time to restart my blog (again)... can't believe i last logged in four years ago

yeah so between then (2021) and now i got hooked into the crown and then doctor who.

i was active in the superwholock fandom during its heyday but for the lock part (and an occasional crossover with 10 or 11), but i still found those deep in the fandom quite obnixous in a way. that probably put me off from actually watching doctor who for years.

my (probably) hot take: 13's legacy was tarnished by horrible writing. with 13 meeting 15 you can see how decent writing changes everything.

TERF shocked to discover that the real world is not an online echo chamber, and that instead the average woman either supports or just doesn’t care about trans people the way they do

My former college roommate was the perfect example of this. She was cishet and didn’t know anything about queerness. She didn’t know anything about nonbinary people, had never met someone who used they/them pronouns, didn’t have any trans friends. But she wasn’t a transphobe, she just didn’t care about trans people. She didn’t care if a trans woman used the same public bathroom as her. This is because she just didn’t care about what others did with their lives. She had her own cishet life, and knew that there were people out there who didn’t have that life.

And my roommate is so much closer to the average person than an online TERF. Being transgender isn’t as big of a deal to most people as it is to transphobes. Of course there are transphobes everywhere, but they are such a big proportion of online discourse that we forget a massive chunk of the population is simply indifferent to trans people. The people who aren’t loud trans allies or transphobes aren’t on twitter talking about it. They’re simply going about their lives without thinking about trans people at all.

that actually goes with many other political issues irl too. without giving out too much of my personal details, i work in a place where the government is setting rules as to what we’re supposed to say and do to promote certain values, so that we don’t “indoctrinate” people with values unbecoming of a citizen.

and i was like, look i know it’s important but i don’t care. these values are important but i would also love to at least get everyone’s paperwork in place. if i really have the power to “indoctrinate” i would have made people come to their appointments on time. i like to live my life, get a paycheck and go home to my family, and being anti-[certain values] really isn’t something i would plan to do in the course of my work even if i hold contrarian values, simply because i don’t have the time to outside my normal like of work.

doesn’t mean the guidelines won’t be in place though

I really wish there was just a doctor who streaming service. With all the doctor who series, all spinoffs, everything. Literally every doctor who media in one place. The things I would do for this.

it’s never been available via streaming where i live so a doctor who streaming service would be particularly nice to see. bonus if classic who is included
