Yes also bring back auto shop class
And wood working.
And Home Ec
Sewing! I know this comes sometimes into home ec, but gosh dangit I learned to at least do a basic stitch and work a sewing machine! And I made some sleep pants!
Add a class about doing taxes. Many adults dont even understand taxes.
If youâre an adult and want to learn how to do taxes and the law behind it, volunteer with VITA (volunteer income tax assistance). No joke, literally volunteering will teach you more about our tax system then an entire semester in college will.
But people shouldn't have to do that volunteering work to get knowledge of something that the vast majority of American citizens deal with at least once a year.
I think a high school class which teaches the economics of a personal household would lead to a huge improvement in the lives of most students. Covering not only taxes but how interest rates and mortgages and credit cards and store accounts and account balancing and all the financial tools and requirements that we all have to take care of but are not currently taught anywhere could make a huge difference.
While I agree it would be helpful to teach how interest rates work to people while theyâre still young, I also think that we wouldnât have to teach the average person about taxes if we just repealed the 16th amendment. Anyways, yes, it would be good to teach the younger generation skills theyâll actually use. I was pointing out VITA in-case any adults stumbled upon this and wanted to add to their skills.

from the bottom of my heart: read real books
Define "real books"
not fanfiction
OP badly written published novels exist. Harlequin Romance and Mills and Boon arenât fan fiction by any means.
50shades of grey is technically a real book and no longer fanfiction.. logical conclusion: OP wants people to read 50 shades of grey
jacob blake was shot seven times in the back by cops in kenosha, wisconsin, on 23 august 2020. he is currently in critical condition and fighting for his life. here are a few links to support him and aid the pursuit of justice:
gofundme for jacob blake and his family
petition to charge the cops who shot jacob blake
milwaukee freedom fund: bail funds for protesters in kenosha
call or email kenosha state officials, compiled by twitter user @ankita_71
split a donation to bail funds across the country
feel free to add updated information or other links!
Didnât he physically assault the cops, ignore orders, and is a violent felon accused of third degree sexual assault? By all accounts this is a justified shooting and I have no clue what you want when you ask for âjusticeâ.

this is Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo. itâs a really weird novel about a man going to get a haircut thatâs also a pretty explicit criticism of the 1%.
the main character is a multimillionaire whoâs so fixated on money and materialism that heâs basically forgotten how to be a normal human being and connect with people. that conversation above is him talking to his new wife. at one point, he even says something like, âthis is good. we are having a conversation. this is what people do.â
Tumblrâs literary analysis skills are best summed up by the fact that âhe could feel the glucose entering his cellsâ was not enough to tip tens of thousands of people off that this was not an interaction meant to be taken at face value.
Theyâll lap up anything that adheres to their confirmation bias about straight white men being bad writers.
I mean, the glucose is an obvious one. But Iâm kinda surprised they didnât pick up on eating her food.
Demilitarizing literally only means taking the tanks and shit away from them. It's the barest of bare bones reforms.
When we defund or abolish the police, there will be stronger social programs in place to help prevent the crime from happening in the first place.
....cops have tanks?
Note this says to get them BACK meaning they had some before, which were reasonably taken, and now they're trying to get MORE.
Because nothing says you're good at your job like riding a tank to a bar fight.
....whereâs the 105/120 in that photo?
Alternate suggestion: Let Civilians Have Tanks
Civilians do - theyâre expensive though.
oh, then itâs alright then. Now if only Civilians could have machine guns. . .

source. Oh geez, I can only wonder why a man with that sort of predilection would want the police defunded.. I guess itâll forever be a mystery.

