Okay, so while I'm writing down the basics for KISMET while working on the design of my fandom OCs, I'm hoping to work on the "Never the Same" AU in time for October! I'm planning on it being a small anthology series, focusing on my AU version of some Creepypasta characters (with an AU version of my own Creepypasta OCs, since they'll differ by a large margin), where they were childhood friends. It'll focus on life before and after they became Creepypastas, with little glimpses of what their world was like and how it is now.

Why is it that when racism occurs in fandom spaces, in independent media, that y’all keep calling people weird for reacting strongly to it? Y’all really think you’re doing something when you pull that dingy “there’s real world problems to deal with” excuse out your ass just to shut up people rightfully wanting justice and feeling comfortable with their media.

It was real when y’all dressed up in cosplays, and made fan art, and went to conventions, and got to interact with your faves through their social platforms…but suddenly when bigotry is involved, it’s not that big of a deal.

Let me rephrase what y’all are trying to say: POC don’t get to have fandom. We don’t get to have media. That part of the real world is something we’re not allowed to touch. It’s the one space that discrimination and prejudice will always thrive, because you refuse to acknowledge the layers of racism for what they are.

I think people should be just as critical of fandom spaces and their bigotry as they would the real world. You should treat these scandals of people saying slurs, of outright refusing to hire POC for certain roles, and whatever the fuck else these companies decide to facilitate and be complicit in as hate crimes, as segregation, as RACISM. You should see these behaviors and patterns of behavior as indicative of something in the real world, because we all exist in the real world, and these things don’t leave us just because we put on a quirky username.

the last few weeks have been eye opening for me. i’ve seen fans endlessly shrugging off valid criticisms of the show, embracing “isn’t she lovely” like it’s going out of style. racism and misogyny are very real in this fandom and everywhere else. but people ignore it constantly and part of that is likely because it could mean having to turn their backs on goose and glitch.

for goose in particular, being trans isn’t a “get out of jail free” card. they’ve said countless questionable and bizarre things in the past. anyone of any race, gender, and sexual orientation should be reasonably held accountable when they do or say bad things. support them if you want, and think that they’ve learned and changed for the better, but it’s important to know that any seemingly good person could have irrefutable evidence of horrible actions and beliefs come out against them at any time.

people have to eventually learn to walk away from toxic franchises, and tadc can easily be called one of them. take what good you can from them, then run for the hills. make aus if you’d like, look at fan art, and cherish the good memories you made from the show, but recognize the franchise’s flaws as well.

glitch being an extremely racist company is all but confirmed at this point. racism is stupid as fuck and we all need to learn to do better. stand against it. don’t disregard or dismiss people who call it out. educate yourself. compassion for other people can be painful to feel, especially in the face of indifferent cruelty, but it is not a weakness.

Thank you so much for noticing! There's lots of different things i do to keep motivated and keep things light and fun for myself, so I hope you don't mind me doing some big yapping!

For one I'm a firm believer your art style should be focused on bringing attention to your favorite things to draw and should be built around making drawing as fun and easy as you can make it for yourself! So I hope it comes across that the way I draw emphasizes the things I have the most fun drawing! Like shoes, clothes and hands, all while still being fairly simple so i can draw things like comics and character interaction easily because i love doing those as well! And that I de-emphasize things i find tiring to draw, like backgrounds, rendering and linework (all my stuff is just cleaned up sketches i haven't done proper linework in YEARS haha) I feel like a lot of younger artists get stuck in the trap of thinking they have to do things a certain way or they feel forced into engaging with things they don't enjoy doing for the sake of doing the exact process they see other artists doing, and that's not necessary at all! Especially if doing those things is going to make the process unfun or tiring for you. If there's something you don't find fun during the drawing process you can totally just, NOT DO IT! Sure it's helpful to follow and learn form other artists esp professionals if you want to do art for a job in the future, but if you're just trying to have fun and be creative I think you should only focus on doing what's most enjoyable for you!

I ALSO think it's very important to have a diverse amount of hobbies and ways to express your creativity, I don't just do digital art! I paint, sew, needle felt, sculp, and a bunch of other crafty nonsense! And a lot of the skills of these crafts can kinda transfer over to one another so you can learn a lot from engaging with different forms of art! But the best part is if im feeling burnt out of digital art and can't seem to draw anything, I have multiple other creative outlets to do to take a lil break and refresh my brain! If im not feeling like doing digital art I'll paint and craft in my free time for a week or 2 until im feeling ready to do digital again and that always helps me a ton. But sometimes it's not even that deep and you just need a Lil change in your process, trying new brushes or learning to draw something new you haven't tried drawing before are also great ways to stop burn out that i do all the time.

But I also gotta give you guys a lot of credit for my motivation! You all engaging with my work and sending me your ideas, asks, and encouragement makes it all so much more fun! I always get super excited to see what everyone thinks of whatever doodle im working on! It's great knowing even if I draw something unusual that doesn't get that many notes or whatever I'll always have a few regulars who will enjoy it regardless!
