Doctor vs Master in terms of who I'd rather have as an enemy is Master all the fucking way. The thing about The Master is their number one priority is not their moral code or revenge or domination or being a villain no their number 1 priority no matter what is being high camp. If the master was after me I would just clap to lower the lights and make "masochism tango" start playing and then during the dance I'd cuff and collar them with some ridiculously strong stuff and at the end they'd be like "mon chéri...it seems you have foiled me for now, but we shall meet again" and then they'd kiss me hand and I probably would have at least a few years before they show up again. Whereas if you're not already in a deeply codependent situation ship and you piss off The Doctor their number one priority is Fucking Getting You. You can fuck off to the year 6 billion in the 13th dimension and they'll still find your ass and be like "I tripled your lifespan and also gave you anterograde amnesia so everyday you will wake up with fewer and fewer loved ones but the grief will be brand new" like jesus christ man i don't wanna deal with that

Mal’s first mark came on the morning Alina and his regiments crossed the Shadow Fold. He didn’t get to tell her, and the mission ended on a disastrous note. He nearly died, and Alina was taken away from him before he could tell her about the new shape inked high up his right forearm. Taken, because Alina Starkov has become someone more. 

The Sun Summoner. The Sun Saint. Grisha. His soulmate. 

He only discovered the other soulmark after she was gone, grieving that he had lost his chance. He couldn’t decipher the second soulmark, still lost and distracted and thinking of Alina, Alina, Alina. 

His one true north, always meant to be even long before he was ready for her. 

It was not after meeting the Darkling that he realized what the second mark was. Two circles, overlapped over each other, an eclipse and a symbol of the Shadow Summoner. It was hidden under his clothes, the secret tucked safe to his chest. No one must ever know of the Darkling. And Alina. 

He couldn’t say anything, because he knew that the Darkling was still waiting for that same firebird mark on Alina’s hand. Mal had to swallow down the abrupt dread and disappointment when he realized that the Darkling was going to be waiting for a long time. 

Because the Darkling thinks him Alina’s otkazat'sya tagalong, and soulmates were created to be equals and each other’s strengths, so who was Mal when compared to the Sun Summoner? 

[ Mal does not know what the firebird means, does not understand the mythical symbolism that’s supposed to represent him, but he prayed that the firebird belongs to him. Because the three of them matched, and that had to mean something, and if the firebird turns out to be someone else, Mal does not know what he will do. ]

The Darkling will never get his firebird unless he’s ready for Mal. And what does it mean when he has two of the most powerful Grisha as his soulmates? What does it mean when he’s theirs?
