I think Link and Zelda would have kids but they would NOT:

1. Have them in their 20s

2. Be stay at home parents (no, neither Zelda nor Link would be a housewife/husband and you cannot change my mind)

3. Raise them as royals (with titles, in the castle, with sacred duties, etc.)

4. Name their daughter ‘Zelda’ as is tradition

5. Name their son ‘Rhoam’ after Zelda’s dad

Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown

In Four Swords, Zelda met Link in the village within Castle Walls when they were around eight years old. They don't go as far back as in Skyward Sword or The Minish Cap, but ended up growing close fast. However, once Zelda's powers began to show and her duty to the shrine arrived, they unwillingly grew a bit distant... It's just before the events of the game that they reconnect, as Zelda does not trust anyone else to turn to more than him.

One more week until Echoes of Wisdom! I wonder if Link and Zelda know each other? Will they be close, or will they form a friendship based on the fight against Ganon? We'll soon find out!!!

Getting all soft thinking about the rare occasions of Link actually speaking verbally out loud to Zelda.

At one point it did bug her, ate at her, felt that his silence was a way of him mocking her failure to her role while he seemingly had everything figured out and held everyone's praise - including her father's. However, that was way before Link had actually explained his reasoning to her, the weight of the world being on his shoulders and felt it upon himself to commit to a silent vigil not to disappoint the people of the kingdom that he knows is heavily relying on him. That alone changed how the princess viewed the knight.

Now, even moreso after the Calamity, she doesn't mind. Link has ways of communicating outside of verbal speech in ways of nods, points, and his own unique form of sign language she's very much well picked up on understanding! She even likes to think she's the most expert on said sign language, a badge she wears in prideful honor.

Link is a very good listener and it helps he very much enjoys hearing the princess talk, especially about her research, he can listen to her for hours on end about scientific things that he'll admit he's not the most knowledgeable about to where at some points Zelda could be rambling about something he has no clue what even is but he still enjoys listening to her either way because it's her and talking about these things makes her happy! So he'll just nod along and sign very simple questions that relights the princess' excitement even more as she'll go into further detail about whatever and Link is just left like: :)

On the rare occasions Link does actually speak he is very soft spoken, especially pre-Calamity. Honest to Hylia Zelda nearly fainted the first time she actually heard him. One of these instances I like to think was definitely after the spring of Courage, granted it wasn't the first time I think Zelda has heard him but I feel like it was one that was definitely most impactful.

Just Link helping her out of the spring and they sit at the foot of the water for a bit, Zelda probably crying and still cursing at herself saying so much damming things about herself like she's a failure, a burden, and ect and then just out of nowhere:

"You're not a failure." Or something along those lines, just something to try to get through to her that she isn't all those cruel things her father or some gossipers said her out to be. She is so much more than that and he knows it, and he needs her to know it too.

So it's obvious given the fact Tulin seems at least a few years older than he was in breath of the wild and Riju as well seems definitely taller than she was previously shown as well that at least two or so years minimum have passed since that game, so everyone is going to go through some kind of change before the game starts and Zelda's new haircut seems to be one of them. I think it's very unlikely we'll actually see the actual hair getting cut in game and it'll realistically just be left as an unspoken thing but that just leaves room for speculation and headcanon!

That being said... Link vocally telling her point blank after maybe just one day out of the blue coming home from Kakariko Village visit (they lived together in the Hateno house, Nintendo can pry that from my cold dead hands) the moment she walks through the door, now with her hair now considerably shorter;

"You look breathtaking." Then he goes right back to whatever he was doing inside the home before she arrived leaving Zelda speechless at the doorway just: 🧍🏼‍♀️

Zelda's a bit awkward, she doesn't know how to address it but it makes her feel... giddy. Maybe she didn't know how she felt about the haircut at first when Impa presented her the mirror to check it how it turned out, at first it was a complex motion - a symbolic action that she was finally ready to leave the past behind and work towards a brighter future, but even still she had this swirling in her gut on the ride home. But now? She adores it, she's reassured of her choice. She is ready. And she's glad to have her beloved knight at her side to live out that future.

No matter what future hardships that are to come.

His hair is soaked.

Of course, it really shouldn’t surprise her. The rain outside has yet to let up, and it certainly wouldn’t have done so just because he needs to feed the horses. He changed his shirt, but what good does that do when his hair is still dripping slowly on his shirt, on the table, on the floor?

Zelda lets out a sigh, a smile pulling at her lips. As much as she could take the boy out of the wild, she could not (and would never dream to) take the wild out of the boy. She takes a towel, dry and soft and warm, and crosses over to where he sits hunched over the recipe book. He’s looking for dinner, but he’s really only wetting the pages.

