Leading man. Romantic. Thief. Fashion Icon.
my favorite (peacock) leading man
Been out of it for almost two weeks due to migraines. Really proud of myself for adjusting expectations and not pushing as hard today, and focusing on specific pieces of an image. REALLY happy with that down-ward face, the torso shift, and some top-down perspective on the pecs. Also that hair
the hardest figure drawing i’ve done to date. they’re so soft and i love them ;-; August 2022, soft queer love month ~

Digital Gesture Drawing. First time using my cintiq in over two years
Trying to get a digital sketchbook going again because I like being able to look back ~ Drift. August 2022.

Love my desert plants <3 <3 <3
My friend and I played some variations on the Exquisite Corpse game. (A) One person starts a comic with a panel, then switch back and forth until done. Non-drawer gives and adjective to begin. (B) 2 minute timer per drawing round. Draw on top of the same image back and forth (We did 3 each, total of 6 times drawing).
Tried another round of mixed fandom, this time the boys. Takeaways: -It’s way easier to simplify a 3D character than to add dimension to a really flat 2D character
-Miyazaki has way more form/dimmensionality than I realized
-Figure drawing helps!
-Hatching practice helps!
-Anastasia has really cool designs I did not do justice here
-My drawings get bigger as I loosen up
-Definitely worked better to get ALL the sketches done THEN do value
-Male characters tend to skew older than female and I have no idea why this surprises me. This is a well-known live action trend.
-I’m drawn to the more exaggerated shapes but want to draw naturalistic heads and this sometimes doesn’t play nice (looking at you Tadashi and Danny).
-I def lean toward rounded shapes. Would like to learn how to use angular too.

I did 28 days of figure drawing and am thrilled with the improvement. Major takeaways: -Use light lines to place, then commit to darker lines
-Get the overall shape down first
-Place body shapes lightly so you can adjust
-Exaggerate to tell the story but keep shapes in good relation
-My lines improved from rough and scribbly to more intentional and smooth
-Changing mediums helped me think about line weight
-Not every day is a good day, especially when working on new or unknown skills
-Play! These aren’t precious
-What I learned from these helped drawings; what I learned from drawings helped these
-Placing heads is hard
-I was leaving off the entire back of the skull
-NECKS
-Shadows help define the figure
-Simplify shapes and information
Did a group shot/style blend practice with some favorite ladies. Not entirely successful, but learned a lot!
Haven’t been this happy with a drawing in a long time. :) My pencil is really improving. I also have always wanted to try a multiple heads in the same spread sketch! This came out pretty well. I looooove the designs in this game, and child me is excited I can draw them finally.