Riots still ok thoughâŠ..
the over-reaction of the left to this disease isnât working anymore. Now they have to start FLAGRANTLY shitting on Civil Rights to see if they can provoke Trump to go full dictator. If you want a future - any future - do not vote for ANY Democrat this November.
Looks like the protests are still on, so a big hearty fuck you to Gavin up there.
âCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;â
Thatâs pretty cut and fucking dry. They canât even blame language drift for fucking this up.
Iâd be far less annoyed if theyâd at least do a cursory finger wag at the protests. I know that baring a Tienanmen Square level suppression they arenât going to stop them, but it would be nice for them to acknowledge that theyâre taking a big risk pf getting sick and increasing the spread of this virus.
Every single person protesting knows the risk. Never denied it. Simply said it was important enough to take said risk. Church is not an essential service. You can watch church at home. You canât protest police killing people sitting at home.
Every single person going to church knows the risk and thinks itâs important enough to take the risk. Let people evaluate their own risk, not just when theyâre doing something you approve of.
Many people are watching church/religious services from home, but there are some religious practices that cannot be done remotely.
Churches that believe Communion is an essential part of their faith and that it really is the Body and Blood of Christ and therefore needs to be administered in person by a called and ordained pastor/priest cannot simply âwatch church from home.â They are being denied an essential part of their faith by these unjust orders.
Also, regardless of what each church believes about why they need to gather in person, none of that changes their right to free exercise of their religion, as well as their right to assemble and speak freely. No government has the right to shut them down completely, especially not by a governorâs executive order.
Yes because going to church is akin to begging the police to stop killing people. đđ they can exercise their religion at home. Thereâs multiple tv stations specifically to do so. Theyâve been having online services all over the country. Thereâs absolutely NO reason to go to church and risk getting people sick.
If a person honestly believes church attendance is vital to their eternal soul, which is certainly a believable thing for some religions, then they would have reason to absolutely believe that going to church is considerably more valuable than begging police to stop killing people.
Who are you to tell them they are or are not correct?
This is kind of exactly why the First Amendment bans this particular government power.
Bahahaaa Iâm sorry but religious people are fricken weak. You can do everything from home without going to a service. I sincerely detest people who need religion. Yâall are fucking stupid
So you have decided you know better what happens in the world, including after death, than any and all religions in practice. And you believe it is somehow your right to interfere with their beliefs and practices of those beliefs for no apparent reason.
Someone here is awfully fucking stupid but you are clearly mistaken about who it is.
I believe people need some self fucking control and can definitely stay the fuck home instead of attending church during a global pandemic. Oh how stupid of me đ
Youâre right. People should have some self control and stop rioting and protesting after the cops responsible for an event have been arrested. And yet they are not and their protests are considered fine during a âsupposedâ lockdown.
As a side note this breaks not just the 1st Amendment, but also the concept of Equal Protection under the Law from the 14th Amendment. Since heâs only targeting religious institutions.
The protesters should be fined as well. I already said all this. Heâs not removing religion from California. Heâs banning mass during the pandemic you dunce
My apologies, because you had not said so previously in this reblog chain I had thought you were okay with the protesting, that is my bad for making assumptions.
I will say, though it weakens my own point, he is not banning mass as mass is something that can be held outdoors if need be. Like most church functions can be held outdoors. This fact, however, does not change that he is breaking the 14th Amendment by targeting religious institutions. If people can go to a store, which in my experience is packed especially during lockdown. Then why should people not be allowed to go to their religious institutions? It doesnât make much logical sense?
My entire point to this is: protesting police killing people is more important than going to church.
That is a subjective judgement, some people think differently and neither can be proved to be objectively correct or incorrect. So Iâm a bit curious as to why this long post looks like it contains several arguments? When we could probably have ended this with: Person 1: âI believe protesting police killing people is more important than going to church.â Person 2: â I believe going to church is more important than protesting police killing people.â Person 1: âAgree to disagreeâ Person 2: âagreedâ When an argument has no objective point, neither side will come to a conclusion that differs from their original view. So this post being as long as it is seems unnecessary

Once schools reopen, weâre really fucked. America half-assed this, and now we have, I think, nearly a quarter of the worlds dead from the coronavirus.
Iâm just glad there are no children in my home
I worry, for my baby brother going into his sophomore year, and my eldest brother, who he lives with, has serious allergies and asthma
But he canât move back to my mom because grandma lives with her and she is down a lung and has everything cancer
Itâs rough
I actually kind of disagree about schools opening being a disaster - it seems kids, especially young ones, are relatively protected from a) getting it, b) transmitting it if they do, and c) having severe disease if they get it. And thereâs a lot of downsides to keeping kids home; online education seems to be a shitshow so far. High schools might be different, but at least through some elementary school is probably okay/worth it in a cost-benefit analysis.Â
Protected from it how? How are they not transmitting it of infected? Is it not being that severe going to justify the dead children and infected families?
I'm not a scientist, but apparently a German study of 2,000 kids found a very low positive-test rate, and Germany has been opening in-person classes since May.
But our testing has shown nearly a third of kids are testing positive in Florida, with a testing pool of about 54,000.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/507442-almost-one-third-of-florida-children-tested-are%3famp
The stateâs outbreak continues to surge as new data reveal children may be more impacted than previously thought.
Do we have any studies that are outside of Florida, key? cause Florida has kinda been fudging their coronavirus numbers.. From private testers just not reporting negative results. To conflating having antibodies as having the coronavirus currently.

Source, because sources are important.
if you wouldnât let someone rob you and torch your house to satisfy their ârighteousâ anger at an oppressive system, donât say you support rioting
Youâre right haha nobodyâs homes are being looted theyâre just fucking burning down.
Where is your proof that police officers instigated the riots? I also find it difficult to believe that all people partaking in the riots are policemen as well, seeing as theyâve physically assaulted and murdered officers.
I donât give a shit about the three dollars that the Walmart CEO is going to lose in annual revenue. I give a shit about the small businesses ransacked and razed to the ground. I give a shit about the hundreds of employees in every Walmart that have lost their primary source of income during a global pandemic. I give a shit about the people who have lost valuable possessions, who have lost their jobs, who have lost their lives or the lives of those dear to them. Many of those lives are black lives. They fucking matter.
And youâre right. Protestors are not those rioting. Is it impossible to focus on both issues? They are hardly mutually exclusive; one can condemn riots and any form of violent protests and still recognize the need for reform. Oh, and what is it you say about cops? âSilence is complicity.â
Pull your fucking head out of your ass. Weâre not racists. Weâre not bigots. Weâre people who care.
Funniest part of that rant âJust admit you hate black people and go.â Jlongbone is a black person.. do they not knoweth this?
oh and the myth that policemen were causing damage comes from some video footage of policemen doing cleanup work where they remove already broken glass from car windows to eliminate the danger the broken windows cause. This is apparently standard operating procedure for police.
