All my characters live in a world where a virus has broken out that makes people attack other people out of fear. Years have passed and there are already protection zones where people live in a „normal“ everyday life again.

Content: more lore focused on survivors and type of humans in the post-apocalyptic world infested by the little g0d of De4th. The last lore batch will revolve around the different stages of the infection.

The Survivors

As in every apocalyptic world where humanity is pushed to its limits, people seeks groups to increase chances of surviving. Survivor groups are all different. Some take advantage of the collapse and indulges in criminal behavior, following a “survival of the fittest” logic. Others choose isolation, unwilling to relive the death of loved ones. Yet, most people simply try their best. They gather into more or less organized groups with one shared goal: survival, as they cling to the hope that the old world might return one day.

However, some humans have developed unusual traits. Because of this, survivors are divided into three categories:

☣︎ Redblooded are ordinary humans. Their resistance to the fungus varies, just like any immune system. The vast majority of survivors fall into this category. The leader of a group is always one.

☣︎ Shields are rare and highly valued individuals who display an unusual resistance to the fungus. Their bodies are less susceptible to infection from spores and parasitic worms. A very small number can even survive a few scratches without immediate infection though this resistance is limited.The cause of this trait remains unknown. The only known common factor among Shields is that they have all experienced a near-death experience (NDE).

Because of this, Shields can remain in heavily infected zones longer, making them an invaluable asset for scavenging and resource gathering. However, they are not truly immune and can still become infected. A bite will infect a Shield like anyone else.

→ The only known exception is Riley, the sole known Shield to have survived a bite, even if this isolated event is more of a one-time miracle than anything else. Moreover, people often pressure Shields to complete dangerous missions, not minding their consent because “it’s their role” and might view them as tools.

☣︎ Visionaries are also rare individuals gifted (or cursed) with the ability to literally smell the fungus, unlike other humans. They describe the scent as a mix of damp earth, sickly sweet vanilla, and a metallic tang. This ability allows them to detect: 1) Moderately to heavily infected areas. 2) infected individuals before symptoms show. 3)Locations where the roots of the Little g0d of Death are most concentrated, even underground.

However, this very practical gift comes at a high cost. Indeed, visionaries are extremely sensitive to the parasite and are more prone to infection. As a consequence, Visionaries can be a liability in many situations. After several incidents where Visionaries became infected and spread the fungus to their groups, killing then all, some survivor communities now refuse to accept them or even execute them on sight.

-> Some Visionnaries are prone to insomnia because they claim they hear the fath3r whisper in their brain.

Please keep in mind that these two mutations aren’t common at all.

Survivor Group Structure

The most sustainable (yet also the most difficult to achieve because of the Shields and Visionaries rarity) core structure in a group revolves around:

• A leader. A small number of advisors. At least one medic (someone with basic medical knowledge). One Shield. One Visionary.

This balance offers the best chances of survival, combining leadership, resistance, awareness, and care.

The Cult: Driven by human madness, some have come to see the parasite as a divine plague. A creation sent by God to cleanse the world. These fanatics have formed a cult known as “The Chosen Ones.” They deliberately capture “pure” or “worthy” humans, infect them, and offer them as sacrifices to the little G0d of Death, the holy m0ther and the holy fath3r. It is another threat to survivors.

Premise of a movie: During prom night, the students and teachers attending the event suddenly find themselves under attack from a coven of vampires (the leader is played by Nicholas Hoult). At the same time, a mad scientist (played by Jeremy Renner) causes a leak in a top secret laboratory in the town, resulting in a zombie outbreak. Now, the survivors at prom must survive both the vampires and zombies in order to make it to dawn, or at least until someone comes to rescue them.
