steps of strife
“I. Don’t. Dance.” Each word was venom against her lips, each syllable ached, each sound was an attack of her heart. I have never danced. I will never dance. Who does he think he is asking me to do so? He knows how I feel. “That’s a pity.” His fingers fell upon her shoulder, they forged a chilling path down her arm until they reached her hand and took hold of it. “I was considering showing these people what true grace really is.” “Grace? Reid, I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, I don’t dance.” “But you know how. You’ve seen them do it a thousand times.” She stilled as his other hand touched the small of her back. He angled his body toward her, lowered his head, and smirked in her face. “So, how about it?” “Reid, I-” “Can’t? Won’t? What if you do? What of it then?” He chuckled menacingly, “What is the worst thing that could happen?” Many things. Dreadful things. Falling on my face, making myself more of a laughing stock amongst the nobility - Many, many things. Reid appeared to see the answer in her eyes, he sighed. “Isolde, either you dance with me, or I do something far worse.” A lump formed in her throat. One of anxiety. Of anger. She did not appreciate being cornered. “Like what? Kill a man? You wouldn’t risk the wrath of the people let alone blowing your precious cover. There is nothing you could do that would convince me to dance with you. Nothing at all.” His smirk deepened. “I could do this.” Reid moved his head forward and her heart leapt in alarm. His lips very nearly brushed against hers until she planted her palms flat against his chest and shoved, moving with him with one hand still intertwined, and onto the dance-floor. As Reid recovered his stance, stepped slowly into position and ensured his hands were in the right place, she leant forward and murmured into his ear. “The moment this ends, I will wipe the floor with you.”
Writing siblings
here are actual things that sibling do:
-make fun of their parents together -make fun of their other siblings -take each other’s clothes -fight over chores -gossip about cousins -watch tv or movies that are appropriate to the youngest sibling -watch tv or movies that are NOT appropriate to the youngest siblings -help with mean teachers -help cheat on assignments for school -BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE DO NOT CALL EACH OTHER “BRO” OR “SIS”
have you ever written anything SO honest & SO personal in your story that you LITERALLY HAD TO TAKE A NAP AFTERWARDS to replenish the emotional energy you expended in producing that scene, or is that just me???

We can give a character depth by ensuring that not everything is as it appears.
One way to do this is to ensure that the character has a different "status" depending on their social circle. For instance, the character might be the boss at home but may be subservient at work. Or they might be the boss at work but a subordinate in their family. By creating situations in which the character's power dynamic changes based on their social situation, we can explore the differences in how the character acts when they have power and how they act when they don't. This is a powerful way to reveal character.
We can also give a character depth by considering how their behavior might be conditional. In Toy Story, for instance, Woody is generally a good friend and leader. However, if his position as top toy is threatened, he turns into an intensely selfish character. This shift based on context shows us that the character's behavior is multi-faceted depending on the situation.
We can also show that there's more to a character than what appears on the surface by injecting a contradiction into the character. For instance, a hypochondriac might have no sympathy for others who are sick. A rat might have no tolerance for those who are dirty. An assassin might be the sweetest person you've ever met--when they're not on the job.
What techniques do you use to inject depth into your character?

The Boys of Leisureville
Here’s some inspiration from my Pinterest board. It’s for a book I’ve been working on. I’m not close to being finished yet. These pics are honestly loosely based on the stories, I just thought it be cool to post on here:)
Relationships I don’t see in books and I’m sad about it
Non-straight relationship I mean why there should always a woman and a man like it’s boring and many people can’t even relate to it
On-off relationships I feel like this is more interesting and closer to reality
Relationships with villains I mean actually seeing what is like dating an evil person not like omg he hates everybody but is nice to me ; seeing a couple planning together an evil plan idk
Relationship with Imperfect characters I mean having that I fell in love with him because he had blue eyes and he happened to die for me is kinda shitty you know like teenagers need to see that love is not all about looks and they deserve love too; also it’s way more realistic;
Relationships that actually explains why sacrifices are important
Greek myths I just mythology and the Greeks explaining of love is one of my favorite things like people need to get that back
Not the ideal love story
