People will write fics where Neil is insecure about his relationship with Andrew when in canon the mf is smiling, giggling, kicking his feet every time Andrew says he hates him like it’s a love confession.

And rightfully so. Neil knows Andrew’s default is no emotion so he knows intuitively what an emotion as strong as “hate” towards him, that isn’t backed-up by any of Andrew’s actions, means.