An undignified noise leaves his lips when she drops the towel uncerimoniously on his head, but as she starts to dry his hair, gently massaging at his scalp, at the hair behind his ears, at his beautifully long sideburns, he sinks into the chair with a sigh.

“You’re getting everything wet,” she points out, pressing a kiss to his damp hair when she lowers the towel to his ends. “I’m starting to think you do this on purpose.”

Link tilts his head back to look up at her with a warm smile. There’s something mischievous in his gaze that confirms it for her: he never dries his hair because she does it for him. Zelda really can’t be mad. He’s as precious as a puppy, and she’ll do anything to see him with that smile.

I’ve come to the conclusion that while Botw Link is chaotic on his own, out of the two of them when they’re together, Zelda is the wild child.

❥ sometimes they travel in disguise so they don’t have to deal with people recognizing them and wanting to chat or fawn, but their disguises are always really bad and easily seen-through; most people can see that they’re trying and leave them alone on principal

❥ zelda joined a local band in hateno which is made up of all old people and small children. they play folk songs at cute little events and link always goes to every one

❥ morning cuddles. always. 

❥ all of the neighborhood cats and dogs were fed and loved by zelda, to the point where the morning chores now include setting out food for close to 20-something animals and the local wildlife is beginning to get smart (including the occasional blupee). link initially complained but ofc ends up loving the animals just as much as her and plays with them!

❥ one of their favourite spots to visit has always been the hot springs up in the Hebra Mountains, especially on clear nights when the stars and northern lights are out. it’s super romantic and there’s never anyone around!

botw headcanons babey!

hi the clown is back with even more botw hc’s! i’m REALLY bored rn, so what better way to lose brain cells right- (btw these aren’t as wholesome as the others, they’re just more stupid than my usual hc’s):

Which one tags the other in pictures of cute animals: link tags zel in the “no talk with me i’m angy” baby panda pic. then he leaves a comment like, “hey! it u!!” and zelda never gets mad cause….. it’s link….. and it’s cute in a…. special way

Which one injures themself while trying to impress the other: jfafjbljfaljf LINK. he’ll say, “hey zel, wanna see a cool trick? :D” and then zelda’s like, “:D !!!!” so then link hops onto his hylian shield and surfs down a hill. 30 seconds later, his shield suddenly breaks and link ends up rolling down the hill and then he can’t stop rolling so zelda is just watching like, “D:”

Which one carries the other on their shoulders when they get too tired to walk: both of them! since zelda has been cooped up her whole life, her stamina was poor when she and link first started exploring together. link would offer to carry her when she was tired, (how can you say no to the cutest boy in the world?) one day zelda decided to change it up. she turns to link and says, “i wanna carry you.” he was like, “?? ok.” at first zel was kinda scared she wouldn’t be able to do it, but lo and behold, she lifted him without a problem! 

link: “do i even weigh anything to you” 

zelda: ”no, its like holding a couple of grapes :)” 

Which one puts pizza rolls in the shopping cart when the other isn’t looking: 

zelda: “i don’t remember putting these in here??” 

link: “so...?” 

zelda: “ok good point” 

link: “what are pizza rolls anyway” 

zelda: “?? also good point”

Which one sends the other useless fun facts at 3 am: they both have trouble sleeping so they look at memes together on their shieka slate and make fun of people on instagram:

Which one feeds stray animals: THEY BOTH DO link and zelda both ADORE animals, so they have fun feeding the doggies and froggies :3c and don’t forget about all the wild horses too!!

Which one sleeps in really weird positions: jddfjjgd both of them.... they fall asleep cuddling but it only takes them a couple hours to end up in a weird, tangled, but surprisingly comfy position. there’s various limbs splayed across the bed, and they just look like a pile of blond, messy hair. but hey! they’ve been separated for 100 years, these love birds deserve all the cuddles <3

Which one opens all the jars/bottles: you’d be surprised how much muscle a twink can store..... (link, it’s link who opens all the jars and bottles)

Which one buys the other really weird birthday cards: ashdsfkg i feel like zelda would be the birthday card cryptid. she’ll get link a stupid card that says something like, “remember to drink 8 cups of water today...” and then the inside says “to have a ha-PEE birthday!” and then link is just standing there like, “??? i don’t get it”

headcanon that Zelda is absolute T R A S H for the Sheikah outfit on Link cause she's just checking him out the entire time and he can't help but get a lil embarrassed but he loves it tbh

this is 100% canon and no one can convince me otherwise

also for your consideration: Link gets Zelda a Sheikah outfit too because why should she get to have all the fun
