender-segregated culture) says they were also pretty gay. And that the sexual persecution that is so commonplace in christianity today was not really a thing yet back then, which is also something to consider when trying to conceive the queer culture of a people who have nothing to do with our modern (overwhelmingly christian) society — do they have a reason to reject queer people and relationships, or are we just projecting our own worldviews and experiences onto a people who have none of the sociohistorical context that shaped our experiences?
I think homosexual/romantic and even polyamorous relationships would be pretty normalized, since there's not really any reason to only accept hetero relationships if they rarely ever live in mixed-sex communities. That said, there's probably still some expectation of heterosexual activity, in the form of the Selection and its implied procreation purposes. Dathomir is a very isolationist world, so to keep their population stable they need to procreate, even if it "goes against" an individual's sexuality. And this is where I think polyamorous relationships have reason to be encouraged: if a nightsister or nightbrother who already has a partner takes part in a Selection, why not bring their partner(s) into the relationship as well and increase the likelihood of producing offsprings?
As for the gender side of queerness.... well that's probably A Lot more complicated than I have time to discuss here. The gender binary seems pretty enforced in their culture from what little we see, and their sexual dimorphism probably makes trans and/or intersex people stand out A Lot more
I've mentioned this before, but I headcanon that the skin color difference is not a sex-chromosome-bound characteristic, but instead a sex-hormone-related expression of pigmentation, like in some birds such as peacocks. Both males and females are shown to have a range of skin tones, but in females it manifests as grayscale while in males it manifests as a color scale from red to yellow. So intersex people might have colors that are in-between, or that don't "match" their apparent sex, and trans people who undergo their equivalent of hrt might slowly change skin colors over time.
As for how nonbinary people work.... well as someone who is from a latin american country and speaks a romance language, I would like to imagine their "nonbinary" is a lot like ours — there is no "neutral" gender, they simply play with their presentation to be between one and the other, leaning towards whichever one might be considered more "transgressive" at the moment.
I don't think trans people would be forced out of their clans for being a different gender than everyone else, but it's possible their role in the clan might change to something more "befitting" of their new gender I also think there's probably a lot more contact between different clans than just the Selection, so it's possible for people who decide to start over as a new gender to take one of these moments of contact as an opportunity to "visit" another clan and never come back.
..... aaand it's almost 2 am so I gotta hit post
World Building Headcanons for Teyvat
Some of these are stuff I believe while some of these are just plain old stupid. Hope yall enjoy!
Every day of the week is named after the different Archon's demon names like Moraxday, Buersday, etc. Stupid but takes some real-world inspiration from actual days of the week and months
Mondstadt has a holiday in the summer called 'Freiheitstag' which roughly translates to 'Freedom's Day' where Mondstadt celebrates the freedom they earned
and, inspired by Hunchback of Notre Dame, Fontaine has its own version of 'Topsy Turvy Day' where it's a whole weekend when they celebrate artists, performers, etc. People come from all around Teyvat to celebrate and perform since Fontaine is the centermost nation. This holiday also is celebrated in every nation now and Mondstadt has the second-largest festival, after Fontaine
Diluc's Father Crepus let the Knights of Favonious take over Angel's Share twice a year to have a 'host club' sort of evening and all the proceeds go to charities around Teyvat. Diluc lets them do it once a year now but all the proceeds go to charity still and he is always the biggest donator
The Knights hold a large end-of-year ball every year which all of Mondstadt attends in big fancy dresses for a night of free food and drinks to celebrate the new year
Finally, I know I've said this one before and I'll say it again! Alice builds all sorts of contraptions that are made for Klee in mind and sells them to all the kids in Teyvat. This includes radios and records along with projectors. She single-handedly started the film industry in Fontaine and now animation and other films are huge there.
Due to projectors and movies, Klee gets Albedo, Kaeya, and sometimes other knights into Kaeya's office and they have weekly movie nights
