I remember the TADC theory that Digital Copies could only abstract in their assigned bedroom. This theory also included that this is why Kinger is in his pillow fort and never in his room.

Anyway, I have this idea/ headcanon that the mental state of the Digital Copies are always being tampered with by Caine when they are outside of their room. Their sense of self isn't changed per se but they are bit more alleviated by their strange circumstance so they become a little bit more amicable with Caine's adventure.

Through trial and error, Caine learned the threshold at which his tampering with Digital Copies lead to abstraction so he tampers with the character's mental state in small dosage. Additionally, he also wants to give his players a chance to genuinely like his adventure. His still has that characteristic of seeking human approval in him but it is contended with his god complex. He is a Creator who highly values the opinions of his Creations, but at the same time, he will punish his Creations for daring to speak against him and his ideas.
