I have finally committed to the idea of writing my sci-fantasy novel. I’ve also decided to write down this journey because why not. It’ll be fun to look back on. And hey, it might even be a helpful resource for whoever stumbles across this dairy-microblog-whatever it is.
For today I’m simply going to record some of the writing resources I’m currently using.
1. Google Docs. I honestly love this platform, as it allows me to access my work whenever, where-ever. (I’m primarily using an iPad Pro with a keyboard for my work, because portability is a must, darling.)
2. World Anvil. This platform is freaking bomb. Admittedly, I’m still figuring out the ins-n-outs of it- not because it’s complicated, (miss me with that crap), but simply learning how to maximize the incredible organization it offers you. It’s a genuine godsend because I’ve tried self-organizing things many, many times before, but it never really works out the way I want it to, lol. But with this, I can tag and link self-created articles and actual web articles, sort them by category- THERE IS EVEN A TIMELINE. AN HONEST-TO-GOD TIMELINE. Tbh, I hated making these things in history class- we had to like cut things out and color them and ugh it was terrible, but this is so awesome. The timeline is even color-coded, so my lazy-but-also-super-hardworking-butt can easily tell what kind of event it is- be it a coronation, birth, death, war, etc. And it has this secret function, so I can make notes that are part of the main article, but only visible to me, so I can see my plot twists and what-not without the whole world being able to see. Because, oh yeah, this platform is set-up so that you can invite people to ‘beta-read’ it in a sense, so you can make sure things aren’t totally whack and-
Am I raving about this platform or rambling? I don’t even know man. But you get the point. This platform is rad. Only sad part is that it’s just a website, at least as far as I know. Which means I can’t access it when I don’t have WiFi. T-T . Oh well. Nothing can be perfect. *cough* except Google Docs *coughs*
3. Map Creator. Haven’t really used this a whole lot, except for playing around but I do intend to utilize it. NOTE: I have no idea if this like the bast platform for map-building, and it’s probably not, lol, but it a really handy, and, most importantly, functioning one, so. If there’s a better one that you know about that is USER-FRIENDLY, please tell me about it. (Can you tell that I’m an Apple person just from that one sentence. HAHA.)
4. Tumblr. Maybe this is kind of no-duh, but I seriously mean it. I haven’t been rebooting posts or anything like that, mainly because I want to have my blog made-up of only my little daily entries, BUT I have been liking things that are useful and relatable. The latter is merely another kind of useful, honestly, because it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one. So yeah. The posts I’ve liked thus far are visible to all, and in all actuality, you’ve probably seen them, haha. But hey. It counts.
5. My Own Glorious Imagination. Pretentious, aren’t I. hehe. But, really, if your own imagination isn’t your primary resource- Honey. USE IT.
Alrighty, sprite-ies, I think that about covers it. I shall return again tomorrow.
