sometimes the absence is more compelling. let's lack something and then feel its presence forever in the empty space where it should be.
"Logicians, mathematicians, and contemporary physicists continue their effort to prove that reality is entirely positive. âThe pail has a holeâ is just a misleading way of describing the shape of the container. Or it expresses disappointment with the pail or conveys a warning. Once a metaphysician completes an inventory of all the positive things, he is done characterizing the nature of the universe."
whenever i look into a historical monarch who doesnât get talked about much and is just kind of a blank spot in my understanding of the historical narrative, 95% of the time what i find is pure white hot blistering capability. a pencil pusher for the ages. a 39 year reign with no more than three hours of sleep a night. there arenât any good stories from his reign because he systematically caught and stopped all catastrophic good stories before they could start. you shrimply must respect it
Which of these three situations could your girl blorbo handle the best?
Straight marriage
Beauty pageant
Babysitting three children under the age of seven
Sheâd fail miserably at all of them <3
My girl blorbo is a child and will be exempted from these situations
"The places where having disability can make sex different or more difficult often aren't so much about having bodies that might work or not in different ways than for others, but about lack of access to sexual partners and partnerships (both in terms of attitudes, but also per literal accessibility, like wheelchair access), lack of access to sex education, birth controlâ  or sexual healthcare that others are provided, and social issues, like finding partners who are evolved or open-minded enough in their own sexuality to accept that bodies are unique and that there are far more than just one or a few ways to be sexual.
That last bit can be and often is a problem for everyone who wants a quality sexual life, not just for disabled people. If you or a partner have ever asked yourself, each other or someone else (like us!) why you or someone else can't do something sexual you "should" be able to, why you or someone else don't like something they or you "should," or you or a partner have struggled with trying to make something work or feel good that just will not work or feel good, then it's been or is a problem for you. If you've driven yourself to tears to try and make something feel good for yourself that didn't but that a partner wants to do, if you've kept trying to do something with a partner that clearly doesn't work for them, then it's been or is a problem for you. If you've worked to try and resemble someone else's fantasy instead of being your own reality, then it's been a problem for you. If you've used a term like "real sex" to describe one given activity or way of having sex, then it's been a problem for you.
The problem isn't your body or mind or someone else's body or mind not doing what they are supposed to, because when we're doing it right, there just isn't a supposed-to in sex. I know, I know: you can pick up a ton of magazines or books that tell you there is. But they only keep saying that because they both make gobloads of money on all the folks who want to badly to believe it's all that simple and homogeneous, and because most of the folks who write that stuff themselves haven't outgrown that way of thinking, which is a pity for everyone. The problem is staying stuck in ideas about or definitions of sex that might be someone else's that work for them (or don't, but they still cling to them all the same), but which won't or don't work for you, and not recognizing that the aim is to explore and find what works for you, uniquely, rather than reading from someone else's script based in fantasy or in someone else's body or sexuality."

here comes the airplane
đĽ Readers added context they thought people might want to know
If Utena Tenjou ate a lithium-ion battery, she would turn into an electric car, not an airplane.
Did you find this helpful?
Yes
Yes
Itâs a big mistake to think youâre the only one who can turn into a electric car
[image description: a screenshot of two youtube shorts with their thumbnails next to each other. one, titled "lithium is dangerous," shows a person holding a lithium battery. the other, titled "revolutionary girl utena (welcome - bĂ´a)," shows a still from revolutionary girl utena of utena in profile with her eyes wide and her mouth slightly open, so it looks like she's about to eat the battery." end description.]
I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friendâs parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friendâs parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.
Tell me how your parents met in the tags.
Something I think about a lot with regards to a post-canon RGU Utenthy situation is how exactly they are weird about sex. Cos you know they are but like. How specifically.
Anthy is like the Queen of Disassociation From Her Mortal Body and also the movie suggests she's more than willing to be sexual with Utena even if it's maladaptive. So while there's a part of me that would love to believe she maybe takes a break from being sexual at all for a while I don't necessarily think that would happen. Actually I could kind of see it the other way around, where she gets really really into it now that it's not painful, and Utena, who has fewer overall experiences and who doesn't entirely seem comfortable with Anthy's advances in the movie (at least not always) has to pump the brakes.
And THAT'S interesting, because who even knows if Anthy has ever been in a position to be sexually rejected. Also, if Utena IS more delicate about sex post-traumatization than she is, what does that say about her? I could see it stirring up the resentment she seems to have about viewing herself as corrupted, even if she's past the point of blaming Utena for her naivete.
On the other hand neither of them has really had a chance to explore sexuality beyond being groomed and abused, so really anything is possible, in a lot of ways they're starting from ground zero here.
I actually think the lack of race politics is probably the weakest factor in rgu (as well as the fandom) bc like. the dynamics of patriarchy are in fact inextricable from the logic of colonialism in many ways? and so it makes me feel crazy that everyone in ohtori is always like âletâs kill the one brown girl we know with knives for no reasonâ and then nary a single fan is like âthis is surely not motivated by any sort of visual signifier of alterity that she may be assigned by a racializing gazeâ and in fact some of them are even like âeveryone who wants to kill her is right for that probably bc sheâs evilâ
thats because rgu's race politics is frankly bad and orientalist, see nanami goes to india to find spices episode. it is racist in a way that sort of beggars belief that the show actually intends to say something coherent about racialisation instead of just uh assigning the incestual sexual violence to the brown people in the show.
yeah, okay, maybe âlack of race politicsâ wasnât the best wording when what i actually meant was lack of meaningful and productive race politics. because obviously making anthy and akio brown is itself a meaningful choice whether or not the creators intended it as such, and yet their racialization is never addressed, and the crass orientalism of that nanami subplot (in an episode that i would argue is one of the least significant of the entire show) being the only example of any sort of racial commentary whatsoever is clearly a bad look. i completely agree that the writers did not intend to say something coherent about racialization; itâs pretty clear to me that any sort of reading that can be inferred from anthy and akioâs racial alterity is one that lies beyond the scope of authorial intent. but i also think those readings that have been made over the years by brown and black women in particular regarding anthyâs role as a racialized subject are no less valuable for drawing conclusions and making connections from implications that are clearly present whether the writers intended it or not. im not saying that the text of rgu is itself anti-racist and performing such commentary â another example of rguâs racism and orientalism is the egregious lightening of anthyâs skin in the movie, which serves no narrative purpose other than to piss people off! but i also think itâs a bit unfair to suggest that anthy and akio are depicted as brown due to their incestuous relationship when there are multiple pairs of incestuous siblings in the show, and their parallels to one another are central to the showâs themes. i do think the narrative choice to make anthy brown was intended to otherize her, and while you can certainly argue that this choice was implemented for orientalist reasons on the parts of the creators, i also think that reading further into a text that invites a multiplicity of readings and truly parsing through the implications of what such racialization suggests and entails can be a useful analytical endeavor, even if the writers may have been too myopic to understand certain implications of their own narrative.
