I can't help but think of a soft Derek, some years from now, in a cozy cabin in the woods, not so far from a small city that reminds him of BH, but just the good things. I can picture him walking the perimeter of his house, early in the morning, in an old dark red thumb hole sweater enjoying the smells and sounds of the sunrise. Sometimes, when the wind blows, he closes his eyes to hear the leaves on the trees sing. Most of the times these peaceful moments are interrupted by Stiles returning to the cabin because he forgot something. Sometimes it's the key of his office, some other times it is the lunch. But what Derek really loves is that everytime, just before leaving again in a rush, his mate always stops on his track, turns around once again, walks the perimeter of the cabin 'til he finds Derek and gives him another kiss, another I love you Sourwolf murmured softly between their lips before going away leaving Derek feeling loved and happy.

When a composed character breaks.

When the kind character finally snaps

Innocent character finally breaks and unleashes their evil side to protect their loved ones.

Holding everything in until the dam finally breaks and the boy/girlfriend holds her until the other falls asleep

The TENSION

reassuring small kisses to make the other feel better

When the character can barely talk because if they do, they’ll burst into tears. The feeling when your throat constricts in itself - it breaks my poor heart

Showering together. Nothing sexual, they’re just that comfortable together

“Everything’s gonna be okay.” Character A cradles a broken Character B as the world breaks around them

Ugly crying.

Forehead kisses. I repeat, forehead kisses.

Character A sacrificing themself to save their loved one. “Kill me instead, leave him/her alone.”

Thank you for this post. This shows how comics understand the reason of the appeal Loki has always had for his fans, minorities, oppressed, outcasts. Also notice how the narrative portrays the god of outcasts in Loki(2019) panel. It shows Loki beside a happy and free Drrf who was bullied and abused because of his small size. Because he was different. Just like Loki. But Loki saved him, protected him and freed him.

But how the show portrayed god of outcasts? Liars and cheaters and monsters. What an insult. They really don’t get it.

I wonder, as a screenwriter myself, if it’s not so much that they don’t understand the references they’re making, but instead understand them so deeply, so intimately, that they aren’t articulating their knowledge correctly.

The conversations that lead to what gets finalized for a TV show are happening in a bubble. So, basically, they’re three or four steps ahead and we weren’t privy to that process because it’d take a million more episodes to catch us all up properly. They don’t have that kind of time.

I also think those that like the show are excited to see Loki at all. His portrayal, whether that be new or different or OOC isn’t important to them. They’re just happy to have their comfort character back. On the flip side, I can see how irritating it would be to feel as if his origins and history aren’t being respected and upheld. But I don’t think that’s what is happening here. This is an interpretation of Loki. And it’s just one take. Who’s to say what’s right or wrong anymore?

satisfied, I open the second tab to pull up a post-avengers fanfic. everyone lives together in stark tower - each of them has their own floor. for no explained reason, loki shares thor’s. no one questions that he has not been arrested. the team has friday evening movie nights. at breakfast, thor eats all of tony’s pop tarts.

I am content.
