So you're telling me they shot a bunch of scenes with Johnny as the scarecrow ,only to end up showing us less than 2 minutes of it ( essentially the trapdoor sequence where we get to see his face ), and that Johnny did in fact spend hours in that makeup chair while thinking about how to bring the physicality of the scarecrow to life..and for what!!!!!! It’s interesting actually – the lack of an inner eye and inner voice are separate conditions. The latter is less well studied, not that either have a huge body of research yet, but the most common term for it seems to be anendophasia. I have neither inner eye nor inner voice, which you’d think would make my mind a pretty quiet place, but the ADHD means there’s a whole bouncy house of thoughts going on like…all the time. It’s a silent rave up in here.

So yeah I get a sense of recognition when I see this gif set, but I don’t hear INCONCIEVABLE! in my mind. Right now, the science seems to indicate between five and thirty percent of people don’t.

It can get wild because people can comprehend not seeing images in your head, or at least they’re usually just curious. But you say you have no inner voice and that really unsettles them. More than once the initial reaction has been to question not just how I form thoughts but if I can think at all. It’s not even insulting that the first instinct is to question my humanity, because it’s just so surreal. Like yes of course I have thoughts, do you think I’m cruising through life on some kind of lizard-brain autopilot? I just don’t have a low grade auditory hallucination going on at all times.

Hearing my own voice narrating my reality to me…now THAT would be inconceivable.

my science fair project in fifth grade was basically i had this printout of a bunch of toys that were stereotypically boy toys and girl toys, and i would have my classmates study the sheet for some short period of time, idr if it was like 30 seconds or a minute or whatever, then put it away and had them recall to me as many toys as they could remember. my hypothesis was officially that boys would remember more boy toys and girls would remember more girl toys, but secretly in my head i knew that girls would probably remember boy toys and girl toys relatively equally but boys would still remember mostly boy toys. and that ended up being the case. and i still remember this 20 years later because it hasn’t fucking stopped. and you know what they didn’t even like my project. participation ribbon. i was a fifth grade feminist theorist and no one cared
