Lando's already massively disadvantaged any time Piastri throws a tantrum, and maybe he does have some respect for Stella from a purely professional standpoint, but let's not act like Lando could be 100% truly open and honest if he was asked very pointed direct questions like "how does it make you feel that the team has never addressed the mass of hate comments you get" or "Stella can't even say your name in some of his post race interviews"

One thing that I found a bit interesting was that when he elaborated on that, his reasoning was essentially, "Yeah, we can have conversations in passing that aren't even about racing." Because idk my sarcastic brain immediately went, "Oh, so when he's not giving you repercussions for overtaking his boy toy on track fair and square, you like him? Okay."

Anyway I also find it funny that most of the people saying this are also pissy about what Lando had to say about Hungary. You know, the race where Stella admitted he was coaching Will on how to emotionally abuse Lando on the pit wall because "Andrea knows how to appeal to Lando's emotions to get him to do what's best for the team" (which yes. Hi. Textbook definition of emotional abuse right there).

crazy, it's almost as if Silverstone is a staple in the world of motorsport and therefore most drivers who make it to the highest levels will have driven around Silverstone at some point

Piastri isn't special for racing there as a kid, when at the very least it's been on the calendar for f2 and f3 for fucking years

because that cool down room? RUINED because pisstri spent like 10 straight minutes bitching and Hulk (first podium) and Lando (home race win) were just stuck there listening to it

and then Pisstri just walked clean past both Lando and Hulk in a way that made Lando have to walked down from the top step to second to then get to the stage because Pisstri was just straight up in the way

and then on top of that there is video evidence I know someone posted of that podium with Hulk walking to spray the team below the podium, and then Lando and Hulk having a little moment there's also photo evidence of

Quite literally the only person on that podium who ignored EVERYONE was Oscar mid temper tantrum.

Lando made himself a WDC by having the resilience to overcome the bullshit Stella put him through in an attempt to ensure a Piastri championship, such as on-track repercussions for overtaking Piastri at a race start and making Piastri emotional.

Honestly, the fact that Oscar is only 1 point ahead despite all the ways in which McLaren has ruined Lando's season is a far greater testament to Lando's talent than it is to Oscar's.

God, please let Piastri ACTUALLY deal with some of these major reliability problems that produce "his own share of problems getting clean weekends in" that his fangirls have been fantasizing about him having all season long to cope with his underperformance. sorry but I cannot be the only one who sees the fucking hypocrisy and irony of McLaren just posting a video talking about comments on social media, with them choosing ones shitting on Zak Brown, Andrea Stella and McLaren as a team

and yet NEVER have they publicly called out the utter vitriol and hatred aimed at Lando over the last 2 years

they've removed comments even mildly criticising their other driver, we know people have been blocked by Zak on twitter for very mild comments but literal death threats and wishes of harm to Lando (things like Jeddah quali and Zandvoort DNF) have been left there in ig comments and also twitter

now this isn't me saying to send hate comments, or nastiness, or anything like that but it's a little bit funny (not haha funny) we see this video now and not when it was truly needed the most

these two posts as well immediately sprang to mind, like the timing of the comment being almost even worse because Dilano would've been turning 21 the day before, and also the other scary moments like Lando's quali crash that literally had Carlos going silent mid sentence as he saw it on screen, and the impact the crash had on JM

But when oscar says it, suddenly everyone discovers nuance, context, comedy, satire, irony and the entire history of humor as a literary device.

I'm sorry, but "I'm just waiting to see a bunch of drivers kill themselves" is a weird fucking joke in any motorsport. Especially in a sport where drivers have died. Especially at one of the deadliest circuits in the sport's history. Especially when there are active drivers on the grid who have personally lost friends and colleagues. Especially when your own teammate nearly became another cautionary tale people talk about when they bring up this track.

Lando repeats a phrase trump used after McLaren invited the guy into the garage? Public execution. oscar jokes about drivers killing themselves for the betterment of his race? "Guys, relax, it was obviously a joke."

Pierre was standing right next to him during this parade, after organising Run for Anthoine (to commemorate Anthoine (2019) and Dilano (in 2023) who died there) on the Thursday evening before the race. Anthoine’s family was in the paddock. Real people. Real loss. Real history attached to that corner.
